Are you seriously going to go here??? This is the judgemental attitude that I remember all too well. Are you seriously going to suggest that I or anyone else believe that government, public schools, or anything else is more important than God or that we don’t feel that God is all you need to be successful??? God gave us a brain for many reasons and one of them would be to educate ourselves. It just doesn’t seem that you recognize the importance of education and you are homeschooling your children? Just think…what if everyone thought like you? Who would be the doctor’s that you would go to when your kids were sick?

Judgmental, you’ve no room to talk about judgments, sister. Ye who judges the home schoolers.

One more thing Teach….. with your fucking degree, you misspelled judgmental. So one more time, cause it feels so fucking good to say it.
    Fuck Off.

    Hey Hippiepoet–
Lemme make clear, although your disagreement wasn’t with me, the home-schooled kids who are going to have big problems are kids who aren’t getting a decent education via home-schooling–kids whose parents think “Science” is a load of bunk and who teach their kids that anyone different from them (ooooo gay people!) is goin’ to hell. Just want to make it clear THAT’s the situation I’m speaking to, so unless that’s the situation of the hippiepoetkids, I’m sure it’d be an honor to have them in class ;)

As far as the husband-wife thing, the only thing I know to really try to explain to you is that in the eyes of God men and women are equals but in a marriage the woman is supposed to submit to the man (according to scripture). This is because you can never have an equal fifty-fifty partnership. Someone always has to make the final decision.

But partnerships don’t necessarily have to be master and submitter relationships. So God wants the house ruled by the creature who has the penis. Odd of God.

But, Christa would never want to return to this old earth. And through her death, God has used this to be a shining testimony of the grace of God.

Where was God’s grace testified to in all this? I think it’s crazy to say (as one poster did essentially) that God couldn’t stop Couty killing his wife so he made it a quick death. The Christian God seems like an unmerry prankster most of the time. I think you all have pretty confused ideas about the sacred.

And I happen to like “this old earth.” Why don’t you? After all, your God made it.

I dont know about anybody else, but this home schooling debate got old long ago with me. Why dont you guys start a Homeschooling blog somewhere else and yak about it there till youre blue in the face. It’s becoming boring as hell to read over and over and over about it. whether someone has been homeschooled or not has nothing to do with whether they will become murderers. And murder is what we’re talking about here.

Gotcha darling. I agree that closed minded dodo heads, who teach no Science, bad home schooling technique.

Kim has pissed me off with her generalizations on home schooled children. I have said that not every parent is the same, and yeah in the Hippie household, we used State approved curriculum, written by licensed teachers. We also teach our children about all religions so they can make their own decisions and their own choices in life, we do not just teach them “our” way of thinking.

    Peace~

Sorry Mikey, no need to get nasty, man. I am just passionate about certain things. You are right of course. Mikey, you know anyone can post anything they like, whether you like it or not, whether you are offended or not, whether you are bored by it or not. If you don’t want to read others’ posts, don’t read ‘em! Same goes for you, of course–post whatever seems relevant to the topic. But don’t try and shut up someone’s conversation by throwing around a “we.” The conversation goes wherever it goes, and the fact is “we” have indeed been talking about homeschooling–along with a lot of other shit as well. Jeebus. Frankly, if all we were talking about was indeed murder, this thread would have died out awhile back until we got an update. If ya don’t like, don’t read. Right?

I’ve been enjoying the talk about homeschooling, myself. So much uninformed conjecture based on inaccurate stereotypes combined with some wicked generalizing…From a drama perspective, it’s been a perfect storm! :P

Note: The above does not apply to everyone discussing the topic. I’m going to assume you folks know who you are. ;)

Edit: In light of the most recent comment, I’ll rephrase - Mikey, either contribute something productive or don’t. “We” don’t give a shit about your level of boredom. Don’t walk to talk about homeschooling? Great. Bring something up about the murder that’s worth discussing, or find some other way to waste your time. Just telling people to get back on topic for your sake makes you sound like a little kid throwing a fit.

And here I try to be diplomatic…

I took no offense, just simply feel like this is an open board….and I’d been gone, hadn’t read the shit yet, so it was still new information for me. Word of wisdom, if I find boring comments, I skip over them. ;) Peace~

You know, I’ve been thinking alot about this for a couple days (the homeschooling thing, sorry Mikey lol). And I’m wondering, maybe I am wrong. I think about how my child struggles because he has to fit in a mold and learn at the same pace as 30 other kids, and I wonder wouldn’t it be so much better if he had a teacher solely dedicated to him? How much better would his education be? Although I still think that the loss of the social aspect is a problem, I have to admit homeschooling has it’s benefits. Unfortunately, as a single working mom, I have no other option than to send my kid to public school. Although I’m not 100 percent convinced that home schooling is best, I have to admit, I’m jealous of those of you who are able to give your kids that option. It has it’s benefits

Isaiah, you say Couty’s been leading a double life for sometime. Maybe you could clue us in here what’s been going on with him. Did you see him begin to drink? Did you see behavior that was clearly against all he was ever taught? I’m wondering. Seems you might have a lil bit more insight than all of us. I knew the Alexanders but just cuz of the mother mostly. I am friends with her. But you seem to know Couty. Maybe you could help us understand the road he took that led him to this terrible place.

Snuggle, do you feel comfortable signing up in our forums? I can private message you then. I don’t want to send a bunch of unwanted traffic to these sites. If so, you just click the “forums” link in the maroon navigation bar–you have to sign up separately for the forums. I’ll watch for you and send you links then.

    Snugglebb,

For those who gave comments….I have never commented on this forum, and I did not recheck my writing. It was late, and I was tired when I wrote. It seems people like to really rake you over the coals whatever you say. I am writing this for you, Snubblebb, because you asked, and I certainly am not saying it to get any more criticism from others. For those others…sorry if the ACT scores were not high enough to satisfy anyone. I didn’t know that educated people only score a 34 or 35. I will check what the national average is to see how few of the homeschoolers and public schoolers are really educated. I guess a straight A college student who only scored a 24 must really be stupid.

Now, for you Snubblebb. Yes, I have known both families for about 11 years. Couty was a friend to my sons. He was a real encouragement to them through the years. The last 2 or 3 years since he was in EMS training we haven’t seen him very much. I do not wish to give every detail, but for the last 2 to 3 years those around him knew something was not the same. Each person saw different things, but no one ever put all of the things together. I just know in my experience, it doesn’t take long to get involved in things that can hurt you. He certainly tried to keep somewhat of a front for those who knew him as he was growing up. Different things I have seen show me a different man than the one I knew. Couty was very busy. He worked long hours, and he was studying for tests. We all just thought he was feeling under pressure about passing the tests. He and I talked at the end of May. He seemed normal to me. Obviously, any person who does something like this has problems in their thinking.

Our family attended their wedding and Christa’s funeral. It was hard to be in the same church building where just four months before such a happy occasion had taken place. I think only the people who knew Couty the best really knew things were not the same. They just never dreamed that this could happen. Couty has claimed it was an accident which, of course, doesn’t seem to be possible. Some have thought maybe he was involved with someone, and they shot her. They think he is covering for them. I really think none of us can know. We can only speculate.

I can tell you that two precious, loving families have been heartbroken. The Baker’s have been so loving and supportive of the Alexander’s family. Brother Baker and his wife are certainly sad, but they have a peace and grace from God that has given them strength. It has been most hard for Mrs. Alexander. With children of my own, I know how hard it must be for her to imagine her son doing such an awful thing. They are a close family. They have pulled together through this tragedy. It will be very difficult in the days ahead. It was hard for the families to find out the baby was a girl. To go and pack up at the house where the murdered happened was very hard for both families. I am sure Christa’s decorating was everywhere.

To the world and those that do not understand the beliefs these families had, they would think nothing really seemed strange or different about Couty. For us that knew him his myspace account alone is very different than the Couty we knew. The fact that Couty didn’t even tell his EMS friends his wife was pregnant is not the man we knew. He loved children; at least, the past Couty we knew did.

When things like this happen we all like to speculate. My children were told that he was different by those who knew him and saw him regularly.

This will be my last post, and my last time to read any comments on here. I am not use to such a vicious attitude by so many. I am not here to attack anyone. It would be nice if we could be more understanding of each other. I hope this answers some of what you asked. You can get on the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s office website. They have a place where you can register for any information on Couty. If he has a court date or something, they will email you. It is public information.

Thanks for your kind question and comment. I hope maybe in the future we will understand what made a man resort to this kind of behavior. The hardest thing is to know he can never turn back. A life with so much potential is now ruined; A young, sweet woman who brought joy to all who knew her is now gone too.

You really let me have it huh Hippie? I don’t know how I can go on living after that harsh expression of hatred. It’s a darn good thing I have all that experience as a public school teacher… otherwise being cussed out may have really hurt my feelings.

I am sick of the public school debate too. Let me be clear once again…I did not say that home school was responsible for the murder nor did I say that all homeschoolers were stupid. I know there are educated kids that are a product of homeschooling. I’m sure Hippie’s is freaking brilliant. This discussion began because we were attempting to look at all of Couty’s prior experiences. We have to look at the whole picture not just one portion.

Hippie, you are just a big bully in a discussion forum. What an accomplishment. I’m glad to hear that your daughter is in regular school because if she learns her social skills from you, she is going to have a tough life.

I do not believe in evolution either; however I have earned 2 degrees including a Master’s degree from a major credited college. Please don’t generalize and assume “Educated people believe in evolution.”

And Hippie if you are so tough, why don’t you post your address, so my husband can kick your @$$! ….. freaking crackhead.

You want my address so your husband can whip my address. ROFLMFAO You’re a fucking comedian, Teach. And you talk about the social skills my children might have? Is that what you teach….you don’t like what people say so you have your husband “kick their ass”. You are a funny motherfucker.

You wanna come out to my mother fucking farm & have a discussion about home school? We can talk all fucking day. Ridiculous.

Have your husband kick my ass, that is a new one. Oh fuck I am skeeeerd!

You lady have more problems than I previously thought.

A big bully? A fucking bully. You came in here a bullied your thoughts about home schooled children, what a teacher you are. Who is bullying who bitch, I don’t remember threatening to kick your ass….or having my “husband” do it. Of course I do not need my hubbie to fight my fucking battles either. Whimp ass.

wow. you know i promised myself i would not enter the fray - and if i did i would try to stick to the case that is being discussed.

but really. that statement crossed the line from angry words to “this is what i want to do with you” wishful thinking to something sort of threatening.

it makes me uncomfortable to hear this from a fellow poster, from a fellow citizen, from a teacher, and from someone who claims to follow the teachings of jesus.

it crossed the line with me. and though it will probably be a hollow threat, a posturing, i hope the moderators can verify the IP address just in case further threats follow.

Hold up Snuggle! I am very passionate about my Saviour! Just because I don’t believe the Bible teaches that women must wear dresses and kids must be homeschooled doesn’t mean that I am not a “Sold Out Christian”. I attend church 3x a week and do my very best to put Christ first in my life. It seems that we are in the same circle so you should understand what I am trying to say more than the rest.

We must set our hearts on those things above. And His standards. We don’t set them.

I could not agree more. His standards….meaning God’s standards. Not standards that mankind dream up or misinterpret. Let me address one more little slur:

Right there Kimberly. Right there what you typed makes me want to puke. You sit here yapping about going to church and god’s way. You are a fucking hypocrite.

Having your husband kick my ass is god’s way? Darling that is why I cannot stand Christianity, folks like you. Hypocritical motherfuckers.

Are you gonna swing by a “credited college” and pick up the letters A and S on your way?

If you’re gonna physically threaten one of our members, at least have the decency to say it. I mean, sending your man to beat up on little Hippie is kinda overkill. Wouldn’t you rather just have a gun raffle and arm the body of Christ that way?

You’re sitting there feeling all smug and self-righteous, but it never occurs to you that you just showed Hippie exactly what was in your heart, and that’s hate and violence masked under Jesus’ name.

I’ll take all Hippies “eff words”, because she’d never threaten to have her husband come find you and kick your ass - she’d either do it herself, or not at all. More likely she’d make you a cup of tea, debate you till the sun went down and hug you on your way out the door, but you can’t see through the haze of your Pharisee-style self-righteous indignation to get to that, can you?

    Holy Crap.

I am still reeling over the fact that there is a teacher out there that doesn’t believe in evolution.

What freaking grade do you teach and what subject? I sure hope it isn’t science.

I was really hoping someone would have an update. They are fighting over at the FF site over theology and attacking someone over speaking out against the church. This. Does anyone know anything about court dates or if anything more has been said, anything on the family?

It’s sad ain’t it? People can’t allow others their own ideas. Thats just small minded in my opinion.

How funny that she threatens Hippie with her husband — where is her husband in all this? Does he know she’s posting? Does he know she’s deploying him as a weapon? Does he have a clue that his role as head of the household is to beat up strangers?

How embarrassing if he refuses and she has to “submit” to his decision. But that’s God’s role for her! Ain’t it wonderful?

    That ain’t no shit.

And thanks my demon brothers & sisters for your support. Love you guys.

And Imp you so know me, fist fights are the last resort, I usually save those for blockheaded twatwaffles who refuse to talk things out. But yeah, I’d talk her blue in the face over this debate. Yelling and cussing included. ;)

According to our own President Bush, “the jury’s still out” on evolution. Maybe a jury of two?

hahahahahaha - are you shittin’ me? I’m late catching up but damn.

Kim - just for the record you are a teacher, right? What school district? I may have friends who live there and will need to ensure their kids NEVER have you for a teacher.

You just threatened to have your husband come beat up a woman. Do you get that? I have to ask where is your backbone? Was it replaced by a giant streak of yellow, painted with a 6″ brush - cause anyone like you must have a HUGE YELLOW STREAK in them? And, yes that means you are a chickenshit, juvenile, coward - just in case, with your much higher education, you didn’t know what that meant.

Why don’t you post your address so that we know where the head of the tards live? And, one last thing, learn the hell how to spell - judgmental and accredited - damn those words are pretty basic. Where do you teach again? Hell, I bet your not even a Sunday school teacher, much less a real teacher. I have no master’s degree and at least, I can spell those two words.

Now that I have addressed your ignorance, that I had previously been overlooking, your 15 minutes are up!

See, guys? THIS is the problem with unions. We’re not exactly recruiting and retaining superstars to begin with, necessarily, and the unions ensure that idgit teachers keep their jobs. Kimberly would have to smack a kid to get dealt with as she deserves.

About homeschooling: On average, the parents of homeschooled children are significantly more educated than the parents of publicly-schooled children, but the parents of private-schooled children tend to be more educated than both. Scholastically, homeschooled children are on par with or score better than publically-schooled counterparts.

Links - They do a body good. If goddamn teachers can’t be expected to show their work, how the hell are they gonna tell anyone else? Sheesh.

About evolution: Not trying to step on any beliefs, here, but don’t let the term “theory” confuse you. “Theory”, in scientific terms, essentially means “fact with some details that still need to be established”. The fact is that evolution exists; it is observable. The details that still need to be established pertain to the mechanisms of evolution, like natural selection. “When someone claims that they don’t believe in evolution they cannot be referring to an acceptable scientific definition of evolution because that would be denying something which is easy to demonstrate. It would be like saying that they don’t believe in gravity!”

I’ve been avoiding the debate regarding home-schooling vs. public. But, I just want to jump in with something here -

intelligence or IQ or test scores? These things are of little importance to me. I understand that education is good, sure.

But, when compared to raising decent, kind-hearted children with some common sense and a good moral compass, it’s small.

I’d rather you be educated about how to live and love your fellow man.

Couty failed that test miserably. I think his education likely has little to do with it.
