Wilsonville, Oregon - This father-and-son team were arrested on Thursday on sex charges involving at least seven underage girls, and there may be other victims. It seems that Russell Hamblen, 50, likes the idea of banging his son’s female acquaintances. And Paul Hamblen, 18, really doesn’t have a problem with that. In fact, he likes to help. The victims so far appear to all be females aged 14 to 17, most of them students at Wilsonville High School, where Paul Hamblen is a senior. Go Wildcats!
The first victim to report went to authorities last year and said that she’d been at the Hamblen home when she got drunk and was raped by Paul Hamblen. Paul was arrested in March on that rape charge and made bail, but investigators digging into the case uncovered a mess of freaky father-son activities involving several other young girls.
Mostly, their stories are the same. Paul would invite the girls over to hang out. The girls would go alone, end up drunk or woozy, and end up with Paul and his creepy molester dad Russell on top of them. In one instance, Paul tried to strangle a victim. In others, video and/or photographs were taken of the abuse.
At least one neighbor says that people knew Russell was a creep because he got drunk at a neighborhood party and grabbed the ass of a neighbors’ teenage daughter. No charges were apparently filed in that instance.
Paul Hamblen is charged with sodomy, sexual abuse and strangulation in addition to the earlier rape count. His current bail is set at $250,000. Russell Hamblen is charged with five counts of sexual abuse, three counts of giving alcohol to minors, and one count each of attempted rape, sodomy, and using a child in a video sexual display. His bond is $775,000. Both Hamblens are in the Clackamas County Jail awaiting an April 17 court hearing. Investigators are asking other teenagers who may have been victims of this pair to come forward and contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Department.

OK, this story doesn’t say anything about the wife/mother. Is she dead? Did she wake up a couple of years ago and realize what kind of sick perverts she was living with? Or is she still in the house and playing the classic role of the enabler, by turning a blind eye to her husband’s and son’s nasty activities. Enquiring minds want to know……..
What I want to know is how did THAT kid get any girls to go home with him in the first place? Kids like that in my day would have wet their pants if a girl even glanced at them for more than a second. Just sayin.

OK, it’s been a long time since I’ve trotted this old standby out, but here goes: Where the FUCK were the parents of the GIRLS they raped? You know, the ones between the ages of 14 and 17? Why the fuck were these girls even below the radar on their parents’ “wherethefuckismykid” device long enough to BE raped by two men?
If my kid is off of my “wherethefuckismykid” radar for more than five minutes, without calling, her ass is grounded for a month! She’s 14. Hell, even my daughter in college calls me to let me know what she’s up to, and where she’ll be most of the time - and she lives 200 miles away from me on campus! Parents, please, know where the fuck your kids are!

Well, you do have to figure if he invited the girls over that the parents probably knew that they were at his house, they just didn’t know what sick bastards him and his dad were. Why the girls other girls didn’t say something to their parents is beyond me. Granted these guys were probably using roofies or the equivalent so alot of the girls probably didn’t even remember the attack. As for his looks, some girls like all types…..i should know. I’m not the best looking guy out there and i still had girls that liked me when i was in high school. But anyway good ol’ mom, if she’s still around, probably would have known what was going on.

Parents, please, know where the fuck your kids are!
Unless your kids are applying for sainthood, there surely have been and will be times that you just *think* you know where they are.
My father used to say, “The only thing worse than dumb kids are smart ones”, and he was right. He knew the score. No parent is omnipresent, and if a teenager really wants to get one over on mom and dad, odds are, the kid will without the parents ever even realizing it.
The fact of the matter is, parents can’t possibly know where their kids are all the time for eternity. Also, knowing where your kid is doesn’t necessarily save them, like we see regularly here at D’D. I’m not saying don’t try to keep tabs - every parent should endeavor to know where their kids are. But, that kid WILL slip off the radar on occasion, and should have the tools to safely navigate that territory.
I don’t understand why more parents don’t specifically explain the danger of “cool” parents to their kids. If you’re a kid and you go to a house where the parent provides alcohol, drugs and wants to hang out, that should creep you the fuck out. Red flags should be flyin’.
So, that’s the question I ask - Instead of “where were the parents?”, I tend to wonder, “why didn’t this kid know better?”
Either way, sadly, there’s no way to guard 100% against victimization.
Very, very true. Scary, but true. I know I got several over on my mom. I am soooooooooooooooooooooo thankful my teenager is not like I was in my teen years. I am probably one of the luckiest teen parents, so far, anyway.

On second thought, the mother may be deceased. I found a Kristine A Hamblen, 48, associated with the father and son’s home address. I also found a mention of a Kristine A Hamblen’s, also 48, death on 12/13/2004.
I’ll give you that, Athena, and even agree with you. However, a 14-year old, I would think would be more likely to have ‘close’ supervision than, say, the 17-year old. And if, in this case, the parents actually did know where she was and thought it was safe because she ‘knew’ the pervs, that is another thing that should be addressed in the ‘keeping yourself safe’ talk.
My daughters are not allowed to have any of their girl friends over unless I am home. And when my son gets into his teen years, he will not have any friends over unless his dad is home. Not because I am worried about anything actually happening (because I’m not), but because so many girls (and boys) these days have been caught lying about parents of their friends just to get attention. In the boys’ cases, most of the time, it is done during a ‘brag session’ with their friends, and one of the friends tells another adult, and the boy who lied sticks to his story to avoid ‘losing face’ with his friends. Until the incident is proven to be false - but by then the damage is already done. As with the girls who lie about a friend’s father (I have known of two cases like this in the county I live in, and the county population is less than 10,000), by the time the lie is discovered, the man’s reputation is already fucked.
For that reason, also, I will not allow my daughters to spend the night at the house of a friend who has a teenage brother, or stay with a friend whose mother is not going to be home. It is to protect her, as well as the other family’s reputation. So, if one of my daughter’s male friends were to invite her to his house, she would not go anyway, and especially not if the only parent present was going to be the father. I have drilled into her the dangers of putting herself into situations like that. I have been accused by many people of trying to make my daughter “as paranoid as I am”. I don’t consider it paranoia, though, only common sense. My daughters know what I went through as a child and teen, and they are better able to understand things of this nature than some others might.
Again, Athena, I totally agree that if a teen wants to ‘pull a fast one’, on mom and dad, they have a very good chance of being successful at least once or twice in their lives. But if the parent teaches them the dangers of certain situations, they are more likely to try to avoid certain scenarios. And I know many of you won’t believe it, but the way I raise my kids, they really should never have reason to try and ’sneak off’ to do anything. My oldest never has, and she is still honest with me about the things she does in her life. She told me about all of her ‘firsts’, from kissing (and more), to getting drunk the first time at college. I try to be as open as I can with my kids so that they will trust me enough to confide in me when they do things, and so they will trust me when I tell them to do (or not do) certain things in order to keep them safe.
Dadda is very evil looking, what with the receding eyes and all (aging guys are meant to lose their hair, not their stare). Sonny boy looks stunned, but he’s been into it for a while, so no leeway. Judging by their increasingly extreme tag-team behaviour, I’m sure this would have led to murder, either through overdosing, rough sex or strangulation.
Thank the Goddess it didn’t need to come to that before nabbing these sick bastards - they’re an embarrassment to manhood. Shave ‘em both down to pink skin and release into the wilds of a prison yard. Without the sphincter-relaxing benefits of alcohol, they’ll be quealing like pigs, soon enough.
