Lexington, NC - Gentlemen and rapists, let this be a lesson to you. If you break into a house on a Tuesday afternoon and try to strangle a woman, her kids might beat you up with a broom and a kitchen knife. Don’t believe me? You can ask William Junior Oxendine, 35, when he gets out of jail.
That’s pretty much how it went down, too. Tuesday afternoon just before 1:00, Oxendine cut a window screen to enter a neighbor’s home. I don’t know why he didn’t think her daughters would be home, or why he decided to break in at noon-thirty, but obviously we’re not dealing with Einstein here. So Oxendine slices the screen, goes in, and starts to choke the female homeowner unconscious.
The victim’s two teenage daughters were in the next room and heard the struggle. One girl grabbed a broom, the other one grabbed a knife. They defended their mother with extreme prejudice, getting themselves injured in the process. But it worked, and Oxendine ran away after telling the girls not to call the police.
Uh, riiiight. My crazy neighbor comes over, breaks in, and tries to strangle my family, I am totally calling the cops. Which the girls and their mother did. Evidence recovered at the scene led the police to Oxendine, and there was apparently some additional evidence in his home. Oh, and he was identified. By the girls who kicked his ass.
So William Junior Oxendine is now hanging out in the Davidson County Jail, where he is being held on a $100,000 bond. He is charged with felony breaking and entering, felony assault by strangulation, three counts of second-degree kidnapping and two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female. And if that doesn’t teach him, another round with his victims and their awesome defense skills just might.

I remember hearing a story similar to this out of Detroit 20+ years ago. A thirteen-year-old was watching her younger siblings when a man broke in and started raping her. Her seven-year-old brother beat on the man with a baseball bat, but he didn’t flee until the two-year-old sister started hitting him with a knife. I thought that was so great. This is, too.

According to a probable-cause affidavit submitted with a request to search Oxendine’s person, investigators allege a white male entered the home and was confronted by the woman, whom the suspect accosted. At that point, one of the two juveniles “secured a knife and confronted the white male,” according to a search warrant. That confrontation resulted in a struggle, during which the suspect suffered cuts on his left upper arm.

Her mother was in no condition to fit him whatsoever. She had been sickly for the past few months.
I find it terribly creepy how I was just over there a few days before it happened.

Chelsea, the younger sis, was the one with the knife who managed to cut his arm and thumb.
Also, from what I know, the older sis, Candi has a busted lip.

no her mom isn’t seriously ill but she is a diabetic and well, ever since I met her, she has been very weak. Personally, I think it is due to the all the medicines she is on.
Things would have been a lot different if Candi’s boyfriend (another one of my besties) or her stepdad was there.
when I saw the pic I was surprised that they could hold him off. All three of them are like tooth picks but this isn’t the first time that they were harrassed by someone. Bad street to live on.

It might be a bad street to live on, but it sounds like they’ve acclimated. Adversity builds character, and if they can handle an armed intruder, college apps will be a cakewalk. “What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger,” is a generally true statement. These girls surviving this and getting the perp landed in the pokie is a benefit to all of us.
