Rock Hill, SC - That happy looking young woman above is 16-year-old Narasha Simpson. She has been charged with attempted poisoning from an event that happened on April 21st. Simpson, who was angry at her parents, decided to get back at them by pouring bleach in to two seperate 2-liters of soda. Luckily, no one in her family was harmed, but Narasha has been charged as an adult.

A police report states that Simpson’s mother, Devinia, had brought home a 2-liter Pepsi and a 2-liter Diet Mountain Dew and put both sodas in the freezer April 20. The next day, she left the sodas unattended on a kitchen counter to thaw. Some time later, she noticed that the Pepsi had been opened and that “the contents were very light in color”. When the top was removed, the unmistakable smell of bleach was observed.

Simpson admitted to putting the bleach in the soda out of anger, but it has not been revealed what she was angry about. She was released to her parents on Tuesday.

I’m glad that nobody was daft enough to drink the bleach….

I’m also thinking that there’s no way that a normal, well-raised, well-adjusted 16 year old girl would try to poison her parents.

Wonder what’s been happening at home.

Maybe she thought her family all had filthy mouths, and was just trying to help them out a bit. Poor girl, in trouble for trying to make them better people! No, wait….for trying to make them dead! Make her drink some of the soda she poisoned, maybe it will help her ‘clean up’ her act.

She was released to her parents on Tuesday.

Her parents took her home? With them? I hope they hide all of the household cleaners while she’s there.

Next story: “Narasha Simpson found chained to bed with bowl of bleach for supper; parents give 20-life for child abuse.

At least, that’s probably how it would go down in the Imp House.

Ohhhh, I dunno. I had a normal, well-raised, unabused brother who got pissed off one day when he was eight and pissed in the apple juice container. He thought we’d all die and he would have the Nintendo all to himself.

    So it could totally happen.

So, Imp, would you like a glass of apple juice? Fresh from the orifice….ummm, I meant orchard…. :-D

Notice that it’s the sweet, innocent looking ones that you have to watch out for? They keep quiet, hold everything in and then one day BAM!!! They just let you have it.

Yeah, while I’m normally the first to question the parents’ hand in the matter…

I was also a teenaged girl, once. While I never poured bleach into something my family members would drink, I can certainly sympathize with the “fucked up shit that seemed like a good idea at the time” occurances. Teens can often think very impulsively. I think I once considered “poisoning” a friend with ipecac syrup…and what kid hasn’t considered the laxative prank? Sure, bleach is a little more hardcore and this chick is older than I was when I considered those things…

…but she’s obviously a late bloomer (or dud), intellectually speaking. I mean, who poisons anyone with one of the most obvious smelling chemicals known to man?

Yeah….they should probably charge her with stupidity, too. How much time do you normally get on a ’stupid charge’? Oh, yeah, in most cases it’s a life sentence. LOL.

I’m just worried, because we don’t know.

    Seriously.

What if she’s abused to the point that she’d try to murder her captors/parents, AND she’s too stupid to succeed?

    I’m just sayin’….

    Devil’s advocate, and whatnot.

What if she’s abused to the point that she’d try to murder her captors/parents, AND she’s too stupid to succeed?

Yeah, but I think if that was the case, she would have mentioned it to someone in the jail, and would NOT have been released to her parents. I could be wrong. She might be too scared to say anything even in jail. But if she was abused enough to attempt murder, jail would have been the perfect place to tell her secrets. It would be much more believable.

What did she tell the police was her reason for attempting to murder her family?

Dunno, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “They were abusing me”, or she would not be home with them right now. She just said she was pissed at them, but as far as I know, she didn’t say why.

I have to admit, I just have a hard time thinking that a 16 year old girl could be accountable for her actions if they’re this kind of evil.

That’s a limitation on my part, I guess.

I always tend to think that horrible parents or bad socialization or crappy genetics are responsible. I can’t believe that a kid would be a murderer without one of the above being the case.

    Again, my limits…..

I agree…if there has been a situation at home who knows for how long, or how severe, i’ve read that most children of abuse isolate themselves and find it hard to open up to anyone, and live the way they think is acceptable.

Clearly she was just trying to prevent them from drinking those unhealthy beverages and getting tooth decay or diabetes. Very considerate!

But what’s really bothering me is…who freezes soda? Only to thaw it out again the next day? Doesn’t freezing a carbonated beverage make it explode? Couldn’t she have waited for an exploding beverage container to take her parents out?

Nah not always, I’ve frozen soda’s often, mainly to keep them cool until we got to the beach. I’ve always drunk a glassful out of it first, just so it doesn’t expand and split the bottle. It’s not much fun cleaning frozen coke from all over the inside of your freezer.
