Ashley Parnell Killed Skyler Roininen

Tulsa, OK – Ashley Lorene Parnell, 25, is accused of murdering Skyler Roininen, the 23-month-old son of her boyfriend, Robert Roininen. Police say that Skyler died of a Jon-Benet sized eight-inch skull fracture caused by Parnell early on the morning of MarchMarch reviewsMarch reviews 27. Skyler died the next day. And of course, Ashley has a Myspace.

On the evening of March 26, everything seemed fine, according to Parnell, Robert Roininen, and Parenll’s grandmother, Nina Fries. Parnell smoked some weed before bed, she said. And the next morning, March 27, Skyler went from being a perfectly normal toddler who wanted his diaper changed to being unresponsive with an eight inch skull fracture during the time that Parnell went to get a drink of water. 911 was called about 6:00 a.m., and Skyler died the next day of a seemingly unexplainable giant crack in the head.

That’s her story and she’s sticking to it.

Police didn’t buy it. There was the problem of marijuana in the house, admittedly Parnell’s. Fries, the grandmother, says she “doesn’t approve” of that stuff in her house, but there it was anyway. Oh, and the rodent droppings in baby Skyler’s bed. And the bugs. Why is it that these stories have the bugs? I hate bugs. But bugs, rodents, filth, drugs, dead baby, clueless adults… we’ve seen this before. It’s like the Six Steps Of Dead Kid, isn’t it?

Ashely Parnell was arrested Monday and charged with Skyler’s murder. She is being held on $750,000 bond in the Tulsa County Jail.

    i don't understand why she got blamed for the child's death. there were two other adults in the house and another child. why is it her fault?
    i'm not trying to stand up for "baby killer's" or anything, but this article bothered me enough for me to go and try to find out as much as i could... which isn't a lot.
    she went to trial in june sometime, but i couldn't find the outcome of that anywhere. i looked at her myspace page that seems to be being handled by her sister...
    it just seems to me that police haven't looked into investigating the other people in the house very much.
    why?
    is it because of parnell's previous run-ins with the law?
    i mean- it's been 8 months since this happened and she is still claiming that she is innocent. don't people eventually break down or screw up their story? she seems to have been pretty consistent throughout.
    i mean, maybe she DID do it... but something seems off here to me.

    I don't live there anymore, but I grew up in Jenks, OK. In fact, for several years, I was best friends with Ashley's aunt/sister. Ashley was adopted by her grandmother, Nina, so her sister is her aunt. I don't have as much contact with the family anymore, but I can tell you that Ashley not only has one child of her own, she has two. She gave one of them up. The other is now in the custody of the sister/aunt. He was in the house the night that the toddler died, though.

    Ok, go to www.oscn.net Use a docket search for Tulsa County. Using JUST Nina Parnell, Clifford Parnell and Ashley Parnell (each individual searches) see how many violent charges/injunctions etc; you find. Not to include the bogus check charges, larceny etc there are also. Told you I know this family well...and in this case blood isn't thicker than water.

    Also, Ashley only has one child...this is a very dysfunctional family and it's doesn't surprise me that the place was described as it was. I could tell you so much about this family you wouldn't believe. But there's not enough space here. Ashley is a product of her environment...but if she falls back on that as an excuse it's just a cop out on her part.

    I know this family very well. If you check out www.kjrh.com you will find the affidavits that got her arrested in the first place. She was adopted by her grandmother Nina years ago. Her father's name is Clifford Parnell and violence has been in this family for years if you wil check the Oklahoma Court records. If you will also read the affidavit posted on KJRH news you will see that YES her child was in her Great Grandmother's bedroom sleeping with her. I do believe Ashley will be found guilty and it's a shame....but this girl has been in trouble off and on for years. It was just a matter of time

    Were Ashley's children in the rodent-infested, filthy home where Skyler/Skylar was killed? If not, why not? Does she in fact have custody of those children? If not, why not?

    I'm interested to see how this case plays out as well. We at DD, not being a jury in a courtroom, have no problem assessing the available evidence and making a value judgment on a person's parenting skills at the very least.

    In fact, we generally find that if a person is charged, they are very often guilty, particularly when stories change and it takes several days to charge a suspect. In no way does that mean we are assuming that Ashley has been convicted - we're well aware she has yet to stand trial. But our record speaks for itself - I can't think of a single case Morbid or I have posted on the front page in which the accused ended up being acquitted of all charges. So to assume that we know nothing about assessing evidence, interpreting journalistic spin, and coming to a logical and generally correct conclusion is, to use your term, ignorant.

    Pretty sure she has two kids of her own that have no reports of child abuse. And although she's been charged, she hasn't been convicted. And the story doesn't seem to add up. There's always a chance that she didn't do it. I'd like to see how this plays out, but to assume she's already a convicted murderer is ignorant.

    And let's take a vote here - how many of us really believe that pot made this woman kill that baby? I have never heard of someone smoking pot, and flying into a violent rage. People who smoke pot, in my experience, giggle a lot and get the munchies. So......the only reason Ashley could possibly have had for killing the kid is if she had the munchies, and was planning to eat him. Maybe she was. After all, the kid would probably have tasted better than the bugs and rat droppings.
