Actually, I did notice that a few posters were apparently thinking I was a guy. I went back and forth about making some big announcement but figured in this particular thread, me “being a guy” would only help my credibility. [shrugs] Oh, well.
Now, for you nosy Nancies, not only am I female but I’m also heterosexual and just celebrated my 19th wedding anniversary. I’ve put on weight since I’ve gotten older, but I’m mainly delighted about the fact I had to get a bigger bra. Finally, my 8-month-old puppy insists on sleeping with her nose jammed between my neck and the mattress. I don’t know how the hell she gets any oxygen.

Thank you for being kind enough to let me “get stuff off my chest.” I’ve really hurt about this terrible thing, but I’ll tell you, I recently saw Couty’s family and Christa’s family and they are doing well. God is alive and well and pouring His love and grace over them. Continue to pray for these families and Couty that his heart would change……
I’m not running outta here for no other reason than I need to focus energies now on other areas. Peace to you all.

GOD SAID FOGIVE and do we listen no not at all … at on our knees at the cross we should fall…. And though the fans of wives submitting to their husbands seem to have left, I want to add that Christians do not organize their homes that way because there is no such thing as a 50-50 relationship nor because every company has a president and a vice president. They do it because it’s in the Bible. The other reasons given are rationalizations, trying to make sense of what is nonsensical.

All I heard was “blah, blah, blah” to the beat. I thought I recognized the beat as bible thumping. Since then I have learned that it was my gagging distorted by a hearing aid that needed a new battery.

He never really knew who he was, just stumbled along trying to please the others. After all, they knew what God wanted better than he did. He was young and they had all seemed happy in their lives.
When it was time for him to marry, he ended up marrying the girl who picked him — interesting, isn’t it? And he got to be the small God of his household, a small God with one submitted servant. And bills to pay and suddenly, immediately after marrying, a child on the way to lock him into this world for the rest of his life.
Secretly, he had been playing with what would be labeled “evil” by the rest of his world — dared to have a myspace page all his own that no one knew about — hung out with friends who thought his innocence was cute and funny and led him on a bit. They wanted to help him break out, to have fun, they didn’t see the tension and conflict that this meant for a young man who had never known any other world except the controlling one that he would have to give up if he really stepped out of bounds.
When the thrill and bustle of the wedding faded, the ordinariness of every day life returned,and suddenly news of the baby arrived, he realized that he was on the edge — there was no way to pretend that he could have a foot in both worlds. He had to choose one or the other. The one was enticing and dangerous and uncharted. The other was familiar, suffocating, rigid, predictable to death. The one was associated with Satan; the dull life with God.
If Couty hadn’t cracked and done what he did, he might have found that being a father was worth giving up everything that his religion put outside the bounds. But he moved fast and I can’t even begin to speculate why killing Christa seemed to be an answer.
I wonder if the trial will provide any answers. I wonder if I’m right or wrong here. Again, let me say that this is PURE SPECULATION.

Jul 21, 2008 at 9:33 am -I remembered that somewhere back in the maze of comments a poster said that Christa told her Dad that if Couty ever showed interest in her, he was the one she wanted. So is it just a coincidence that he ended up with her? He could love her and end up with everyone else’s choice for him in this just as he may have ended up choosing what other people wanted him to do in much of his life.
And I’m not in any way saying that Christa trapped him or anything. But I bet that if he’d shown interest in, say, his partner at the EMS squad, his world would have united to steer him away from her. So he was not exercising free choice — and he ends up in love with the girl who made it clear that she wanted him — not to him, but to her father. Christa sounds like a wonderful person and in this case the end result gave him someone who loved him. We should all be so lucky.
As for the rest, I feel compassion for this guy up to the point where he chose to kill another person. It’s hard to be locked into a social system by ties of love and also by the fear of being damned and at the same time to see that there is life beyond its boundaries. Especially when there seems to be no real harm in the “wild” life and yet choosing it means be repudiated and humiliated by the “forgiveness” of those who once held you in high esteem.
I hope that we do someday understand what Couty was thinking. But I guess he’s not talking now for his own reasons or has been advised to remain silent.

Jul 21, 2008 at 12:21 pm -Ok, I just can’t get over this post as I believe it is the FIRST to claim to be one of the “worldly” friends. I am baffled really. I hope this opinion does not represent the view of his worldly friends. I do believe they are reading.
So, because a friend, a buddy, or coworker can say they “forgive” Couty for piercing a bullet into the brain of the woman he commited to love and protect before God and his family, someone who most likely was feeling flutters of the baby girl they concieved in her womb, instantly killing her and gradual suffocating and depriving oxygen and blood to his tiny fluttering baby and because you, a buddy, can “forgive”… its ok and the people here should back off. Really. Do the rest of his “friends” feel that way too?
Purely speculation, but I’d put bet Brandon also is part of that “zero-to-hero” program that puts these very young people with no experience, nor in most cases the maturity and apptitude to get in a traditional secondary education program, the medic ticket to fill that “warm body” seat on those units making life and death decisions. It is an enviroment that egos run rampant again with “para-god” syndrome being a real problem.
I guess it really struck a nerve with whole “take a life” “save a life” being thrown out in that post.

Judge denial reduced bail for Alexander
LIVINGSTON - Judge Zoey Waguespack refused a bond reduction request Monday made by a man arrested June 29 for the murder of his pregnant wife.
Couty Alexander, 22, of 18059 Watts Road in the Colyell area, remains in the Livingston Parish jail on a $675,000 bond, Sheriff’s spokesman Perry Rushing said.
Judge Waguespack not only refused to reduce Alexander’s bond, she added a stipulation that if he ever was released on bond, the suspect would have to wear a GPS location monitor, Rushing said.
The murder victim, 24-year old Christa Ann Alexander, was 16 weeks pregnant when she was shot in the head from behind, according to autopsy results, Sheriff’s Chief of Operations Jason Ard said the week following the murder.
The victim was shot with a 9mm handgun, and the weapon has been recovered, Ard said.
Obstruction of justice was added to the second-degree murder and feticide charges, Ard said.
The obstruction of justice charge was added because the couple’s home had been ransacked, with drawers and cabinets opened to look as if the homicide was related to a burglary, Ard said.
Couty Alexander placed a 911 call around 6 a.m. Sunday, June 29, reporting his wife’s death, Ard said.
The suspect told detectives that he found his wife’s body when he came home after working a night shift as an emergency medical technician, Ard said.
Detectives believe that the murder was committed before Couty Alexander left for work, Ard said.

Jul 26, 2008 at 10:48 pm -I’ve been very busy lately but I came by and realized nobody had heard the news from a hearing on Monday. For those of you who might be following the situation and know the families they did confirm that Couty was having an affair (it actually began before the wedding evidently) with a coworker (my recollection is someone was hinting at the Allison in his top 8 on myspace? but that is not confirmed that I know of). He is evidently completely “unrepentant” (read: not sorry in the least) and somehow was dumb enough to think he could get away with it. Of course this is just as bizarre to me as ever to think he would go ahead and marry her even if he knew he liked this other person…and then decide the best way out of it later was to kill Christa???? Also interesting side note–on a trip to his myspace I found that all of his top “8″ (one is gone leaving it 7 and one of those is “Tom” haha) seem to have changed their profiles over to private. Think they’ve been getting a little unwanted traffic (especially whichever one he was having the affair with)??

I guess I’m not surprised to hear that it looks like he was having an affair, but I’m with you. Why proceed with the wedding? Did he think he was capable of successfully living two lives? Did he see his affair as a “sowing of wild oats”? And unrepentant? Damn. This goes completely against what I would expect, given the way and the environment in which he was raised.

I talked with someone who has visited him in jail twice. He said that Couty is very repentant. I just thought I would let you know. I just thought I would ask someone who has visited him personally. Maybe someone has seen something different. I don’t know. He did admit to her father about the affair. How long it was going on I don’t know. It is just a very sad situation.

Since we have no “official” reports of whether he is repentent or whether he was having an affair, I’m reluctant to describe either statement as “fact.” If anyone knows his next court date, please post it here, and thanks.

Hey Isaiah, I’m not sure about that because while I was not personally there I am getting my information from Christa’s father (through my best friend but I have no reason to believe she is twisting the story). I have heard multiple times that he was described as not being sorry and the most recent was at his court date on Monday. Perhaps though he is giving one side to the family and another side to his friends?

Well, I believe you might be right. Do you know anyone who was at the court date on Monday? They would certainly know his demeanor and how he responded when questioned. He could certainly be acting one way and then another with people who visit him. It is obvious anyone who gets to the point of killing someone is not the most trustworthy person. Does Christa’s dad know when the next court date is? I would really like to see first hand what goes on. At least, I think I would.

I am under the impression some of her family was there (that’s how I got the info I had) and I’m assuming his was as well. If I find out the next date I will let you know. I do not live near the area so I am not able to attend myself.
I also have to wonder if his tears to friends might be more along the lines of “oops I was caught” and not I’m sorry?

What is more sad is that there is a lot of sympathy for Allison, as well as Couty , for him being “pushed” and “trapped” into this marriage by his extreme religious family according to the outside “friends”. That perspective is just sickening to me. Does anyone think a jury would also feel this sympathy?

So, yes, he drifted along where his family wanted him to go, then tried to free himself from wife and baby with a bullet and a created scenario that would make him the focus of sympathetic support — widower of a murdered wife.

Who knows, maybe some jails allow limited Internet access. I have no idea. I’m not a felon.
