Bossier City, LA - It seems like Casey Hardt, 18, didn’t want to be all that she could be in the Army. She shouldn’t have joined if she were not willing to fulfill her obligations. However, this immature party gal thought it might be fun to join and hang out with all the guys. If you look at her photos on her MySpace, she seems to be having fun. She likes to show off her dog tags out of uniform and just mug for the camera in general. That top right photo is captioned, “No, fuck YOU Uncle Sam”.

No Casey, you are not “cool” like you keep saying you are in your MySpace. You are just another bitch ass coward who couldn’t stick it out and left someone else to do your job. So what happened? Did the fun stop? Were you actually going to have to do some real work? Maybe you just met some dick and couldn’t bear to leave him? So you just took off.

Casey Hardt was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. The cowardly bitch was hiding out in Louisiana with some guy. Police stopped her on traffic. What a stupid girl. Common sense dictates that if you are a wanted fugitive, don’t attract police attention. Upon discovery that Casey was a wanted deserter from the U.S. Army, she was arrested.

Casey Hardt is now sitting in a maximum security jail waiting to be extradited by the army back to Ft. Leonard Wood. It’s no longer, ” Fuck YOU Uncle Sam.” It’s Fuck YOU Casey Hardt! You are a disgrace to yourself, your family and your country. Hooah!

Sorry, UC, but I just don’t see this as a DD Front-page-worthy kind of crime. Geez-o-pete, what’s next? Litterbugs? Jaywalkers?

Is she immature and irresponsible? Sure. Will she now pay for her mistake? Yep. No harm, no foul, in my book.

  2. Dakota Valkyrie says:

Wondered about it myself, Ruby. While this may seem little in the scheme of things here at D’D, them gals that choose the penis over other obligations have to start somewhere… just sayin’

She had no intention of anything. After all, her “if you add one it’s yours forever” personal URL on MySpace is “Private Hardt”. She’s bad at thinking ahead or just knew she’d never get a higher rank.

  3. polis says:

I don’t think she left for a guy. She was getting shipped overseas, and more than likely to the middle east. I think she got scared and ran away.

  4. feisty76 says:

I am going to respectfully disagree with your viewpoint Ruby. Deserting from the Army is actually a serious crime and the dishonorable discharge that she will undoubtedly receive will haunt her for the rest of her life. Any employer can and most likely will ask about prior military service and a dishonorable discharge is a huge strike against her. To equate that with being a litterbug or jaywalker is just not accurate to me.

I am also an Army wife, married to someone who takes his job in the military very seriously. He is deploying soon and isn’t shying away from the commitment that he has made. When you decide to enlist, you take an oath and it is not to be taken lightly. I take offense to Private Hardt’s cowardly action because of all the other soldiers who do step up and serve their country, who risk their lives, and who don’t see it as a joke.

    Hooah!

Right where she belongs, in jail.

I must disagree. As a vet I find her actions disgraceful at best, and cowardly for sure.

I might not have front paged it, but she deserves every bit of shame and venom this group might bring to her.

Your word is your bond, sign the papers, do the job and move on if you want, but first you must fulfill your obligation you singed up for.

Sometimes I want to write about something a little different than babies burning up in cars and kids murdering their parents. I will be quite happy for you to take over for me on the FP. Bah…

  9. polis says:

I feel for her. I know a lot of stupid idiots that have either tried committing suicide or some other stupid act to get out of the service. She wasn’t AWOL for long, and honestly, this may seem sexist, but i’m female. I don’t think she had the maturity of knowing what exactly she was getting into. Recruiters sugar coat everything! My uncle a former recruiter and warrant officer, would tell me stories.

I think she already has to live with the shame on her record. I seriously do not think we should waste military money keeping her locked up. Discharge her. Leave her in the redneck town she came from, and let her become another unproductive member of society.

I rather her not go, because maybe if she did end up over there, and when the situation would arise where her fellow soldiers need her, she’s there peeing herself silly, and letting everyone around her get it. Pffft, she is too much of a risk to go over there and I doubt she’d be useful.

At first, I too was nonplussed to see this on the Demon’s front page. It just didn’t seem… Well, the stuff one usually sees here on Demon.

    Then I realized something.

This is a girl who thinks nothing of making a commitment, then reneging on it. I bet in about two years (or less) we’ll be seeing her back here on Demon. Only this time she’ll have decided she either prefers having a penis around more than her baby or decides having a baby is more commitment than she planned for and forgets him or her in the car. Or the bathtub.

Remember, these commitment-phobes have to start somewhere.

  11. Lizard says:

Thank you, AnneInChicago, from LizardInCentralIllinois. Actually, thank you to UCat and to everyone who has commented on this case, because in some ways it’s quite unique. We all know the Demon is a public shaming site…is there some “level” of horror that must be reached before we as a “community” will offer up a hearty “tsk-tsk”? Must it be a Casey Anthony “where-the-fuck-is-your-child-and-what’s with-the fucking-lies?’ kind of situation? Does someone have to die or be suspected of being dead before a story is worthy of the front page? (Don’t answer that; I ask rhetorically. Many of our stories involve crimes that did not result in death.) I almost feel like we should cry to the heavens for our Athena to take this question to the forum’s “Three Things.”

To me, Casey Hardt is so young. I understand mistakes and roads that were best not taken at such an age. But were I to so publicly thumb my nose at the teat at which I suckle, I hope someone would say, “Hey, dumb ass! Yah, kudos for not starting out on the road of popping out a kid every nine months or so, but…er, ever consider…like, an entry-level job in your hometown? Maybe, um, some classes at your local community college?”

I agree 100%. My husbands nephew went AWOL from the Army. When he was finally found out (he lied to his family and claimed he was honorably discharged) and turned in almost a year later, the Army did NOTHING! I was soo freakin pissed! The spoiled little shit didn’t even get a dishonorable for it!

Being a deserter is a BIG deal! It’s indicitive of your character and screams “Hey, I’m a fucking loser!”. It should garner a dishonorable (which makes you roughly equivalent to a felon in many states) and publicly shamed with all the other losers.

  13. andrea says:

I’d also just like to add that the hubby’s nephew is almost identical to Casey Anthony in the way he operates. He’s a lying, narcissistic, sociopath. I will die of shock if his life doesn’t go down in a big flaming ball of shit when all is said and done.

I agree this is a serious crime. She knew the consequences of desertion and deserves the punishment.

I am a very proud Army wife, my husband, is currently serving in Iraq as I type and he takes his commitment seriously. He would love to be home with his family and friends.

It does not seem fair to the men and women that stand by their commitment and sacrifice daily that she should be not held accountable.

    Thank you UCat for posting!

    Hooah!

Some people dont think this is front page worthy, however as a female member of the Royal Canadian Artillery….( yes Canada has women in the combat arms) Its nice to see whores like this get some publicity. SLUT! Get ur fuckin shit together and serve ur time….. Remeber U fucking volunteered for this shit!
    Fuckin piss me off!!

  16. Kathy says:

    UCat you are awesome.

And who are we kidding? The cleavage shot is what got this story front page status. I bet Morbid will probably sticky it to the top so he can see it every morning when he logs on.

    YAY for boobies!!

  17. Sorry, UC, but I just don’t see this as a DD Front-page-worthy kind of crime. Geez-o-pete, what’s next? Litterbugs? Jaywalkers?

I’ve read all the comments and I served the Army in my younger years. Desertion is despicable but it happens everyday, there are way too many individuals contributing to the Army for one or two to not get bored, disaffected, etc and walk off.

The Army has its hands full and they don’t expend resources tracking you down, that was our big fear early on, they’d be tailing us with dogs before we broke the outer perimeter. But truth be told, Army justice, like any other justice in the nation, isn’t watching you and waiting for a non-compliance act. They are doing their thing and trusting you to do your thing. Someone goes AWOL? Oh well, add a check to the AWOL column and bring in one of the privates on the reserve list. No worries.

The living on the lam, tracked by computers in squad cars and at border crossings, is what breaks them down. Eventually they might get a dose of religion, or conscience, whatever you call it, and turn themselves in, some will blow off a red light or roll through a 4-way and get busted. AWOL is a crime and law enforcement agencies across the nation are tied into the system to identify those with unfinished military business.

I watched several guys, it was a combat unit so we had no girls to watch, go AWOL once, twice, sometimes more, before they were unceremoniously processed out and given, at worst, general discharges. Its probably related to the bureaucracy involved in a court-martial, if you convened a general courts-martial every time you recovered an AWOL we’d never get bullets downrange. And that is what they do best, put fire on the enemy.

I don’t have extra effort to shame some confused little girl that thought doing boy stuff would make her seem cuter. So the Army wasn’t her thing, hope the Waffle House is. Having been there and contemplated the option a time or two, when it got real bad, and standing 15 years after choosing to honor my word, I know she’s fucked herself more than she could possibly know today. Karma doesn’t sleep.

  18. Kathy says:
So the Army wasn’t her thing, hope the Waffle House is.

    Bwa-hahahahaha!!!!

The waffle house is the job of my nightmares.

  19. Ruby says:

UCat, I understand wanting to write on something different. It doesn’t strike me as anywhere near the crime it strikes some of you as, but that’s ok. Different strokes. As for me on the FP? I’m not welcome here - they don’t trust me! Smart site owners. :)

Polis, I absolutely do not agree that she should just be set free. I agree with others here that she made a commitment and has an obligation to fulfill that commitment, or accept the consequences.

I agree. She was arrested and turned over to the army; I presume she will be held accountable. My original point was not that she should not be accountable, but rather that this is kind of small potatoes and happens every day. It just didn’t seem “newsworthy” to me. Apparently, other folks think it is. I can hang with that.

    Peace, out.

  20. Athena says:

I feel uncomfortable with the blanket generalizations made about those who go AWOL. Was this chick a coward? Yeah, probably. But

I don’t know any deserters, myself. I do know several soldiers that are on their third and fourth tours since the war began and have been stop-lossed; I do know one who served two tours and is SO FUCKED UP from it, he just about offed himself when they reissued him military I.D., thinking they were about to call him back. That kid’s still not out of the woods, and the damage military service has done him and the lack of help he’s getting from the shitty VA makes me want to stand out front of the local recruiting office and beg people to not sign up.

So, while I mean no disrespect to the Army wives posting here (lord knows, I wouldn’t do it), I’m not going to presume for a second that I know what can lead someone to desert. These people realize there are potentially dire consequences and it doesn’t stop them from taking off. I’m not going to pretend to know what that’s like, and I’m not going to sit here an demonize deserters as a whole.

  21. mg2 says:

I am not a Army wife but an AF one…

I dont know…looking at her page she thought the Army was cool enough to brag about being in it.

If she didn’t want to deploy she shouldn’t have joined. I know plenty of people (including my brother in law) that joins because they get some huge bonus. Well guess what? They give you that huge bonus cause the job is hard at some point you are going to get deployed! Especially in the last 5 years or so. You really have to be honourable and love your country and want to serve in order to join.

I have the upmost respect for my husband and the other soldiers that are here to protect us. There are plenty of honourable soldiers deploying everyday (and working here stateside!), from what i have seen of this girl she did not represent the honor of our soldiers, so maybe it is best she went AWOL.

  22. Dakota Valkyrie says:
Casey Hardt spent last Christmas Eve on the streets. After her father kicked her out, the teen said she stayed with friends. But that night, there was nowhere to stay. In the three years she’s been homeless, Hardt has stayed at a Klamath Falls shelter for homeless teens, runaways and foster kids at least five times.

The first time she stayed at Exodus House two months, but left because she didn’t like the rigid rules. She stayed with more friends and her sister before she turned up at the shelter again. And again.

Today, she lives with friends in Klamath Falls and plans to go into the military.

That quote is from article about a local shelter in December of 2007. Hardt must have been barely out of Basic when she deserted.

Looks like she had a history of not liking rules and running. *shrugs*

    And this is newsworthy because….?

  24. HeatherLeann says:

Man, not to say what she did was right, but lumping her in with baby-killers is a little fucked up. It would be different if this site posted shit like this frequently. However, what the site mostly posts is the worst of the worst, and I’m sorry, she’s not it…

  25. sexpanther says:

U know alot of people are saying they dont like the “Judgment” Thats fine everyone is entitled to an oppinion… ive served over seas ive done my job ive served my country for 9 years and disapearing without informing ur higher ups and shit is CRAP!!!!!! Just for a second think about the other point of view….K fine shes a deserter….but what else… she is extremly irresponsible and guess what tax payers… her desertion has come out of your pocket…She ows the U.S government a shit load of money for not turning in her kit!!…not only that but seriously come on folks.. its not hard to get outa the fucking military these days.. if it wasnt her thing she shoulda fuckin told someone…for u civi folk who may not be to educated on the whole Voluntary release shit..ITS FUCKING EASY AND ANYONE CAN DO IT!

  26. sexpanther says:

Oh and P.S I think its funny she got posted on here!!!….

  27. Rory28 says:

I guess some people here don’t like to admit that a HUUUGE amount of people who join forces,do it SOULY for the purpose of the free education side of it,being poor,or what not…NOT everyone who joins the army IS ready and willing to KILL or be killed…Don’t like it?,Don’t bait people with the education aspect ;-)…Just sayin’ ;-)…

  28. feisty76 says:

    Rory,
As the spouse of a deployed soldier, I don’t quite get where you are going with this. Honestly, I don’t think ANYBODY is ready to kill or be killed, but when you join the Army, you sign a contract and you take an oath. Regardless of your motives for joining, at that point you are there for “the needs the Army” and they don’t take kindly to those who opt to go AWOL.
