Orlando, Fla. - If enough bad shit cannot already happen to you while shopping at Wal-Mart, one woman experienced more than long lines, rude customers and absent employees. This woman happened to meet with David Welker, 24. Welker had been waiting in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart for 30 minutes when this woman arrived at 6:15 a.m. with her 15-month-old daughter. As she exited her vehicle, Welker ordered her back into her car at gunpoint, drove her and her daughter to the back of the store and raped the mother in front of the child.
Welker reclined the front passenger seat and ordered the woman to lie facedown. He then raped her while she looked at her child in the car seat behind her. The entire time Welker pressed a .25-caliber pistol against the 15-month-old toddler.
Investigators said Welker then locked her in her trunk, stole her credit card and left. What Felker didn’t know was that the trunk did not latch and the woman was able to get out, drive home and call police. Felker, an idiot as well as an asshole, was caught on a nearby ATM surveillance camera successfully withdrawing money from the victim’s account. Within one hour of releasing the surveillance footage, Orange County detectives questioned and arrested Felker.
Felker was arrested as he left a restaraunt with a femal companion after recieving a tip from Crimeline from someone who told them he would be at that location.
“I think the sex crimes squad is very confident that this is the man. I mean, he has a billboard basically on his arm. The tattoos were there. I think they’re very confident that they have a suspect there in this case,” Jim Solomons of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said. “We got a tip. We got a tip that led us to the southside of Orange County. An individual that told us that this individual would be exiting a restaurant with a female companion. Our felony squad, along with our sex crimes investigators, who pretty much worked this case around the clock, responded to that location and indeed took a man into custody. He’s currently being questioned in connection with the robbery and sexual assault that occurred in the Wal-Mart parking lot yesterday morning.”
So hats off to the quick work of the Orange County police and all who were involved with this quick arrest, and a big, hearty “Fuck You” to the idiot rapist, David Welker.

The vast majority of rape is date rape and involves the presence of alcohol. This isn’t to say that a desire for power and control can’t contribute, but it speaks to the fact that rape is absolutely biologically motivated and any man is capable of it.
Actually, I don’t need swivel to be present. He laid out the facts about rape here. I recommend that those of you convinced that dominance is the motivating factor read it. I might really change the way you look at rape and, if you are women, it is very helpful knowledge.

Really, every type of human interaction has as one of its characteristics power implications, and I use “power” in the purest sense, without any negative connotations, which allows for the fact that love and caring can enter the equation. I’m not downplaying the role of control and dominance, but rape IS about sex. Current research does suggest a relationship between castration and reduced sexual offending, but you’re right in that it’s not a 100% fix. Geez, maybe we need a thread about this in the forums.

Date rape, or aquaintance rape, which is the majority, is about sex. Stranger rape, such as our guy in this story, is about power and control and degrading the victim. There are different kinds of rape, a blanket statement doesn’t cover all of it. There are also exceptions to both those rules. I was always told it was all about power and control, sometimes it’s not.

There are different types of rape, as Carol mentioned. They are all about sex, however, some are characterised by control or degredation far more than others.
But, just to clarify, the comment about his level of attractiveness was a glib remark. It wasn’t very serious at all.

Most of these POS are cowards, (ie. dad kills all of his kids, but just can’t manage to off himself) should they see one of their own kind swinging and the buzzards picking their bones, I think they may just think twice.
There is no “real punishment” - However, there is free education, food, tv, medical care - lots more offered in jail than in society. If all that stopped for certain offenses, like this one, and the offender was hanged, killed by the victim, or his treatment revisited on him, then I truly believe you would see a drop in these types of violent crimes. You wouldn’t hear the cops or courts saying - “I think they wanted to get caught.” Clearly, they would not want to be caught if there were some true consequences.
