Dallas, TX - Last Friday morning, Joland Newberg left Fayetteville, Arkansas with her twelve year old son. They were flying from Fayetteville to San Jose, California, with a layover at DFW - Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. But once the pair arrived in Dallas, Newberg’s son went to the restroom - and came out to find his mother was gone.
And Joland Newberg, also known as Jolanda Newberg or Jolanda Munoz, stayed gone for nearly 24 hours. Newberg’s luggage arrived in San Jose on schedule Friday, but Newberg didn’t.  Investigators reviewed videotape and contacted family members. Press releases were issued, and news coverage of the missing woman at DFW started within hours.
But pretty quickly it appeared to airport officials that Joland Newberg had left the airport on her own. By Friday afternoon, DFW was telling the press that Newberg, who lives in South Lake Tahoe, California, appeared to be in a “questionable emotional state” and may have left the airport’s Rental Car Center in a taxi. Um, what? Sounds to me like she got pissed off at her kid and just left him there, in a large airport all alone.
The boy was placed in Child Protective Services custody pending notification of his other relatives. By Saturday morning, he had been scheduled to fly home to California to meet other family. Which turned out to be a good thing, because Joland Newberg turned up in the Rental Car Center Saturday morning. She had no explanation of where she’d been or why she left her son.  Newberg was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital for a psych evaluation, but was then arrested and taken to the Dallas County Jail.
Joland Newberg remains in the Dallas County Jail today on $2500 bond. She has been charged with endangerment by abandoning a child without the intent to return.  If this hateful bitch doesn’t want her kid, I’ll take him. Poor kid must have been scared to death.

Jun 9, 2008 at 8:50 pm -Airport officials say Newberg returned to the rental car facility early Saturday morning. Employees recognized her and called police. Airport police questioned Newberg and referred her to Parkland Hospital for a mental evaluation. Parkland released Newberg and she is now in jail. Her bond was set at $2500.
Newberg told CBS 11 News that she is not sure where she went or what she did after she left the airport. She said she told her son to go to San Jose and call family members there.
“If they allowed him to do what I told him to do, he would have been fine, physically,” Newberg said. “I told him, the flight to San Jose and when you get there, call Tina and she will pick you up.” Newberg said Tina was her neice.

Wonder if she knows that they can do brain scans of a schizophrenic’s brain that will definitively show whether or not they have it? Course I don’t know if it is legally accepted yet. She definitely sounds crazy to me

The way that she keeps making a run at saying a full thought, then becoming confused and backing up and starting over indicates to me that she’s got a lot of weird stuff going on in her mind as she speaks. It doesn’t read as fake to me.
My wonder is that she was able to get the child to the airport at all. I wonder why he didn’t get on the airplane by himself and escape her???!!! But kids love their parents no matter how their parents are. Or at least they do until they are teens, then sometimes they dislike their parents no matter how their parents are.
