Bentonville, AR - Sherrie Tomlinson, 30, does not understand what everyone’s so upset about. After all, there’s no real reason her nine-year-old son couldn’t babysit his two-year-old sister for a few hours, right? After all, she had gambling to do. You know, so she could win money to buy milk for the baby. And you can’t take your kids to the casino.
Last weekend, Siloam Springs police were called to Tomlinson’s house to check on her kids. The officer showed up and found Sherrie’s two children, ages 9 and 2. The two year old was in a bedroom looking out the window while the nine year old was outside.  So the officer kindly asked the older child, a boy, where his mother was.
“I am watching sis while my mom is playing her Free 5 at the casino,” said the kid. The elder child did not behave as thought this was in any way out of the ordinary, so the officer loaded up the boy and his little sister and took them to the police station to await their mother.
Sometime later - police don’t say how much later, but it was clearly hours, because the children were taken into protective custody - police managed to make contact with Sherrie Tomlinson. Her story was that she’d had a flat tire and a friend came to take her to get it fixed, but the place was closed, so she figured she might as well go play her $5 coupon at the casino so she could win milk money for the kids.
Bright one, that. Never occurred to her that she told her son she was going to the casino when she left. Or that she could have used the $5 for milk instead of gambling tickets. But then, Sherrie doesn’t look like a mental giant. Girl has a mugshot that would get knocked right out of competition in our forums. I think she’d have a shot if she’d close her mouth and try to look less stupid, but clearly that’s not a realistic expectation. Next time, Sherrie. You coulda been a contender.
Sherrie Tomlinson is being held in the Benton County Jail on two counts of felony child endangerment. She has yet to make her $5000 bond.

I love that her nine-year-old busted her. So fucking sad that the kid understands where she is and that it was a normal situation for them. I’ll be thinking about “Gone Baby Gone” every time one of these stories hits the front page.

It’s people like her (and worse) who want me to push for a law to be passed for people to be forced to take parenting classes before they can become parents….or we should be able to sterilize them all. Fucking idiots…
