Can I get a “hallelujah”? Preach it, ma.

Jul 16, 2008 at 1:48 pm -So, you think Couty is the first Baptist to ever kill their spouse?
You got a lotta nerve to bring up social skills! I think Hippies daughter will be just fine! Yours, I’m not so sure about.
Now, for the christian kicker….
That was a rite nice christian comment! I’ve noticed that you like to call people crack heads, when you don’t like what they have to say. Now you stoop to threatning, to send your husband, to kick a womans ass. Just because she said something you didn’t like. You, are the bully here, to bad you’re not bright enough to see that.

Jul 16, 2008 at 11:34 pm -Thank you Mo Army Mom, I’d like to think so too. Both of my kids seem to be bright individuals who I know will become truly corruptive beings to human society when they grow up…. lol
Seriously, I am extremely proud of my children. But I do have to laugh at people who try to judge my children by a few paragraphs I write on a news blog….I mean really???? Again, talk about judgmental people. *rolls eyes*
And hey…..btw, Happy Birthday to the Mister Mo Mom(He’s on the LIST!)

Hippie please forgive us. I’m gonna stand in the gap here for peace. We’re here to discuss Couty, not attack each other, or threaten to…… :o)

Jul 17, 2008 at 12:25 am -Just thought I would add one comment for those who think only those scoring a 34 or 35 on an ACT tests are “educated”. In 2007 only 314 scored a 36; 2,471 scored a 35; 5,420 scored a 34; 9,033 scored a 33; 13,626 scored a 32; 18,943 scored a 31; 26,203 scored a 30; 32,145 scored a 29; 41,009 scored a 28. Most scores were a 21. Two people scored a 4; 3 people a 5; 204 scored an 8; 636 scored a 9. Since the largest numbers falls between 13 and 30, I would assume that almost all of American students must be uneducated. This would, by the way, include the public school too! I am not trying to be mean, I just think maybe people could quit being so critical of homeschoolers or public school kids.

Jul 17, 2008 at 12:32 am -then damn, my kid is frickin’ brilliant - she pulled a 35 at 16. Thanks for giving me the stats so i can annoy people.
But, um, those are really small numbers. Is that one state, or a county, or what? Got a link?

Jul 17, 2008 at 12:50 am -Me a guy. hahahahhahaha How in the world could she make that mistake, I believed I mentioned my husband in aiding me with the home schooling of our children. Maybe she missed that. I’ll have to go back & read my comment. (maybe I am wrong)
SnuggleBB…You say please forgive us. I only had a problem with Kim’s judgmental attitude & the generalizing of a group of people. So who is the US here? Disagreeing on something is okay, it’s normal and healthy that we not all be alike, but when you are a teacher and you judge children as I found Kimberly to do, I had a fucking problem with that.
I admit my foul mouth offends some. I will not apologize for that here in this forum, where it is okay to express myself verbally in any way I see fit. You see, some of us use our words to express our hatred and our disgust of folks in the world who just seem well, fucked up. Words are better than fists, guns, knives…etc. Do you see what I mean. I believe in a good tongue lashing as opposed to “I’m gonna kick your ass.” For me, I think, well okay, whip my ass, but I’m going to get back up, I’m still going to talk & I’m still going to voice my opinion. So unless someone kills my ass, I am not going down by some simple threat.
Thanks Snuggle for your comment really. Much appreciated and I hope I explained myself without looking like a “bully”. *wink* lol
Peace~

And I thank you, Snuggle, for your very nice apology to HP. I just wish you didn’t find it necessary to think of, say, me and HP as “them” and you and Kim as “us.” I mean, I get it, but I wish it weren’t that way.

Jul 17, 2008 at 1:48 am -I really hate I don’t have time to go back and respond to everyone individually but here is what I will say about all of the last three pages–you have your beliefs, I have mine, what I do with mine are my business and what you do with yours are your business. I apologize if any of my posts made it sound like I expected you to be in line with my personal opinions but I don’t THINK I did, the only thing I was trying to do was to explain where those people were coming from religiously. Therefore I’m not sure why everyone is freaking out at me. All I was pointing out is that in general most companies have ONE president and then a vice president. That isn’t the best model to compare it to I know because sometimes they have a lot of vice presidents. The thought is that generally you hope the two of you can come up with something you both agree on but geez people, the part about hubby making the final say so is not like gonna be the end of the world. I’m totally cool with that because it means if we screw up I can blame it all on him anyway!!
This has been quite the interesting discussion but it does seem to lean heavily to one side. And this has nothing to do with Couty & Christa but yeah whoever was freaking because a teacher didn’t believe in evolution?? It’s a theory. As is creationism. Because no one actually saw it happen and it can not be completely reproduced in a lab.
I also think it’s rather ridiculous of those who want to pick apart the grammatical structure of every post by those who came in here defending homeschool. We were offended by your lumping us all together as dumb people pretending to school our kids and last I checked this was just like a public discussion forum and not an essay contest or college paper. I’m just as tired of the discussion myself and even more so of those wanting to be the grammar police. I think the fact that we aren’t typing in chat speak means SOMEthing…

Jul 17, 2008 at 1:59 am -Meg, as I’ve said before, normally a conversation like this would occur in our forums, but we’ve had some “new” folks sign up solely because of what happened to Christa. But honestly, I’ve really enjoyed the, ahem, “discussion” here, because it truly reflects wildly divergent beliefs and opinions. I regret that we’ve lost a couple of voices, and I am sorry if you thought folks were “freaking out” on you, though, but I will say that in the 19-year-old “corporation” my spouse and I share, we pass the CEO-ship back and forth depending upon needs, abilities, and desires. And yet again, I get it, there’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to families and marriages. If you and your husband are able to raise happy and balanced children and to reach the end of your days believing you have done all that you were meant to do in this life, then kudos to you. Hell, kudos to any of us that manage that.

Jul 17, 2008 at 2:09 am -Ok…Ok…Ok…I was not serious about the ass kicking threat! It was meant as a joke. My husband was laughing his butt off when I typed that. Did ya’ll really think that Hippie was stupid enough to give me his address and that I would send my husband after him??? I was not serious in anyway, so let me apologize for assuming that others wouldn’t take it serious. Oh and yes I did think that Hippie was a man. Sorry for that mistake as well. It seems that everyone in here is very intense and uptight. I thought it was kind of funny, and had no idea that everyone would take me so seriously.
Everyone acts as if I am picking on Hippie. Did anyone read the messages he left about me? Seriously people…I thought I went very easy on him.
I teach 8th grade Language Arts and 1 Sophomore level night class at a local accredited (Did I spell it right?) I had the highest language arts scores in the parish for the last 2 years. Oh and about the evolution comment…I don’t think I know a teacher that believes in evolution, but there is a lot to say on that topic, and that is not what this discussion is about.
I am not the kind of person that looks down on other people. I am not perfect, and I do not claim to be. I have the right to be vocal about my opinions just as anyone else. I do NOT want to be judgemental, (I knew it had an “e” smartasses) so I am sorry if my sarcasm/humor gave some of you the wrong idea. Christians are not perfect just forgiven. It seems to me that those of us who call ourselves Christians are not very welcome in this forum.

Jul 17, 2008 at 2:27 am -I am sorry if you feel that is the case, Kim, although I’m not going to say you’re completely inaccurate. I will say, however, that any opinions regarding what led Couty to kill Christa are more than welcome here. This site does feature a lot of spirited–and sometimes uncomfortable–discussions regarding a wide range of topics. While you may find you’re not willing to continue a dialogue on some of those topics, I hope you’re game to hang out with us while we pursue the question that started this story: What the hell was going on in Couty’s head that led him to where he is now?

I mentioned in my first post directed to you that my husband and I were complimented on how well we did with my daughter…I thought you were smart enough to figure out that I was a woman and not a man.
I don’t believe I like you Kimberly, so I’ll try like a motherfucker to ignore your small minded ass. Ya know what else, I think if I would have threatened to kick your ass, you’d have been all fucking insane in my shit. Hell I gave you a tongue lashing and you call me a crackhead. Go fuck yourself.
I am a woman, a mother, a nurse, a poet, a writer, nature lover, tree hugger, deadhead, country girl, and many other fucking wonderful things…..nope, never been a man in this life….though in my last life I am pretty sure I was a brother.
Nope don’t care for you and your views Miss thing, and I sure in the fuck don’t care for a pussy like Couty who shot his wife in the back of the head. Intense and uptight….yeppers I get that way with folks who want to act like idiots. Folks who don’t want to believe anything outside their own fucking box. Folks that come here on some high ass Christian horse and then sling some fucking shit. Did they teach you in that church you attend to call people crackheads? Do they teach you to be judgmental when it comes to others? Did they teach you to threaten others when you don’t like what they say?
Know what Kimberly, church & your god, don’t seem to be doing you a damn bit of good. Fuck I am glad I am not you. I’m pretty sure I’d fucking kill myself if I was.

Jul 17, 2008 at 8:02 pm -I hav refrained from lowering myself to the level of some of these new posters, as I was raised in a Southern Baptist church–Not at all as regimented as this fundamentalist bunch, but devout in the beliefs all the same.
These posters have introduced just how closed-minded, pious people can be when it comes to one of their own. God made us in HIS image; but we are ALL sinners–EVER SINCE CREATION. This is what is expected of us–God knows our destiny and allows us to make up a part of this crazy world anyway. These folks seem to have forgotten that.
Educational quandries aside- The world’s biggest idiot, or one with the faith of a small child can accept Christ equally. Even a murderer like Couty.

Jul 17, 2008 at 10:11 pm -A marriage is supposed to be a union of hearts and minds, hardly at all like a president and vice president. I do find it strange that God looks at a married couple and says the creature with the penis has the final say, no matter education, information, temper, motivation, ability; no, it’s the penis that confers the power.
“I’m totally cool with that because it means if we screw up I can blame it all on him anyway!!”
I’ve read other Christian women say the above quote and it gives me chills. I’m sure you must be making a joke. To say, “Well, I skip away responsibility-free and leave him standing with egg on his face!” is not a pretty picture.
Besides, how will you feel when your husband makes a decision that, say, costs you your house? Giving the man final say just he cause he has a cock and balls is not good thinking. Why would God make such a request? And was it God or Jesus who said this?
384
michelle
Jul 17, 2008 at 11:19 pm -And who cares if after the bad decision was made he has egg on his face. If you stand right by tradition, you can’t call him on it or hang it over his head. What the hell is good about that? As the woman of the house I take great pride in telling hubby how fucked up his bad decision was. WTF is wrong with you?
I was also brought up very strict baptist, however, your question can only be answered by determining who it was adressed too.
Some baptist believe in the holy trinity meaning - God, Holy Ghost-Jesus all the same. Others believe God and Jesus the same. Still others believe all seperate. So to answer your question- it depends on your preacher, priest, savior.
STILL true.
Hahaha, I find that ultra illogical.

I think Isaiah said that he heard tale that Couty has said it was an accident. That’s is so far from the truth. How do I know? When you shoot and kill someone accidently say….by cleaning your gun or playing a retarded game of spin the bullets in the gun or whatever; when that thing goes off and hits the other person, you’d be screaming from one end of the street to the other and calling 911 right away!!! That said, it’s inherent in the beast that pretty much whatever you have to say (you being the collective you, not just you individually), a smartass or ten will show up and exercise his or her freedoms as well.
I have a number of views on the male domination subject that I think would be fun to discuss, but I will probably limit that to the forums (should a topic there arise) just because I don’t want to lose Christa in this.

Jul 18, 2008 at 7:38 am -Yes, I thought so. This source means nothing to me in terms of telling what God wants because I know the current Bible is a pick-and-choose situation. Books got tossed out because they didn’t serve the needs of the ones doing the choosing. It makes sense to me that this little hateful idea of Paul’s was preserved because it reflected the ideas of the men of that time. Too bad it’s still affecting people today.
The idea that God sets up a master-submitter relationship in what is supposed to be tender and personal is ridiculous to me. How sad that adult men even want this situation and adult women comply with it.
This alone is enough to keep me out of a church.
I had my ten-year-old cousin come to me and say that she’d decided that women could hold every job except President of the U.S. because “President is the top job and women have to have a man above them.” The poor girl was really struggling with the idea that she had to be subordinate to some man, somewhere because women aren’t allowed to teach men or some such junk. I pointed out that I thought God would rather than we have a good President who was a woman than a bad President who was a man. She was then really confused, as well she might be. What a waste of her time to have to think this through.
As I said, every time I click on this thread, I see the picture of Christa and I feel so sad. There she is, so happy on her wedding day, getting the man she wanted, and he’s looks dazzled, as if he can’t believe that it’s real and he has married her. Don’t think that I forget what this story is about — I want very much to know what Couty was thinking. and I wish so much that there was some way to change Christa’s fate.
