I don’t think it is picking on old people to face the facts that most of them have too many health problems to be able to operate a vehicle.

That makes about as much sense as saying everyone under 25 should not be allowed to drive because the part of the brain that does reason and judgment has not developed fully… which may be true but doesn’t effect their ability to drive… usually.

If the elderly person can still drive without putting themselves or others in harm’s way I have no problem with it. If they can’t drive well because of failing health then they shouldn’t be on the road. True, my great grandfather was late 80’s when I was born – 88 I think, I’ll have to check. I can remember going to town with him in a 1953 Dodge when I was 6 or 7, so he was 94 or 95. He drove just fine. Slow but fine. I also witnessed him catch a rooster in daylight, instead of on the roost. That was pretty amazing. Hell, I’d have a hard time doing that myself. He lived to be 106. He stopped driving around 98 or 99.

Yes, indeedy. My father is 89 years old and drives. In just the last year or two, he has given up driving long distances (NJ to Boston was a regular route), and has given up most night driving because he can tell his night vision has deteriorated. But that’s very recent, and he was wise enough to notice that he felt tired on long drives and strained to see well at night. Daytime, he’ll still drive anywhere, anytime. And he’s still a pretty damned good driver, too.

Older drivers, because of their failing faculties, should be subject to more frequent driving tests. However, a person is not automatically unable to drive simply because they are X years old.

Thanks. I can appreciate that. I was being sarcastic. I am not here to rant about religion myself. I myself have NO misgivings about God. I do not believe. Period. End of story. I have studied many different religions, history, and was brought up Southern Bible Belt Baptist. Ugh! Fire and damnation. This post mentioned God and thus my remarks.

For all of those who aren’t sure about God’s existence I encourge you to earnestly seek him through prayer and reading the Bible because that is the only way I have been able to feel his existence.

I am for all people rights to believe and worship how they feel as long as it doesn’t impede my personal rights. That said. Exactly which bible and which GOD should I choose? Why does every religion believe there’s is the only way to GOD?

While I can’t completely understand God’s plan I can only tell you my opinion and thoughts. These people were worshipping Him so they love him and Heaven in a far greater place than earth so it’s assumed that these people are going to Heaven where there is nothing but peace and happiness. Going to Heaven where these heart breaking things don’t happen is the greatest gift He can give those who love Him to show His love and kindness to them.

I’m sure some people will argue that if what I said is true why doesn’t God take all of those who love Him on to Heaven. My only answer to that is there are still people out there that may be influenced by those that love him and they may be able to bring another to know God.

It’s possible that this accident will prevent another that would have been worse. It may be that this lady really doesn’t need to be driving or this could have been her daughter’s first seizure in a long time or ever and this might prevent her from driving now. I don’t know the plan God has in store for any of these people so I’m just giving you an answer that is mine.
