Panama City Beach, FL - Stephanie Sheridan, 40, does not look like a happy daycare owner. Her Myspace doesn’t sound too happy either. Although it’s set to private, the headline reads “karma is a bitch for the lying snitch.” Well, sheez, Stephanie, if you wouldn’t leave your stash where the little ones could get to it, there’d be no need for snitching, would there?
Sheridan had a bad day on Wednesday. Someone hotlined her to the Department of Children and Family Services, and they called the cops and went out to the Sheridan Family Day Care located in Sheridan’s home. She is the sole owner and proprietor of same, and had six children in her care plus her own child when officers showed up with caseworkers.
On looking through the house, investigators found Sheridan’s small son and another child in a bedroom. The same bedroom where Sheridan had her weed lying out where the kids could get to it. Oopsie! They also found some hydrocodone for which Sheridan didn’t have a prescription and some drug paraphernalia - probably a pipe or a bong, something like that.
“(The marijuana) if ingested by the 3 year old child could cause serious harm to the child,” investigators reported in a complaint affidavit. The parents of the six daycare kids were contacted to come get their children, and Sheridan’s own child was turned over to his father. The daycare was closed, Sheridan was arrested, and DCF is continuing its investigation.
Stephanie Sheridan is charged with possession of hydrocodone, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child neglect. She made bail at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and was logged on to her Myspace this morning. So Stephanie, if you’re reading, please feel free to come tell us about karma and what a bitch it is.

Eating marijuana? WTF? or maybe the little tykes were going to smoke up the bong? Come the fuck on. The hydrocodone yeah, now that would have made me worry. This lady doesn’t seem to have much common sense, but holy fucking shit, compared to other shit that I read on here, whatever.
A note to Headies out there….if you are going to have a Daycare in your home, put that shit in the fucking safe. Don’t have drugs were children can get a hold of them. Numbfuckingnuts. People like you give us law-abiding drug users a bad fucking name. Just saying.

As for the other comments that are negative and ignorant as well: you shouldn’t believe ANYTHING you read on the internet. You will see in time, all of those so called DCF “findings” are bullshit and Stephanie Sheridan is an upstanding citizen who got stabbed in the back and framed by a worthless human that is a pitiful waste of life in this universe. Just for the record, her myspace photo isn’t photo shopped at all and is very recent. When someone tries to end your career, take your children from you and destroy your life, I would love to see your mugshot and compare. I hope you all get your bitching karma for being so nasty and hateful and may your God have the same harsh judgment on you.

Jun 15, 2008 at 11:58 am -First let me say that there entirely too many people in this world that will talk about “anything” without the advantage of being informed. As someone that was present at the house of Stephanie Sheridan when the search and subsequent arrest happened I can assure that no-one posting so far here has a clue as to what happened. So I am here to give you all a bit of that ever elusive information that you could have discovered with a couple clicks.
One: Her children and those in her care were never in any danger. Not a single child was in possesion of these drugs nor was there any chance that they could get them. The one child that was in the room was strapped into his carseat for his nap due to his autism and therefore could NOT have reached the drugs. The only drug in reach of any child was a prescription for her oldeest child that is for his ADHD.
Two: The paper says that her “child”, singular, went to his father. Well she has two children and the Department of childrens services representative, that was at the house to investigate, left her roomate with temporary custody after passing a background check and drug screen.
Three: She was not shut down because any of the children had drugs. She was shut down because she had the drugs in her bathroom, in container, hidden from everyone. Her roomate was even surprised to discover that Ms. Sheridan tested positive for THC. He stated that to his knowledge she was not a drug user at all. And remember that he tested negative for all drugs right then. (The DCS brought their portable tests to the house.)
Four: The representative from DCS, one Mrs. Ruth Peavy, also appeared in court to standin defense of Ms. Sheridan at her first appearance. She asked the judge and state to allow the children to be with their mother. The romoval of children is standard procedure in cases similar to this. Also its should be understood that it is practically unheard for the Department of Children Services to testify on the behalf of a defendant the day after they are arrested for having drugs around children. This alone should make one consider that maybe all is not what the newspaper ( which gets their info from the arresting officer) and the websites portray it to be.
In closing I would recommend that anyone that has a thought that they feel obligated to post do a little research and get the facts before slandering someone. Everything that I have posted here is Public Information and can be confirmed by simply visiting you local Clerks office.

Jun 15, 2008 at 12:12 pm -Note to self: This daycare should be sued because babies/toddlers/infants should NOT be put in their car seats as a place for them to sleep; mental disabilities or not. And hell, if the parents knew about this and they allowed it, they should also be charged with endangerment for allowing this woman to do this to their child. Also, having ANY medication in the reach of ANY child is a big no-no. I guess she missed that part of the parenting and child care classes that also says to lock up cleaning supplies or put them out of the reach of small children.
And for the record: Drugs are bad. Weed is Bad. It is illegal and shouldn’t be used by adults - let alone adults in charge of the welfare of small children. Being “set up” and being “ratted out” or however you want to claim it probably did a world of good to be honest. It sounds like she shouldn’t have a problem with parents paying anymore; because they’d be fucking stupid to bring their children back to that home (unless of course they are part of the cover-up weed “partay!” and need their fixes too.)
Hydrocodone… Meh I personally can’t say much, I live on the stuff - literally. I work, drive, breastfeed and go about my “normal day” all while high as fuck most days. But the nice difference here is that MY drugs are MINE is prescribed (and monitored) by my doctor for ME not someone else.
Hippie, they probably didn’t want to pay because they found out what Contact Buzzing is all about when they picked their children up from this woman’s care.
ignorantpeoplesuck: LOL! LOL! God you made me smile today, thank you for that. It just goes to show that with enough Weed and a good supplier anyone can vouch for someone else.

Frankly, the only reasons I bothered with it were that I was sick to death of babykillers, and I was pretty sure I’d have Stephanie and/or her friends here within 24 hours. And hey - i was right! Also, she looks really mean in her Myspace pic. I don’t know that I’d leave my kids with somebody who glares like that, but that’s just me.

Jun 15, 2008 at 12:26 pm -1.) Children, no matter their disabilities should not be strapped in carseats for “nap time”. That is wrong and neglectful (legal or not which it should most definately not be), especially to use the child’s Autism as an excuse for laziness and inappropriate childcare. If the parents knew this was happening, they need to be looked into as well; and she should never get her license back.
2.) Drugs are bad. Your brain on drugs is that egg in a pan. Weed is bad. It is Illegal (hidden or out in the open). Get a clue and stop making excuses for fuck ups.
3.) Prescription and drugs should not be in the reach of small children, period. And she simply should not have had any illegal drugs in her home at all. Apparently this day care missed that important part of baby/child proofing where it states that medications of any kind and household cleaners should be locked up and not in the reach of small children who may ingest them. There is no “oops” here.
4.) Disgruntled parents hmmm, Hippie I bet those were the parents that found out what a fucking loser this bitch was and decided that not paying and taking their children away from her was in their best interest. *Gasp* I said it, some parents actually still keep their children away from drugs!
The CPS workers showed up in court too? Damn, how much did they get from her? A Dime Bag? Is that all their testimony is worth these days?
LOL! God damn you amuse me! Again I guess it just goes to show you that when you share your drugs with your friends, they will say just about anything in your defense.
As far as the Hydrocodone… Meh, I have all kinds of that here; I live on that stuff. I work, drive, breastfeed; all while high-as-a-fucking-kite because of that shit. I have so much of that drug in my houseI could get sooo busted for possession with intent to distribute right now. But guess what? Mine is at least not where my little ones can get it and guess what else! Mine is prescribed for Me myself and I. That’s right! My doctors WANT me to be high as a fucking kite; or I am in so much pain it isn’t funny. Let me know if she needs more, I am sure I can supply some by mail for a nominal cost (totally joking).

Jun 15, 2008 at 1:06 pm -There is no defense for having drugs in your home when children are present. You are correct. Such was not my intention when I began this post. Mine was simply to provide more accurate information than was apparently available this website when this story posted.
As to your comment, “And for heaven’s sake, learn the definition of “slander” before you toss it around like a kid who failed the paralegal exam.”, the definition is;
n. oral defamation, in which someone tells one or more persons an untruth about another, which untruth will harm the reputation of the person defamed.
That is what your website promotes by way of comments posted here. With today’s verdicts going the way of the abused in online disputes and new laws in congress to make the penalties for such acts more severe it might be prudent to screen any such comments that your website is willing to allow.

Someone shows up here to “defend” Stephanie but ADMITS (a) there were drugs in the house OUT OF WHICH A DAYCARE IS OPERATED and (b) Stephanie WHO RUNS THE DAYCARE uses drugs. Somehow stating these facts is supposed to make us see the light as to what a fine, upstanding citizen Stephanie is. Really, she’s stating our case better than her own. If we leave her alone and let her continue, she might wind up getting Stephanie life in prison or something.
If I’m ever arrested and one of you guys thinks you might defend me in this manner, please don’t.

Jun 15, 2008 at 7:48 pm -Yeah I make sure I keep mine out of reach in the kitchen cabinets, safe, baseboards, attic, shed out back, barn….etc.
Seriously though. Let me ask….Do some of you folks think because this woman smokes marijuana, that she is unfit to care for children? If so…holyfuckingshit. I get so weirded out on the marijuana because I look at it as medication. Not some “good time” fucking drug. Not everyone whom partakes in “drugs” is irresponsible.
If this woman has been shown to have been abusive or neglectful, right on, her fucking ass should be busted. Ridiculed for having some fucking weed, nah I don’t think so. btw how much weed did she have….not that it really matters.
I will agree with this. If someone is going to partake in the herb, do not have children coming and going in your home. Especially where the shit is still not legalized. There is bound to be trouble.
One more note. As far as drugs and kids. Hey I give my kids drugs. Motrin, Tylenol, Benadryl, Tums….etc. Nope I think I’ll keep some drugs handy for the children. Cause *gasp* some of us parents think some drugs are good to use.

Jun 15, 2008 at 8:00 pm -There is a difference Hippie, YOU give your kids the drugs - not leaving them out in random places for them to get to.
And the weed bit, the big thing is that she has kids in an out of the house. I am fine and dandy with a little weed now and again for the random partake. However when responsibility comes into play (especially with other peoples kids), that is where I do draw the line.

Jun 15, 2008 at 8:51 pm -I’m with IO on this one, HP. The issue isn’t recreational (or medicinal, or whatever) use of marijuana. Currently it’s use is generally illegal. Would I want to trust the care of my children to someone who is found to have illegal marijuana, hydrocodone, and drug paraphernalia in her home? Doesn’t sound like something that would be allowed in the “Standards for Daycare Operation.”

Jun 15, 2008 at 9:46 pm -Yes, ladies I see your points. You ask Lizard…”Would I want to trust the care of my children to someone who is found to have illegal marijuana, hydrocodone, and drug paraphernalia in her home?”
Marijuana should be legalized. It is not my fault government has a problem with this plant. If my babysitter smoked herb, whatever. Same as if she took medication for other ailments. Hydrocodone in her home? As long as she is not all fucked up caring for my children, then what this woman took for pain, on her own time, is not my business. If it were a prescription med, none of this would be in discussion. I’m just one of those folks who think that responsible drug usage in your own home, as long as it is not endangering someone else, should be no one’s business but your own.
I do agree if she wanted to run a daycare she shouldn’t have the shit in her house, not everyone feels the same way as I do about drugs, and she should have respected her clients and their children.

WTF? Why was any child strapped into a carseat for a nap? And don’t try to educate me about having to restrain children with autism. Believe me, I know plenty about autism. NO child needs to be restrained like that, except in a car. Lazy woman. I’d bet she was probably giving the children benadryl, too. She couldn’t be bothered to actually care for them. Irrespective of the drugs, she sucks at providing care for children and should be shut down.

I’m a couple days late, but, apparently, KA doesn’t know the law.
When dealing with libel, the offending statement must be stated as fact (i.e. no “allegedly” or “in my opinion”), must be obviously capable of doing harm (be it financial or otherwise) and must be obviously untrue.
Statements made by news sources, sheriffs’ offices and other reporting organizations that at paraphrased and published on this site are not “obviously untrue”, even if you come in here and claim to know otherwise.

Jun 18, 2008 at 9:52 am -Stephanie, Stephanie, Stephanie: no reasonable person thinks you should lose your job and get in trouble for toking on your own time. Hell, in some states it’s even legal. And as for pot being a danger to young children as far as ingesting it goes, I’d tend to be more worried about common household products such as bleach–or, even, shampoo, something that is within reach of a great many children. But the fact is, you were in what grown-ups call a FIDUCIARY POSITION. Since you seem to love the dictionary so much, you can look up that big word there starting with F and find out what it means. I’m sure you know by now that in the grown-up world, if you don’t do your job correctly and you fail to meet the needs of your clients, you freaking get fired. And, maybe, you even get in trouble. So stop bitching about snitches, karma, and the people who have commented on this site about your lack of foresight when it came to doing your job. Instead, think about moving to a state where you can smoke legally. But if you want to run a daycare–ANYWHERE–you need to put away any shit that can harm kids or is OTHERWISE INAPPROPRIATE sitting out in a daycare facility. A bag of weed has no place sitting out. Fucking DUH. Now, after all the kiddies are gone, if you wanna SMOKE POT, DRINK BLEACH, or GIVE YOURSELF SHAMPOO ENEMAS SO YOU CAN BLOW BUBBLES OUT YOUR ASSHOLE, why, then, you go right ahead.
