Lake Mack, FL – Diana Carey’s Myspace looks kind of okay. Until you realize that none of the pictures of her children are dated after 2007, and most are from 2005 and 2006. And then you start seeing the boys – their stares, their eyes, the bruises that seem to show up more when you know what you’re looking at. The toddler with a broken arm. Then it’s no real shock that Chad and Diana Carey were arrested on SundaySunday reviews
for the abuse of three of their sons, ages ten, eight, and five.
It’s not like this is a new thing for the Careys. Chad Carey, 39, just got off probation April 30 for child abuse. The Careys have had no fewer than six DCF reports, and SIXTEEN referrals for their treatment of their kids.  I’m still trying to figure out why they even had custody of the three boys named in the complaint, and whether the other two were living in the home.
On May 20, Department of Children and Families investigators were called in to interview two of the boys at their school.  According to the DCF incident report, the boys said that their father often hit them and beat them with extension cords and belts. Their dad had hit one puppy in the head with a leash – so hard that the puppy “couldn’t walk right anymore”, they said.
And the physical evidence on the children backed up their statements, and then some. The little boys were covered with bruises and open sores, including a large infected cut on the eight year old’s foot. The eight year old also had rope burns around his neck, as though he had been choked or hung. The boys were filthy, and said it was because there was no running water at their house.
The reduced battery charge that led to Chad Carey’s probation was an abuse charge.  And one of the other DCF reports showed that the five year old son had been found with – guess what? RopeRope reviews
burns around his neck. What the hell? Someone please explain to me how you can get six DCF reports and keep your kids, because I don’t get that at all.
This time, the boys were immediately taken into DCF emergency custody. Five days later, on Sunday, the Careys were picked up during a traffic stop and served with warrants. They were taken to the Lake County Jail, where they are being held without bail pending court hearings.  Chad Carey is charged with three counts of child abuse, three counts of child neglect and one count of animal abuse.  Diana Carey is charged with three counts of child neglect.
Maybe this time the Florida Department of Children and Families will step up. Otherwise, the Carey’s boys will be sentenced to live the rest of their childhoods with these heinous abusers. Maybe now that Carey’s beaten an animal, the kids will get a fair chance.
