Efernia McClendon Ditched Her Baby

Opelika, AL – It’s been three months. Three months since a newborn baby girl was found dead, lying face down in a drainage ditch behind an Opelika apartment complex. The tiny body was wrapped in fabric, left outside in the weather. The coroner named her Noelani, because nobody came to claim her. Efernia Kaylee McClendon, 18, was arrested on FridayFriday reviews
after a grand jury indicted her in connection with the baby’s death.
Efernia McClendon moved to Opelika in 2006. Before that, she lived in Detroit. Her Myspace says that Efernia had attended Cherry Hill School for the Performing Arts in Inkster, Michigan during 2004 and 2005, but moved to Alabama in 2006, where she enrolled in Lanett High School. Whether she still attends there is unclear.
There’s no indication of a baby. No indication that anyone knew there might even be a baby. And for months, Efernia’s dead baby lay unclaimed, named only by Lee County Coroner Bill Harris and his wife. The community and the Harrises gave Noelani a funeral on February 28.
After extensive investigation it was determined that baby Noelani was born alive, and then killed. Cause of death is still undetermined.
Efernia Kaylee McClendon was charged with manslaughter, a crime for which the penalty is two to 20 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine. She is being held at the Lee County Detention Center on $50,000 bond pending her May 27 arraignment.

Actually, I wish we could regulate breeding–put all females on Norplant or something until they are able to physically and emotionally support a child. I don’t care who with or how frequently people have sex, but goddamn, don’t bring an innocent being into your 3-ring-circus of a life.

Gee, dammitall, why don’t we just regulate breeding by putting all males on the equivalent of Norplant (yes, the equivalent for males has been created, it’s true), or, you know, just give all little boys vasectomies (after all, they really are 100% reversible)? NAH. She should have had a damn ABORTION if she didn’t want to care for a child. And may I add it would be better for all and sundry if the government put some $$$ not into regulating breeding but into covering birth control (and perhaps abortions, too) for poor&stupid girls like the one in this article.

This Effer should have aborted this child. Better to be a little aborted fetus than a murdered baby rotting in a drain pipe.
Funny how the Effer-nias of the world can’t figure how to keep their legs crossed nor to get contraceptives, but they sure can secretly give birth and find a place to stuff Dead Newborn. Getting down to the primitive instincts, like those mother animals who eat their newborn young when they feel in danger.

Boys can’t get pregnant. She should have had an abortion, but they cost money. The govt. used to subsidize them, then the Right to Lifers raised enough hell over that to put a stop to it. They’d rather see people ditch their babies than abort them.
More cheap or free birth control won’t help dickwads like Efernia, it’s already available at Planned Parenthood, but she decided she’d much rather go through pregnancy and labor, look into her baby’s eyes and murder it.

I hear you Squeaky. Mr IO and I want to have more baby IO’s and that may not happen for us (but its damn fun trying). It breaks my heart knowing there are people out there who WANT a baby, and this fucking bitch has the nerve to birth that baby look at it, and then murder it. I just don’t get it. I couldn’t imagine what a soulless person could do such a thing.

Why should taxpayers pay to correct two idiots who procreated mistake? Besides, contraception is free so what more do they want? Also, I don’t think anybody wants to see a baby get dumped in a ditch. Maybe if they quit making adoption fees so high, people would adopt more American babys than go to China and Korea to do it. Hell, I’d adopt an unwnted baby, but it’s $10,000 just to start the process! The only time anything is done in this country is if someone profits-including abortionists and adoption agencies. Regular people are shut out of being part of the solution.

Besides not wanting to pay for her abortion, there are “Safe Haven” signs and commercials EVERYWHERE. Hell, bitch could have even called 911, told them she had no way to get her baby to a fire station or other SH but doesn’t want it, and they’d COME GET IT, no questions asked. There is just no excuse for what she did. None.

Taxpayers are paying to correct Effer-nia for killing her baby. Does Effer look like someone who can afford an attorney? And the expense of the trail is going to be on the taxpayers. So the taxpayers pay in either case.
I agree that adoption should not be so difficult and expensive. Especially since it doesn’t seem to prevent kids from ending up in the hands of abusers and nut cases anyway.

Sir Geoff, wrybread is right: taxpayers pay for it either way. If she’d had the baby (and kept it, or turned it over to a hospital or whatever) we’d be paying for that, too. People who cannot afford or are otherwise unable to care for a baby should not have a baby. Sadly, there are many states that truly do pose (by the judgment of any reasonable person) what the Supreme Court termed an “unreasonable difficulty” when it comes to procuring an abortion. At any rate, this shit should have had had one.
