Tina Davila Met A Couple Assholes
Houston - Tina Davila, 39, left her 4-month old in her car as she ran into a Cricket store to pay her phone bill. As she got out of her car, a gold Taurus pulled up beside her and a man got out, ran up behind her and stole her keys. Tina pleaded with the man to not steal her car, as her baby was inside, and fought to get her keys back from the man. The man then stabbed Tina to death.
These two men had been on a small crime spree before they attempted to steal Tina’s SUV. 5 minutes earlier, the same two men had stolen beer from a nearby convenience store, and a check on the license plate showed that the vehicle had been stolen from another city. Investigators are trying to find the stolen 2002 gold Ford Taurus with Texas license plate No. P42 CYY. Both men are considered armed and dangerous.
I posted this story, simply because of the video. You can see the majority of the incident happen in the video, which really just shows just how quickly something like paying a Cricket bill can turn into a life-or-death struggle in a matter of seconds.

Yeah, remember when the car was a SAFE place to leave the kids? Better than having them swarm all over the sidewalks and out into traffic while Mom or Dad was heading to a store to pay a bill. The only danger was that the kid might leave the car — not that someone might come to take the kid or the car.
You know, come to think of it, I would have been a fucked up little kid to target. Can you imagine trying to snatch me at 5? I’da been biting and stabbing and kicking and…barking the whole time. Some Lord of the Flies shit, or something. I don’t think my dad realised that, initially, I didn’t know it was a joke. I really thought I was supposed to do that shit. I mean, I straightened it out soon enough, but still…

Actually, no. I’m only 25, homie. The world when I was a kid was no safer than it is now, since I was a kid, like, Tuesday.
Seriously, though, I can’t say it often enough - Crime rates have dropped progressively over the last 30 years. The internet and TV make you think otherwise because they focus on these bad news stories, but generally speaking, for the last 30 years, every year has been a little bit safer than the one before it. 2007 was significantly safer than 1987, when I was 5.
The mom is dead but the baby was unharmed right? I’m betting if the mother had to choose this is exactly the choice she would have made. These animals don’t give a flying fuck about anybody and that includes kids.
The killer has been arrested.

They were illegal immigrants? This should really fan some flames…
I don’t think so. Illegal immigrants have been involved in violent crimes before and no one seems to care much.
I think it depends on where you are. I come from Arizona and there they care a whole lot.
Shit, she wasn’t just a mom, she was a mom of FIVE. Damn, that sucks.
I leave my kids in the car all the time. Sometimes, I let ‘em sleep out there. j/k.
I didn’t do it when they were babies, but now that they’re old enough to understand my instructions and that I’ll be right back, I do it all the time. Only if I can pull up directly in front of a glass-front store (JUST as the woman did in the video). Then I lock them in, put the parking brake on (just in case one of them gets a bright idea and kicks the gear shift or anything), tell them to stay PUT strapped into their seats, and then I run like hell to do my errand.
None of this holds true in extreme temps — too hot or too cold, and I won’t leave them at all, since I insist on locking up and taking the key, so I can’t control the climate for them.
I don’t care what the law says about it, frankly. I’m a responsible adult who can take care of myself and my children. Damn it, I don’t always wear a seatbelt either. So arrest me.
In the video it looks like there is no one else inside the store. So if she was just dropping a phone payment off, it would be less than a minute. I do not see any fault with her leaving the baby in the car, guess that makes me a shitty parent.
Is THAT what I was smelling? LOL
Damn, with all of the bad things I do with my kids, I must smell like an outhouse in the middle of July. Y’all do know that if you leave your kids in the car and they die of heatstroke, putting them in the trunk will cut down on that horrible stench of decay, don’t you? Just thought I’d try to be helpful.
Athena — I know you’re right about how life is actually safer than it used to be. The media doesn’t report everyday, dull events. Could anyone imagine a newstory, “Today, Thousands Left Their Kids in the Car and Things Worked Out Fine”? Or, “Child NOT Snatched by Stranger in the Mall. Spoke with No Strangers at All!”
It’s strange though how much fear of the unusual can rule anyway. I used to take my niece to stores and I was terrified every time she stepped away from me. And I live in a safe area. It was such a relief when she got old enough that I was convinced that disaster wasn’t just waiting for me to relax for an instant. I could not argue myself out of it.
