Marquis Lee Was Desperate
Filed under: Assault, Child Abuse, Child Neglect, Domestic Violence

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A police officer was approached by a woman at around 1:30 am telling the officer that she had just been assaulted by her boyfriend. The officer noticed that the woman had discolorations on her face and neck. Her boyfriend, Marquis Lee, 26, then walked past carrying the couple’s 10-month-old daughter. When the officer attempted to make an arrest, Lee took off running…but not before tossing the infant at the police officer.
Lee was caught anyway, and when police went to the couple’s apartment, they found a 3-year-old who had been left alone. Lee is now in the Newport News City Jail charged with assault and battery, resisting arrest, child abuse, child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 10-month-old was not seriously injured.
Oh yeah, while gathering info for this story, I usually always like to check out the comments section for any insight or rumors. In this particular case, Richard Harris from Norfolk, VA left this comment over in the topix.net forums.
“So what is so suprising - he just doing the “it takes a village” East End approach to child care. Typical African American male approach to children. In fact there’s probably an annual competition for who can throw one the greatest distance.”
Racist? Sure. Funny? I thought so. The visual of that competition made me laugh.

You are indeed a twisted soul Morbid. That’s why you’re so perfect for writing this stuff.
LOL, Richard Harris has poor logic skills, alas. Act of “Throwing baby” and concept of “it takes a takes a village to raise a child” are not parallel. Unless he thinks the slogan is “it takes a village to throw a child.”
What I want to know is was it an underhand toss or an overhand one?
Because I would really be impressed with him if it was overhand. 10 month old babies can be heavy.
LOL
LOL
Its good to laugh, while knowing the child was not hurt badly. I hope they keep him away from the mom and the children, to ensure their safety.
My guess is that it was simply a two-handed forward toss. What would have made this a REALLY crazy story is if Marquis had turned to run, bent over, and ‘hiked’ the baby before running off.
Roflmao - you’re too much Morbid!!!
We all know kids grow up faster these days. Three years old is the new 27, so what’s wrong with leaving one alone? I’m surprised they didn’t leave the infant behind to crawl around and vacuum the carpet while they were gone.
I think maybe he meant “It takes a village idiot to toss a kid at a policeman as a get-away bid.”
I wonder how many babies this BabyDaddy has. By perp standards, he’s not bad looking — slightly low ears, rather squeezed head, slightly step-stair eyes. I’d say he’s cutting a swath among the BabyMommas.
1:30am; wife beating, leaving a toddler alone and tossing an infant. Yeah, sounds like he has talent, NOT! What a POS, loser!!
I told my sister about this story and she said in a regretful tone, “Yeah, that tends to happen a lot.” She lives in a major city. Maybe baby-toss getaways are on the rise? Police are taking “Rock A Bye Baby” classes? BabyMammas in shoot-outs loading their fellas’ guns and giving birth so there’s a baby to toss?
The amazing thing to me is that the officer actually caught the baby. Talk about a good catch!
