CHARLESTON, W.Va. - When a friend of Elizabeth Thornton, 21, came over to their apartment, they found Elizabeth’s 2-year-old son, Constatine Alexander Washburn, lying unresponsive on the floor. He was taken to Charleston Hospital where he was found to be suffering from severe brain trauma. The injuries were too severe and the doctors were unable to save Alex. Things may have turned out differently for Alex had his parents brought him to the hospital immediately after he suffered the injuries…which happened to be THREE FUCKING DAYS EARLIER!
Elizabeth is now in jail, charged with child neglect resulting in death. But her problems don’t end there. Her explanation of how Alex received these injuries, of how he fell and hit his head on a coffee table and then hit his chin on the toilet later that night, are not jiving with investigators. Alex had bruising under his neck and chin, as well as hemorrhaging on the brain.
Elizabeth has three other children, all have been removed from her and placed in CPS. Alex’s father, Christopher Washburn, has not been charged…yet. He was supposedly there when the injuries occurred, so I would figure he would suffer the same neglect charges if the cause of Alex’s injuries are true or not. I swear to God, It pains me to have to share the air with some of these people.
Take a look at this video report from WSAZ.com and watch as Elizabeth is absolutely overcome with grief over the death of her son, and garners the sympathy of anyone who watches it. You can bet more charges are forthcoming, especially when you hear Lieutenant Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department say, and I quote, “The probabilities of these injuries being accidental, is almost zero”

It just hurts my heart so much when I read these stories of parents killing thier children. I just can’t comprehend this. My husband and I tried for so many years to have a child and it just wasn’t in the stars for us. Then I read about these pieces of shit that have no idea what a gift from god these precious babies are.

21 years old and four kids tells you a lot right there. Just lying around having kids with no thought of what caring for them means. It makes me sick to see grandparents raising their grandkids because the generation inbetween is worthless.
Pure Speculation: She knew she had gone too far and was ignoring the situation. What to do when the kid died? Bury him in the backyard and pretend he never existed? Have another, hope it’s a boy and use it as a replacement? Who knows if this bitch was thinking at all.
Hope she ends up in the same situation in prison. But no, in prison they actually check on the prisoners to see if they’re okay. So no hope there.

Both Elizabeth and Christopher (Grimus) are heroin addicts/methadone and whatever else they could get there hands on. No, I didn’t see if for my own eyes however a very close friend of their’s told me the whole story about them way before this happened. I just can’t believe that she could first beat her child then leave her son there to die. I agree with everyone else that she is just a cold heartless bitch that deserves the same punishment she gave her son. Yes, 21 and four kids… how could this happen and to think, the taxpayers in WV were supporting her drug habit because we all know taking care of her children was the last thing on her mind.
I also believe that Christopher (Grimus) should face the same outcome as Elizabeth. He was there the entire time and never called the police or anyone. I guess it must have taken them 3 days to get rid of there drugs.

Aug 4, 2008 at 11:53 pm -(Sad to admit) I actually know Elizabeth, I went to school with her, I hung out with her a few times, I babysitted two of her older children when they were just 2yrs old, and 10 months old. I can’t believe what I see. Actually, in a way I can. Like the news reporter said, CPS had been involved before. They took 2 of the children away when she was pregnant with the 3rd child. I’m guessing poor little Alex wasn’t in the picture yet. I did not get the honor to meet little Alex, or her 3rd child. What I wanted to say was, when her children was takin away from her, and she was pregnant, she was out doing drugs, having sex, and being nothing but a ruthless, immature bitch!! I also know the so called *FRIEND* that called the police, and spoke to her personally about this case, and SHE *said* the baby was fine, he was sitting on the floor eating cereal, then all of a sudden his eyes started rolling in the back of his head. I was thinking maybe that could be true, maybe there wasnt any signs of trauma, and then I remembered, the dad (Grimus) as what he is known as, did nothing but drugs, and I (heard) he had beaten Elizabeth before. Maybe HE hit the baby, or maybe SHE did. I dont believe their story!! I can’t believe I know a murderer. I feel ashamed to have even been in the presence of a person that could be so heartless, so childish, so rude, and ignorant to have let their little boy die. I have a 3yr old son. I would NEVER let harm come his way, when he bumps his head while playing on the couch, or falls while playing outside. I wonder now, if I should rush him to the hospital. This is HORRIBLE!! Rest In Peace Alex . . No one will ever harm you again.
