Now, why would God let this happen?

It’s no secret that I do not believe in a God as described in any written dogma, so the answer for me is an easy one.

But let’s say I DID believe in God as a being who created us and watches over us. I can only imagine that this man’s life and his actions, in God’s eyes, would be no different than mine in regards to where an ant placed a grain of sand in the maze of tunnels it helped build in an ant farm I made for my kid.

I mean, he created the universe. Heaven, Hell and everything in between. He is omnipresent and can traverse space and time at will while ignoring every law of physics he himself created. Personally, I cannot imagine he would care too much. Your God doesn’t move in mysterious ways…it’s plainly obvious that your God simply doesn’t care.

No offense, and not taking digs…just offering up my own opinion\observation.

Really, why would God let this man sing His praises and get all the cudos and pats on the back from believers AND have his wife in the freezer and his daughter in his bed?

God sometimes moves in downright unbelieveably mysterious ways.

The affidavit related the daughter’s story as follows:

Her mother, Arletha Hopkins, 36, caught her father abusing her in a bathroom in November 2004. Afterward, her parents argued, and her mother locked her father out of the house. The father came to the daughter’s window and asked her to let him in, and she did so.

The next morning, her father asked her to help him hide her mother’s body in the freezer in the laundry room of the home.

The girl said she moved out of the home about two weeks ago and was living with a neighbor. She told police that her mother’s body was still in the freezer.

That poor girl–the pregnancy must be what prompted her to finally try to break away. I hope she is early enough in the pregnancy to be able to consider all her options and decide what _she_ wants, for once. If he’s been molesting her since she was 11, then thank goodness she didn’t get pregnant at an even younger age. (That we know of, anyway.)

Prosecutors say he was in the U.S. Army and went AWOL, which is one of the reasons why they wanted bond denied.

Hopkins could also be facing more charges in Clarke County, Ala., including another charge or rape and sodomy. Those charges are still being investigated and have not been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

According to the search warrant, a sexual affair involving Anthony Hopkins and one of his eight children had been going on for eight years. In the warrant, one of Hopkins’ daughters says on or around November 4, 2004, her mother, Arletha Hopkins, caught her dad sexually abusing her in a bathroom at their home. The daughter says that lead to an argument, and the next morning her father asked her to help hide her mom’s body in a freezer.

One article I read listed the age of the oldest daughter (the one who went to the Child Advocacy Center) as 19; if she’s the daugher that the search warrant refers to (since he was probably abusing more than one child), that would mean he’d been molesting her since age 11, and that she was 15 when her mother found out and was killed.

I really, really object to the article referring to his the long-term molestation as an “affair.” That makes it sound like the only thing wrong with it is that the parties involved weren’t married to each other.

Thankfully the eldest broke those bonds, and in doing so earned herself and all seven of her siblings Lifetime Safe-Passage through my domain to turn the tables on their sperm-donor of a “father” whenever they wish.

The oldest daughter is an incredibly brave girl. I hope that those kids can stay together and get enough help so that they can have a shot at decent lives someday.
