SAN DIEGO – Pictured above is Christina Noel Howell, age 21. I know! She looks a bit rough for 21. She’s also a pretty tall drink of water (5’9â€) but a bit on the light side, coming in at under 120 pounds. I’d say she’s not spending her time gorging on Mexican food and bon bons, and considering the dark smudges under her eyes, I’m guessing you won’t find her days filled with healthful eating choices and a careful workout regimen either.
I’m not hating, ya’ll, cuz those don’t sound like my days either. Maybe she keeps busy in other ways—you know, there’s always so much to do. Run a load in the dishwasher, toss some clothes in the washing machine, give the toilet a good scrubbing, track down the EasyEasy reviews-Off to get the gunk out of the bottom of the oven from that casserole last week. I know, nothing sexy, but you have to take care of these things when you’re a mom. You gotta be careful, though—you know how kids are, they’ll put just about any damn thing in their mouths. Body parts, toys, clothing, the dog’s tail, a dead bug, an earthworm, a clod of dirt. You don’t want them getting their hands on the Lysol Power Toilet Bowl Cleaner or, heavens forbid, the Drano.
However, it looked like Christina’s 22-month-old did something just like that. On May 25, the child was rushed by ambulance to Rady Children’s Hospital with chemical burns to the face and the mouth. DoctorsDoctors reviews determined that the child had ingested a caustic chemical and treated and released the child to go home. Whew, thank goodness, right?
Truth is, ingestion of a caustic chemical, be it bleach, washing powder, dishwashing detergent, etc., by a kid isn’t that uncommon. And fortunately, said ingestion rarely results in the child’s death or even the need for hospitalization. Still, as Dr. Eric Kardon instructs caregivers, “Although most childhood ingestions are accidental, be sure to consider child abuse in these instances.â€
Let’s be clear—I don’t have a beef with the doctors and nurses at Rady Children’s Hospital. There’s nothing in the currently available information suggesting the hospital staff should’ve suspected something besides an accidental ingestion. That is, until three days after the child was released.
What happened was that the child was airlifted back to the hospital, this time with severe chemical burns to the mouth and esophagus. Can you see how it might have happened? In the first incident, the chemical enters the child’s mouth, who immediately spits it out, hence burns to mouth and face. In the second, the child doesn’t—or can’t—spit it out and swallows it.
Obviously, I’m not the only one who had a hard time believing a child less than two years old would take a swig (or mouthful) of some caustic chemical then do it again three days later (setting aside the notion that someone should be keeping such chemicals out of reach of children). Investigators interviewed Christina and several witnesses, and on Thursday, Christina was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of felony child abuse, and one count of poisoning.
Since the authorities aren’t releasing much information right now, there’s a great big pile of unanswered questions. First and foremost, of course, is how is the baby doing? Still in the hospital or released, and if so, into whose care? Second, why, Christina? Was the baby preventing you from doing what you really wanted to do, like, sleep it off, or attract a new penis? Did the voices in your head tell you to do it, or did the drugs make you confuse your child with the toilet?
Internet scouring doesn’t turn up much on this Mom of the Year. San Diego County court records show she was the plaintiff in a domestic violence case at age 16, and on June 11, DV charges were filed against her. Not clear on that case’s relation to this one, if any. She’s due in court Monday, and maybe we’ll find out more then.

I really am looking forward to getting more details on this. In many chemical ingestion instances, the substance in question doesn’t cause pain when ingested. I’m really hoping that was the case here.

She must really think folks are stupid if she thought bringing the kid in again wouldn’t raise major flags. Even IF the first was accidental, any real parent would have rid the place of anything remotely dangerous… so it wouldn’t happen again. (Checked and double checked)

well check this out, the 22 month is fine with the concidering issue of damages that wont be fixed over night, and he is in foster care, her the side ass comments are not at all funny. and how do i know all this is be cause im the father and if you are going to ask where i was, i was working when i got the calls of my childs condition. this shit sucks and all the bs behind it is adding and is overwelming and everyones comments and smart ass remarks are bs and to show my point she is now my ex so just take a break on all the comments and let justice handle it

While this is probably a stressful time for you, Liltaz92064, the “smart ass comments” are directed toward your ex and rightfully so. We certainly hope that your child makes a full recovery, but the comments here won’t stop simply because you want them to. liltaz, when you say “damages,” do you mean physical damages? I think everyone here would agree that it’s most important to us that he be okay. And if you’re her ex and she has custody, why would we be asking where you were? I wasn’t kidding, there isn’t a lot of information out there about what happened, so naturally, we “talk out” what might have happened, and I imagine this is a really shitty time for you right now.

I guess my question is, why on earth would the authorities charge her with attempted murder if your son accidentally ingested Tilex and Liquid Plumber?
And I’m sorry, but we love children here, and they don’t have to be our children. So when we hear about a 22-month-old getting hospitalized for drinking/eating something that caused burns to his mouth and esophagus, we’re going to be wondering how he is and hoping for the best.

liltaz, I want you to understand that no one here wants to bust your chops. As far as we know–and I’d like to believe–you’re one of the best dads in the world. We’ve heard about that condition before (actually, one of our forum members wondered if that might be what was going on). That’s so scary. You always want to believe that children are safest with their mother.

Still kinda strange that if this woman was suffering from that mental illness, that she would resort to a method that could quickly lead to death, PLUS be easily figured out. Who knows what goes through thee people’s head, though.

We here at DD have hard time understanding why people do the things they do especially to innocent children – their own children ~ it Sucks !!! We don’t buy most of the excuses. The devil told me too and the drug issues… seems like plain selfishness and jealousy is a great deal of the problem.

I would like to know why he is defending her… it sounds like he is defending someone who tried to kill his kid! What’s the harm in us discussing the world and it’s sickness… people like this need to learn a lesson. Also, the kid is 22 mos huh? Ok so she just woke up one morning with this “syndrome” and said ” I think I am going to poision my kid today.” Judging from the article posted…these sick puppies work for a long time to give the illusion of an ill child…this was too sudden. Any thoughts?

I hope your son is okay! Has your ex been showing signs of depression? Postpartum? I’m truly sorry you have to go through this. breaking up with her and never allowing her contact with your son is in your sons as well as your best interest.
Please don’t be so quick to think people here only bad mouth abusers (they do shame deserving low lifes) but they also would help you through this the best they could. Sometimes it helps to discuss things like this with people you don’t know. People that follow such cases and can be helpful.

Normally I don’t get involved in this crap, but this case bothers me, this is my backyard…has anyone looked at liltaz’s myspace page? The pics of the car that his woman crashed!!! Look at the photos on her profile–it seems their youngest was “in and out” of the hospital quite a bit right after he was born. You have to wonder if he actually was ill or was “getting help” from Mom.

I have to ask, where the hell was the dad in all this? Did he not have a clue? How come CPS never got involved? Poor little boys… Little kids that sick all the time should have raised some eyebrows…shame on all of them. Anyone know how to drudge up if CPS gave a damn? Funny how we all know nothing about these guys, but from one article and a bit of digging…a bunch of strangers came to the same conclusion, mom is disturbed in the worst possible way.

Wow, look at this site.. this is nice..I like the fact that there is so much information. I have been looking at this for a while now and it’s pretty invasive, don’t you think? Look, lets get level here… for whatever reason Chris wanted to see how far the rabbit hole went, how much “media” attention was involved, and it drew him to here… mainly because this has the most derogatory comments against her ( I can only assume) and I think he felt insulted. I don’t know for sure..I can’t get that out of him. But I do know this, He is in a world of pain and seeing his pain broadcast is difficult at best. And Darco is it?? I saw the accident based on your post, and I questioned him, but that was an actual accident… didn’t you see the blurb about the breaks? And furthermore…duh! CPS did get involved…the kid’s in foster care…
See, that’s the thing…make assumptions before you know the facts…yes she deserved to be ridiculed…but consider the costs… He had no idea what he was going to see, and what he did..hurt him. Worst dreams have come true and even I have finally taken offence to these comments. He loved this woman…, she betrayed him…give him some peace. The kid(s) are doing fine for now, safe. I know some of you don’t believe in the conventional version of god…so prayer is out… but hope is not lost, can we just send some hope his way??? and let’s leave well enough alone for right now, please?

Wait, what? You like the fact that there’s so much information here…but now you’re complaining that there’s too much information here?
Frankly, if the woman he loved betrayed him by poisoning his kid, anything we could possibly do or say pales in comparison to that. I honestly don’t see that anything said or written by strangers–strangers who are compassionate toward his child, nonetheless–could possibly make a dent, or even register, in comparison. When my loved one was in intensive care, the last thing I gave a flip about was anything that a stranger had to say, period.

-Christina pled not guilty today to the child abuse and poisoning charges. Not sure what happened to the attempted murder charges.
-Prosecutors say she poisoned her son in the more recent instance by putting apple juice and Drano is his sippy cup.
-The little boy will need long-term medical care.
-Her bail is set for $300,000; she has a preliminary hearing scheduled July 8. If convicted, she could spend 11+ years in prison.

In a “world of pain”? No shit, Dick Tracy. The woman he loves tried to kill his son; it wasn’t one of us. Are you getting the impression we’re unsympathetic to him? If so, you can’t read.
We’re not “broadcasting” his pain. He visited here. I hope having the chance to come here and vent some made him feel at least a tiny bit better. And in case Morbid’s post didn’t make it clear to you, we are pulling for him and his children. Her? Not so much.

Wonder’s comment had me do some research.. so someone posted the DV file he had against her… anyone look up Christopher Daly’s files in Sd Superior Court?. He has 2 previous criminal charges against him, and a previous DV charge. Could it be that’s why he hasn’t got his kids back yet?

I don’t think the dad sat by and watched this happen – especially give his painful reaction to all this. It seems that if he even suspected she was doing this that he would have stopped it even if it meant another DV charge. One look at the comment he left on her MySpace tells you what he thinks of this.
His past criminal history has little to do with it. If they withheld biological kids of everyone who had a history, there would be a hell of a lot more kids in the foster system.
The dad may or may not be capable of providing a loving and stable home for his boys. CPS will look at that. They have returned kids to homes with far greater histories (not that I agree) but the circumstances of his record may have little to do with his ability to parent.
His love for his kids is obvious. His pain is obvious. He just has to realize that we are not talking about the woman he thought he married. We are talking about the bitch that committed this horrid act.
Like everyone else, I wish only the best for his children and him. For Christina, I wish a daily living hell.
