Sacramento, CA - Samantha J., 17, was having problems. Problems big enough that she needed inpatient psychiatric treatment. On March 8, Samantha was admitted to Heritage Oaks Hospital in Sacramento for help with those problems. She was put in the juvenile ward and placed on close watch to prevent self-harm. But Samantha’s problems quickly got worse, not better. Sunday Adeife, the man in charge of checking on Samantha, is accused of raping the girl repeatedly overnight on March 9.
Adeife, 42, was caught on video going into Samantha’s room. A lot. More than was necessary as part of his job as a psych tech. When he was investigated, Adeife insisted that of course the girl was crazy and lying. He offered a buccal swab for DNA. That was his mistake. DNA showed that the odds of anyone else depositing the sperm sample taken from Samantha’s body was one in 250 quadrillion.
Samantha could have told police that, and she did. She said she knew her attacker was a male of African descent, with an accent she described as “African”. He had a fade haircut, Samantha said, and wore a distinctive cologne she could identify if necessary. But the only male from Africa on the juvenile floor the night Samantha was raped was Sunday Adelani Adeife.
It makes perfect sense from a rapist standpoint. Get a job where there are available victims. Do what you want, nobody will believe the girls because they’re crazy already, right? Bastard. Adeife took the most vulnerable patient - a girl at risk of harming herself - and made her nightmare worse. I can think of few more horrible abuses of trust, of safety, than what Sunday Adeife did.
Which begs the question: what did Heritage Oaks know, and when did they know it? Heritage Oaks is part of a group of psychiatric facilities owned by Psychiatric Solutions, Inc., a large hospital corporation with 10,000 beds in 31 states. In Sacramento, both Heritage Oaks and Sierra Vista Hospital are part of the same company. In California alone, there are six Psychiatric Solutions facilities. In how many of those has Sunday Adeife worked, and when?
To Heritage Oaks’ credit, it does appear that they took Samantha’s allegations seriously. A rape kit was done and the semen sample that matched Adeife’s DNA was taken, so they didn’t just brush her off and cover up - but Larry Menard at the California Department of Justice says that his agency had investigated Adeife before for similar charges.
“The same person had been investigated by us at another mental health facility,” says Menard. “But we weren’t able at that time to prove anything.”
Investigators are asking anyone who may have been abused by Sunday Afeife to please contact law enforcement.
Sunday Adelani Adeife was arrested on Monday evening. He is charged with two counts of rape without consent of a disabled person, two counts of sexual penetration of a victim unable to consent, three counts of sexual battery on a disabled or institutionalized person, two counts of unlawful intercourse (statutory rape), and two counts of penteration by a foreign object. He is being held on $600,000 bond.

I have not seen Danao’s page. I don’t think I will look - that way I can pretend Swivel, is the only one associated with that gravatar. I know I’m supposed to be to old to “pretend” - but hey, what ever gets me through the day, right?
If not for pretending, I would have to cringe, repeatedly and maybe vomit given ole Danao’s writings and admissions.

In my experience working in public and general hospital psychiatric wards, the patients’ safety was always paramount (especially juveniles!). Even if only because they were so scared shitless of lawsuits…
It’s so hard to get people who need it to agree to hospitalization anyway, and then this kind of stuff scares them even more. What an utter violation. Glad they took the girls report seriously. I bet this guy gave the more perceptive staff members a hinky feeling even before this.

I am glad that the hosptial took her claims seriously. It would have been very easy for them to brush her claims off.

Seriously, she has problems that are serious enough to warrant a stay in a psych-hospital and then some psycho goes and makes her problems 10,000 times worse. No telling how much more mental or emotional damage he did to her, but I hope that she can recover from this somehow.

I’d be afraid of what they’d do if they were castrated….
