Update: 3/20/09-Morgan Hite has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and five years of mandatory parole. Hite pleaded guilty in January to a charge of child abuse resulting in death. Prosecutors dropped several other charges including first-degree murder in exchange for that plea.
Wasilla, AK and Grand Junction, CO – More to the point, Morgan Hite left someone. What was left of someone, anyway. Hite, 22, left the corpse of her murdered newborn son in a tote bag at her father and stepmother’s Colorado home after a visit. After she left, she went home to AlaskaAlaska reviews
, apparently not thinking that dead babies eventually begin to smell funny. I guess Morgan will have time to rethink that misconception in prison.
I don’t know what made Morgan Hite think she could just hide a dead body in a tote bag, stick the bag in a closet, and forget it. But that’s what she did, and what’s even more horrible is that she lived in the guest room with the corpse of her baby for over a month before she left. How did she sleep at night, knowing what she’d done?
On February 24, Hite and her four-year-old daughter Mary Elizabeth left their home in Wasilla, Alaska and flew to Colorado. When they got there, Morgan’s dad Chris and stepmother Stacy Hite noticed that Morgan looked about six months pregnant. Nope, she said, she had been, but she’d just had the baby and given it up for adoption. She was too broke for another one, and besides, she and Mary’s father Nate Pokryfki were having some problems. It just wasn’t a good time.
The very next day, while Stacy Hite was out with a neighbor, Morgan went to the neighbor’s house because the maid arrived at the elder Hites’ home. Morgan put her daughter down for a nap at the neighbor’s, then locked herself in the bathroom and proceeded to give birth. Hite says her baby son didn’t cry, but that she didn’t try to stimulate him, either.
By that time, Stacy Hite and the neighbor had gotten home and knocked on the door. Morgan said she was bleeding and cramping really badly, and could her stepmom get her some fresh clothes and let her take a bath right there? I probably would have thought that was weird if it was my house, but being a gracious hostess, the neighbor said “sure”, and Stacy brought Morgan a plastic bag and some clothes. Nobody heard a baby cry.
Then Morgan Hite cleaned herself up and wrapped up the newborn boy in one plastic bag and her bloody clothes in another. Which she tied off and carried right out of the house like nothing was terribly wrong. Since the women had taken little Mary back to the Hites’ home, nobody saw Morgan leave with a plastic-wrapped newborn under her arm.
When she got back to her father and stepmother’s home, Morgan put the baby, still wrapped in plastic, in a rubber-lined plastic tote bag. She then shoved the bag into the closet of her guest room and left it there , never bothering to open it again.
Morgan Hite stayed with her parents for over a month after that. During that time, Morgan checked her Myspace and messaged Nate Pokryfki on his MyspaceMySpace
page and told him she and their daughter missed him. She went to a hockey tournament, snowboarding in Vail, and to the zoo. She did all kinds of things – except tell anyone what she’d done to her baby.
On April 3, Morgan Hite left Colorado – and left the rotting corpse of her dead baby son in her family’s spare room closet.
On April 29, Stacy Hite was trying to figure out what had been smelling up the house for several weeks. She followed her nose to the closet and found the tote bag. Stacy opened the bag to find plastic bags – and inside those, the decaying body of Morgan Hite’s baby, and a bloody green towel. That poor woman. I cannot even fathom the horror and disgust at instantly realizing what had been happening in her home for all those weeks. She probably thought it was a dead mouse, or a raccoon. To find a baby – her stepdaughter’s baby – boggles the mind.
The Hites called police and told them what they knew. The baby’s body was taken for autopsy, where it was determined that he had been born alive and suffocated, possibly inside the plastic bag his mother had put him in like so much trash.
Morgan Hite is being held without bond in Wasilla, Alaska pending extradition to Colorado. She is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death. I think a little time in a plastic bag might be a helpful deterrent to this kind of behavior in her future. About four minutes should do it.

Could anything be colder? She not only calmly gave birth and shoved him in a bag to die, but she lived in the same room with the corpse for another month?
And what, exactly, did she think would happen in this scenario long-term? That no one would EVER find that baby? If she was there for a month, couldn’t she have found time to bury him in the backyard or drop him by a dump or something? How lazy can you be??

I can never ever fathom how a women can carry a baby deliver it and than discard their newborn like used toilet paper, their own baby, their flesh and blood a baby who depends upon their mother to survive.
Every time I hear stories like this cunt’s I get dizzy and nauseous, I would have taken the baby, I can guarantee there are many others that would too.

Right now, Mary’s father Nate Pokryfki has custody of her. He’s innocent in this, poor guy, and his Myspace is devoted to his daughter.
I’ve read a few places that Morgan Hite was having an issue about paternity as well, that this baby might not have been Nate’s child, so that could have factored into her decision. I think her defense will try to argue mental distress or something stupid like that.

SO sad I looked at the pictures of her little girl she looked so happy with her daddy now she has to grow up knowing her “MOMMA” murdered her little tiny innocent baby brother and STUFFED HIM IN A BAG. How Horrible for her her family to find that little body just abandoned in a closet. I think of that baby boys first moments (also his LAST) and it brings tears to my eyes. what a cunt. I hate her. You have to not have a soul to carry life inside you and then murder it the moment it leaves your body. SHE HAD OTHER CHOICES. I would have taken that baby and wrapped his little body in a soft warm blankie and kissed his face and loved him like my own.

I can’t even remotely imagine making that grim discovery and then reality smacking you in the face realizing that you were there when it happened and provided her the bags in which to stuff the poor, poor baby.
Don’t you know Stacy would like a few moments alone with her – making Stacy a party to such shit. I know I would. Now when I say Stacy was a “party to”, I’m not implying that she was a willing participant or even had any type of hint as to what was happening. I just know that’s how I would have felt and assume that she feels accordingly.
Even if I had just been trying to accommodate my step daughter and later discovered that I had given her the bags that she stuffed that poor baby in – well the guilt would kill me. I would be thinking “why didn’t I question her more?” or “what signs did I miss” or “why didn’t I do anything different?” I could go on with all the “or why didn’t I’s” but you get my point. No matter how innocent I was in all of this, the guilt would eat at me everyday and possibly drive me over the edge.

I did learn the word “asshat” on this site…and its come in handy quite a few times. Its my new favorite word. My husband was a little cranky and being well…an asshat…and when I pointed that out and used that word…he laughed so hard he forgot what he was crabby about.

On the topic of the thread — do you all think baby killing has gone up with the acceptance of out-of-wedlock births? I don’t have ANY axe to grind here, just wondering what you all have observed. It seems to me there’s a large, large, large population of women with kids whom they don’t really want. The kids dangle along the edges of their lives like clunky accessories that they cannot wait to jettision.
Also, why does child birth take hours of groaning and screaming in hospitals, but baby-killers always seem able to step into a closet or bathroom and get through the entire process with no one knowing?

I’m sure that Dad and Stepmom would NOT have had a problem with having her stay at their home, have a baby, give it away, and go back to her life in Alaska with none of her friends being any the wiser. Also that poor neighbor, knowing now that it was her bathroom where the baby boy was born and the blood. After Morgan left she probably had to clean and straighten up.
Poor stacy having to unzip that bag, not just the odor but the site as she inspected the contents. Wondering who else witnessed the contents.
I think selfishness is the cause for people that don’t consider adoption, it has to be hard to deal mentally with the unknown. Unless you can be free to see your child and know they are being cared for… has to be playing on your mind constantly.

Oh my god this made me cry! I see alot of stories about bitches who just dump their babys or kill them after birth but this takes the cake. She discussed adoption, she must have at one time thought of it as an option, and she still did what she did. My boyfriend was put up for adoption at birth in 1982 by a very unselfish, loving mother. She deserves the title of mom, not this cunt. I thank the heavens everyday that she made that choice, so I could meet him, and now I am pregnant with his child.

We had a 16 year old in Chicago this week that dropped her newborn off at a fire station. It barely made a blip on the bottom of the page of the paper. I think its cause for celebration. Update: Morgan Hite Extradited From Alaska To Face Murder Charges
An Alaska woman who is accused of killing her newborn baby by putting him in a bag and shoving it in a closet was booked into a jail in Grand Junction Friday.
Hite had moved to Alaska and was living with her 4-year-old daughter, police said.
Her daughter is now in the custody of Hite’s boyfriend in Alaska.
