Well, maybe all the gray cats want you! I just rescued a little (about 10 mo. old) gray kitty. He showed up out of nowhere after a snow. I just had to put my Annie to sleep on 1/31 (she had inoperable intestinal cancer) and 4 days later he comes screaming down the driveway. He’s doing really well, is now neutered and was treated for worms and is like a super sweet little cuddly doll. I named him Georgie.

Twiggy lived to be 16 years old, a real cultural relic by the time she died. She was a great kitty. You may be right about the gray ones wanting me. I seem to get a bunch of them. I can’t say no to them because of their coat color. I did have an orange one for a short while and it thrilled me just to look at his beautiful color. But I love them all and the gray ones need a home, too.
I’ve got a stray whom I’m feeding right now. I never see the kitty. Just lonely little paw tracks in the snow.

Nothing a havahart trap and a vet visit for a checkup and neutering won’t cure! That’s how I’ve caught all of my feral kitties (and others). If you haven’t done it before I can help you with the particulars. I’ve been rescuing and trapping for 30 years. I hate it when kitties have to survive a cold winter, and many of mine were “winter cats.” Maybe this one will be your “winter cat” come home (and not gray!)

My big gray one, named Grayfur (original) campaigned for two years to get rid of the last stray I took in and still has to take anxiety medicine. She went to a home that’s much better than mine — her own room and an entire family to adore her.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t do a little more for Mr./Ms. Stray. Especially if it’s a she and kittens are about to appear with the Springtime. I think I know where to get a trap. Will keep you updated and thanks for the offer of help.

Feb 14, 2008 at 4:04 am -I have never met a cat I couldn’t introduce into my home and have it work out. I’m guessing if done slowly and tuned to the behavior and personality of the resident cats you may very well be able to make it work. You may *need* to make it work if the cat by chance is feral as they are nearly impossible to adopt out, but can make a fine housecat provided they are properly socialized (which requires mostly time, patience and good food.) There are many techniques and ways of doing things and I think you could be successful this time. I’d be happy to advise if it comes to that. I’m on the staff of a vet clinic as a feline behavior counselor and have helped many people successfully manage difficult introductions.

That daycare owner has no business employing people to work there without credentials and drug testing. on dec. 20th bluntface posted on bubba’s my space to get a job…. when did he start this job exactly.
18 year olds here are not permitted to drink beer… his friend on my space seems to smoke blunts… The daycare really should be testing for drugs before employing ass teachers. I seen different kinds of smokes on bubba’s my space I would doubt they are all smoking crack. Maybe that is what bubba was looking for down in that 4 yr olds pants

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I joined so that I could post about the Bubba/pedophile situation.
He looks, eerily, like the young Richard Ramirez (the Night Stalker.)
I, too, am an RN. I am troubled by the use of the term “burning” used by the 4 year old victim. “Burning” can describe irritated vaginal mucosa or a urinary tract infection, (brought on by the dirty fingers of the perpetrator probing around the urethra and inner labia, or forcing fingers or instrumentation through a closed hymen) but it also is a classic symptom of gonorrhea (even when there is no discharge.) I do hope that this child’s rape kit (I’m assuming one was done) included both oral and vaginal cultures for gonorrhea.
Many years ago, (about 35, when I was in the Navy) a pre-schooler was brought to our pediatric clinic for complaints of a persistent sore throat. A very savvy (for that time) nurse practitioner had a gut instinct that something just wasn’t right. She obtained, in addition to the routine physical exam of the child, a very detailed psycho-social family history. The child’s mom shared, during this exchange, that there were some marital problems. Upon further questioning by this NP who was very empathetic, the woman told her that she and her husand were separating, pending divorce, because he had recently returned from WestPac and had given her gonorrhea (for which she was still on antibiotics, also prescribed at our own GYN clinic a few days prior. ) He was no longer living with the family–she had thrown him out of their base housing as soon as she’d been diagnosed, so he was back on the ship.
Following her hunch, the nurse practitioner ordered not just the routine a strep throat culture, but a GC (gonorrhea) culture of the pre-schooler’s throat. Sure enough, it was positive. This was the girl’s biological father.
Of course, the girl’s mom was floored–I truly believe she was absolutely unaware and unsuspecting that, as scummy as her cheating husband was, he would not stoop so low as to sexually assault their own young daughter .
(You have to remember that, at least in those days, many men out at sea had “girls in every port”—but they were very careful not to bring STDs home to their wives. Some of the wives had lovers, too, while their husbands were out at sea–hence the term “WestPac Widows.”)
Anyway, this couple separated and divorced very, very soon after that incident–in fact, the guy, if I recall correctly, was immediately placed in the brig, and eventually received a dishonorable discharge from the Navy.

Anyway, my point is, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find that the one observed situation that was caught on video (during nap time) wasn’t “Bubba’s” first rape of that child–and perhaps there are other victims.
I am betting that there were plenty of unsupervised moments–during potty-time; during clothes-changing times–that were NOT caught on video. This incident probably just represents the tip of the iceberg.
I hope that some special victims detectives who are used to interviewing (and establishing trust with) children who are victims of sexual assault are working this case, and are able to elicit details from other possible victims as to what “Bubba” and his wandering hands (or other body parts) may have done to them behind closed doors.

Thing is, here at DD we can be really crass, crude, and amused with ourselves and each other. But what nobody here is laughing at is a four year old sexual assault victim. That little girl’s life has been touched in a way that has changed who she is and who she will grow up to be. Physically she was hurt, but that’s only the beginning of what this little girl will suffer as she grows up. Low self esteem, nightmares, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and unsafe promiscuity are just some of the symptoms of childhood sexual abuse. Nobody here is laughing at that. Many of us are all too aware.
The daycare also has some severe problems. The videotape caught what was probably only one of many assaults, and yet the owner still hasn’t notified parents, or hadn’t as of yesterday. My source says that Bubba had worked there part time for several years. He may not have begun molesting children immediately upon his employment, but this child is almost certainly not his only victim.
If our troll-child commenter is any indication, yet again we have a situation where the people in a position to protect children would rather protect the alleged offender, even with a smoking-gun videotape as evidence. That’s sad, but not surprising. We are talking about the ‘Zarks, after all, where children get hurt and nobody says boo except “Mah man is innasense, when we prove it will you post an opoligy?” Unfortunately, we have yet to have anyone proven innocent that we profile here.
Public shaming is such an integral part of what we do here that it has its own category when we’re writing posts. What the law and families won’t do in holding pedophiles and child abusers accountable, we will. If you hurt a child and we find out, we will point and laugh at you. And we will point and laugh at your defenders, because to defend someone who has hurt a child is almost as bad as hurting the child yourself.
