Jason Bisceglia Stole Asia Sterrett’s Baby

Update: 3/25/09- Jason Bisceglia has been sentenced to three to five years in prison. Bisceglia was also sentenced to three years of probation after pleading guilty in Worcester Superior Court on Tuesday to kidnapping and reckless endangerment of a child.

Gardner, Mass. – At 2:15 a.m. Friday morning, Asia Sterrett called 911. Her youngest child, Paul Baez Jr., had been in his crib at 1:40, and now he was gone. Her panic was palpable to dispatchers, and help was immediately sent.  But Asia, 20, didn’t know what could have happened to her six-month-old son.

Asia Sterrett had been having a party in her apartment Thursday night.  There were six people there to watch the Celtics game. There was some alcohol at the party, possibly a little weed smoking. Asia herself was not intoxicated, and had checked on and fed baby Paul and her one year old daughter throughout the evening. At 1:40 a.m., she had gone in to see her babies, and they were fine. When she went back about 2:00 a.m., Paul was not in his crib.

She thought it was a joke, or one of her guests was playing with the boy.  She searched the apartment – baby Paul was nowhere.  Nobody had him.  After some routine questions and a cursory look around, reinforcements were called.  Officers with search dogs scoured over 200 apartments in Asia’s complex, but there was no sign of baby Paul.

Within a few hours,  all of Asia’s guests were taken in to the Gardner police station for questioning. Jason  Bisceglia got sick while he was being questioned, and got permission from officers to go to the emergency room.  Police soon realized that Jason had not gone to the hospital.  Furthermore, other guests mentioned that Jason had left the party for a little while and then returned – right around the time baby Paul went missing.

Police officers went to Jason Bisceglia’s home, where he lives with his mom.  Jason took off running when he saw the officers, but eventually made his way back to the basement of his home, where police were waiting. He then led police to a broken down Honda parked in his driveway and opened the trunk. Baby Paul was inside. And he was alive.  By then, Paul Baez Jr. had been mossing for over eight hours.  He’d been in the trunk for two of those hours.

The Department of Social Services took baby Paul and his 16-month-old sister, also named Asia, into custody.  Little Asia is disabled and uses a prosthetic leg.  Asia Sterrett says that she believes she will get her children back once they are medically assessed.  She told reporters, ‘I’m not a bad mother. I take care of my kids. They never miss any of their appointments. My kids are well taken care of.’

Asia’s oldest child is a two year old son who was not in the home at the time of baby Paul’s abduction, as he was with his father Thursday night.

Jason Bisceglia has been charged with kidnapping and is being held on $50,000 cash bail.  His attorney is already arguing that Bisceglia’s bail should be lowered and “there might be mental health issues”.  Oh, yathink?

    Well if what Asia is saying is true, then she shouldn't loose her children. Yes, having weed and alcohol in the apartment is wrong, but she was not intoxicated. The only "mistake" she made is having friends over. She needs to choose her friends more wisely in the future, but sometimes you never know to what lengths a person will go to until it is too late. Thankfully, the baby is okay.

    This is very close to home literally. Both Asia & Jason live no more than 5 mins. from my house. It is such a quiet & safe area normally. I know these days no where is safe. I am just glad that baby is okay.

I love to read the articles although each one leaves me feeling outraged that there are actually people this pathetic/stupid/disgusting (I could go on and on) in the world. That being said, what was the point in stealing this baby and putting him in the trunk of a car? I am astounded at the stupidity of this kid. What made this seem like a good idea? I have never thought that putting a six month old child in the trunk of a car was a good idea. In fact, I can honestly say that I have never THOUGHT of putting a six month old child in the trunk of a car. I think that once you reach a certain age you should have to take an IQ test. If you can’t pass…… well, I am sure you can see where I am going with this. I am willing to bet that not many of these people (if any) that are featured in these articles would pass an IQ test.

    even if that WAS the reason, why didn't he just leave the party?? No, he took the baby, put him in his trunk, and then came back!!!. He even stayed long enough for the cops to show up and still didn't say a word.

    What pisses me off most about this FUCKING SCUMBAG is that he put the baby in the trunk. It is apparent, to me anyway, that he meant to kill this child. If not, he could've dropped the baby off at a Safe Haven somewhere. How long would that baby have stayed in the trunk if the police hadn't turned their attention to him?

    Why did the mom lose her kids? She checked on the baby at 1:40 and then again at 2:00 - I believe she is trying to keep a good eye on them. I don't understand how checking on your child every 20 minutes or so and a dumbass stealing your child, constitutes removal of both children. DFC won't remove the kids when 5 are living in a one room shack and all 5 sleeping in one bed - so where in the hell is the justification to punish the other child and mom because someone stole her child within 20 minutes of checking on the child that was in his own bed? Its bullshit, unless I've missed some facts.

    HELLO, she lost two of her kids before this even happen???????? and the night the crime took place, she was all messed up on drugs and booze. I live i gardner and know what they found at the place of crime. loser and drugs. and she was also having sex with half the freaking city, so maybe this was the kids father??? 19 year olds don't think to good when police are on there ass. yes what a dumb ass move, but with the crack and coke they found at the place of crime, just maybe mom ought to do the same time as the guy that took the baby, thank GOD they found the baby, and thank GOD DSS took them from her. who knows what would have happen to them with a crack head mother. besides, What the fuck would this kid want to fuck a cross nasty slut like that for. and she says she is a good mother lol lol lol. this is your typical mass trash sucking the system for as long as she can. if they take all the kids,,, she will have another one. can't give up that free money.

There were plenty of other drugs in the home and I believe DSS did the correct thing in removing the children for protection. I dont understand how you can say you are a good parent when there is a lot of minors in the home drinking and she is a minor herself allowing this in her home when her children are present. Yes putting the baby in the trunk of the car was probably one of the dumbest things that could have been done but drugs and alcohol dont allow anyone but especially young kids to think straight and use appropriate judgement.     Providing alcohol and drugs to minors sucks. But taking a baby and putting it in the trunk is fucked up way beyond that.

    So you're saying it's okay for you and others to judge this mother because she was drinking and "you heard" there might have been drugs at the party at her home. This to you shows that she is an unfit parent.

    But it's not okay for us to judge a man who was drunk or high regularly, abducted an infant who is not his - (he met the mother after the child was born) - and nearly killed the baby by locking him in a car trunk for two hours. Because to you, nearly killing a child during the commission of a kidnapping is just a mistake. After all, that's what the police are there for, to get up at two in the morning and scour the city for a missing child while he lies. Am I reading you correctly?

    Look, PK, your priorities are all jacked up. And actually, not only do we have the right to judge your boy, but a jury will have that right as well. What do you suppose he was going to do with a baby? He didn't exactly pack a diaper bag or keep the child safe in any way. What, was he a customer at your auctions or something?

    So.. you have evidence that there was crack and coke at the party, yes? Why do you suppose that the police report doesn't mention that at all, and NO drug charges have been filed in the case? Where are you getting your information?

    Your facts are lame. You clearly don't even have enough information to realize that Jason and Asia didn't meet until well after Paul Baez Jr. was born. Obviously Jason is not this baby's father. Where is any evidence of this guy doing anything other than committing a felony child abduction? And what's the motive for locking an infant in the trunk of a car for two hours? In what universe is that excusable to you?

    Assassinating the character of the mother, even if she was a total skank, just smacks of you wanting to get some and being turned down. She's a beautiful young woman with a slammin' body - but you'd rather talk trash about the mom than realize that KIDNAPPING IS A FELONY. If that baby had died, would you still be trashing on the mom like this was her fault? She didn't put her baby in the trunk.

    My information is that one child was in a shared custody arrangement with his father, and the daughter and baby Paul were in Asia's custody. Any information or DCS files you have relating to the prior removal of her children I'd be very interested in seeing - please send me the links or the caseworker info so I can verify. Thanks!
