UPDATE – Reigh Storrow Boss was found safe this afternoon in a rented room in Baltimore, Maryland.  Clark Rockefeller had left “Snooks” in the room and had gone out when he was apprehended.  Sandra Boss is on her way to Baltimore to pick up her daughter, and Clark Rockefeller is in custody.  He will be arraigned on a fugitive warrant from Boston on Monday.

Clark Rockefeller, 50; and Reigh Storrow Boss, aka Reigh Rockefeller, 7

Boston, MA, LondonLondon reviewsLondon reviews, and New York -  Reigh Boss, aka Reigh Rockefeller, 7, went missing SundaySunday reviewsSunday reviews during a supervised visit with her father, J. Clark Rockefeller.   Reigh, who goes by the nickname “Snooks”, and her mother, Sandra Boss, were visiting Boston from their home in London.  Reigh’s parents recently went through a nasty divorce, and in NovemberNovember reviewsNovember reviews 2007, Reigh’s legal name was changed from Reigh Storrow Rockefeller to Reigh Storrow Mills Boss. This was the first visit between “Snooks” and her father since December.

Reigh’s Sunday visit with her father was supervised by a social worker by court order, and also because of Boss’ reported concern that Clark Rockefeller might not return Reigh.  As it happened, Reigh’s mother was right.   As Clark, Reigh and the social worker were walking to the Boston Common from the Four Seasons Hotel, a black SUV drove up next to the father and daughter.  That’s when Clark Rockefeller pushed the social worker out of the way, scooped up little Reigh, and jumped into the vehicle.

The social worker was dragged several feet by the speeding SUV as he grabbed it and tried to hold on.   He suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital and released.  It’s not clear whether Reigh Rockefeller was injured, but reports say things moved so quickly she must have been very distressed.  Her backpack and a doll were left lying on the front steps of Clark Rockefeller’s home.  The SUV’s make was uncertain but could be a Tahoe, a Suburban, a Yukon or a Denali.  There were Boston Red Sox stickers in the back window, and police believe the driver was a friend of Rockefeller’s.

An Amber Alert for Reigh Rockefeller was issued about 5:00 p.m. Sunday, but as of this morning Massachusetts canceled the alert, saying that they have credible information placing Clark and Reigh Rockefeller in New York.  An Amber Alert has not been issued in New York, but as I write, Reigh remains missing, and there is concern for her safety.

Clark Rockefeller is about 50 years old.  He is white, 5′6″ and 170 pounds.  He was last seen wearing khaki pants and a blue polo shirt. He is listed as a director with the Algonquin Club of Boston, so he’ll be well dressed.  He appears to have reddish brown thinning hair and blue eyes. Rockefeller allegedly uses multiple aliases and may or may not be related to the illustrious Rockefeller family.

Reigh Storrow Mills Boss, aka Rockefeller, is 4 feet tall, weighs 50 pounds, and has blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink and white sundress, red shoes, and sunglasses, and may be in New York City or Bermuda.  She is very bright and articulate, but police stress she may be in danger.

Warrants have been issued for Clark Rockefeller on charges of kidnapping, assault and battery, and assault and battery with a deadly weapon (the SUV).

Authorities now believe that Rockefeller, a millionaire mathematician, made plans to steal his daughter and go to Long Island to pick up a new 72-foot yacht, SerenitySerenity reviewsSerenity reviews, from Long Island.  At this time, the boat has not been accounted for and it appears that Rockefeller planned to head for Bermuda with Reigh.  A search center has been set up at the Four Seasons Boston, where Sandra Boss is staying during the search for her daughter.   Anyone with information is asked to call 508-820-2121or 617-343-4328.

Yeah, this certainly is going to make his daughter love her Daddy. What an idiot the man is, his self-centered nature is obvious. He wanted his little daughter-dolly and so he took her. The effect on the girl meant nothing to him.

I think dragging a social worker behind an SUV in front of Reigh would lead police to believe that the guy will not stop at harming whoever necessary to get away with his kid, up to and including the kid herself. But the main motive seems to be money. And since Clark Rockefeller doesn’t wanna pay a bazillion dollars worth of child support, it makes sense that there might be concern for Reigh’s physical safety. Not to mention her emotional well-being at being yanked up and abducted like that.

If he makes it seem more like a game to her, she shouldn’t be tramatized. But I feel so bad for her mother! She has to be beside herself. She obviously knew he would attempt something like this. I hope she turns up safely and returned to her mom.

New info: Reigh’s mother’s name is Sandra Boss. and Reigh’s legal name is Reigh Storrow Mills Boss as of November 30, 2007. J. Clark Rockefeller signed the name change, which was petitioned by Sandra Boss.

It now appears that J. Clark Rockefeller uses various aliases and may not even be related to the illustrious Rockefeller family. As it happens, Sandra Boss appears to be the one with the cash in the family- she is a graduate of both Harvard and Stanford, and has ties to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and to Edith Wharton’s estate. The family home in Boston is worth over $2 million.

The Boss-Rockefeller divorce is now final, but records were ordered sealed, so it’s not clear why supervised visits were ordered.

poor kid. i hope she grows up to make a better choice in men.

from wiki on edith wharton: In 1885, at twenty-three years of age, she married Edward (Teddy) Robbins Wharton, who was twelve years her senior. From a well-established Boston family, he was a sportsman and a gentleman of Miss Wharton’s social class and shared her love of travel, although they had little in common intellectually. He began spending money on younger women and this began to take a toll on Wharton’s mental health. They divorced in 1913, after he suffered a nervous breakdown and was confined to a hospital.

then she became an expat in france.

As of today, Clark Rockefeller may have picked up his boat, Serenity, in Long Island.

Other aliases for Clark Rockefeller: J.P. Clark Rockefeller, James Frederick, Clark Mill Rockefeller and Michael Brown. He apparently would neither confirm or deny his relationship to the Rockefeller family in press interviews from earlier years.

The most common form of kidnapping there is and male and females almost do it in equal numbers. Sure, there are some cases where the kid has to be kidnapped for their safety but most of the time? It’s a way to get back at the other parent for getting custody, leaving, etc. Nothingsays love more than using your kid(s) as a pawn. NOT!

It is upsetting that you can’t even trust child services to supervise visitation properly……. grrr I am sure the worker tried to protect that child before being dragged down the street but that isn’t good enough for me. Sounds like there were two drivers that helped him get to NY.

SUV owner is Darryl Hopkins, 54, a livery driver

Rockefeller switched to a car driven by a female friend who took him and his daughter to New York. That woman, whose name was not released yesterday, also was being interviewed by authorities, including the FBI, according to one of the officials.

Hopkins told Boston police that Rockefeller had paid him $1,000 to pick him up on Sunday and drive him away, said the two officials. Hopkins said Rockefeller told him he was trying to get away from someone who had been harassing him, the officials said

The SUV was from a livery service. The driver dropped them off at a hospital where they jumped into a cab. No word on why the driver didn’t stop when the social worker was hanging onto the SUV.

Sometime later he connected with an unwitting friend who drove him to NYC. She dropped them off at Grand Central terminal.

I just have a feeling about this one. I kinda think that if they don’t find her today, it’s gonna be awhile.

I know that Massachusetts has some crazy mom-centric custody laws, but how does a millionaire with a good lawyer end up with only infrequent, supervised visits and a name change for his child?

There are issues here we haven’t been told about. I suspect he’s had this planned for quite some time.

  27. mommyto3luckyme

I guess it’s good that I live in MA in case I ever need to go for custody of my kids.
I have heard many times that MA is unfair to fathers.

From what I read the father was always the one to take care of Reigh. That he was a stay at home Dad while his wife worked. So it does seem strange to me that the judge would order full custody to the mother & only supervised visits with the Dad. It makes me think there is something we don’t know about the divorce, etc.

Plus the mother did say she thought the father could hurt Reigh.

I wonder how much money he has on him. At some point he’s going to need to withdraw money. If he just paid $1500.00 to go from Boston to the hosp & then from the hosp. to NY he must have a lot on him.

Reigh wears glasses most of the time – it would really help for police to issue a photo of her in her glasses, with her hair photoshopped in a pixie cut, dyed dark.

And Clark Rockefeller’s hair is already orangey blond in the picture above. I’d bet on a toupee for him, or a ball cap, or a much darker dye job.

    So happy she was found!

I was just reading more of the story below. I can’t believe he agreed to give up custody of her to the mother instead of saying his real identity. Who is this guy?

    http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/17072721/detail.html

Clark Rockefeller, the man accused of abducting his daughter in a Back-Bay neighborhood Sunday, chose to give up custody of the 7-year-old girl in order to keep his identity a secret, according to the Boston Herald.

Rockefeller reportedly signed off on a divorce settlement with his ex-wife last year after she exposed him as a fraud in court. The Herald cites an unnamed source who said that Rockefeller agreed to relinquish all custodial privileges in the arrangement, and was allowed only supervised visits with his daughter.

Ex-wife Sandra Boss claimed that Rockefeller had created his phony alias to pretend he had a connection to the wealthy oil family. It is still unclear whether Boss ever knew Rockefeller’s true identity. He was unable to provide a copy of his birth certificate to Boss’ lawyers.

In exchange for full custody of her daughter, Boss agreed to give Rockefeller almost $1 million. Reigh Storrow Mills Boss then moved to London with her mother, a wealthy managing consultant, in December. Boss had finished paying out the settlement to Rockefeller only weeks before he allegedly abducted the girl, according to the source.

Rockefeller was his daughter’s primary care provider from the day she was born, sources said. He took Reigh to and from school, watched her while his wife worked long hours and was in charge of her discipline.

“The mother was always working and he essentially raised the child . . . but the father was a control freak,” said the source. “Ultimately, he refused to say who he really was, so she got custody.”

    http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/17074593/detail.html

By all accounts, Rockefeller had raised the child since she was an infant while the mother worked. He ceded custody of her to Boss earlier this year, however, rather than reveal his true identity, according to a Boston Herald report.

Boss paid him nearly $1 million as part of the divorce proceedings, the Herald reported.

A spokesman for the famous Rockefeller family, descended from Standard Oil billionaire John D. Rockefeller Sr., said he was not part of the wealthy clan.

This guy’s fascinating. I’ve seen him described as a con man, unemployed, as wealthy and reknowned scientist. No birth certificate or SS# for him that they’ve been able to find — that’s because he’s not who he says he is. Perhaps he’s not American and waltzed in illegally and has been hiding that. What’s his story? And to raise a child for 7 years and then cede custody rather than admit who you really are?

    Two scenarios spring to mind:

    1. He’s got some truly horrific criminal past and would spend the rest of his life behind bars if anyone knew who he was.

    2. He is a quirky, eccentric billionaire son of some big family (yes, like the Rockefellers) who wanted to make a complete break with them. They probably don’t know where he is or haven’t seen him in 25 years or so.

    Oh, or 3. He’s actually D.B. Cooper.
