Denver - The 3-month-old baby of 27-year-old Katreice Trujillo (Myspace Profile) was brought to the Children’s Hospital on Friday, suffering from seizures. The police were summoned after doctors determined the child had ingested meth. The case is now being investigated by the Denver Police and Missing and Exploited Persons unit and Trujillo was arrested on allegations of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury charges.
Police have not stated exactly how the infant got meth in it’s system or where. However, they have stated that no meth lab was found in the home and Denver Police Spokesperson Sonny Jackson made this comment:
“This is not a situation where the child accidentally was crawling on the floor while they were cooking meth. This was the kind of situation where truly the child did ingest the drug”
Luckily for Trujillo, she is no stranger to the police or the local legal system. Her lengthy criminal record include arrests in Denver, Lakewood, Brighton, Thornton and Northglenn for harassment, assault and driving with a suspended license. Her Myspace shows pictures of an infant as well as an older boy. Other pictures show a man labeled as her husband. Others show the size of her big rack.
Notice that they have charged her with child abuse and not child endangerment. This leads me to believe that investigators feel this was a deliberate act. I’m sure more information will come to light, especially exactly how this kid got meth in it. I also fully expect more of the same with friends and family stating what an awesome mother she is and how all of this is just bullshit.

Because we all know that shaking the kid is such a helpful calming technique.

Because we don’t have the ice problem here like the States,the ‘meth’ that most kids ingest in Oz is methadone - you know, that heroin replacement therapy for fucking junkies. I have no sympathy, and gutt’n status anger for drug addicts in their mishaps with their kids. The powers that be need to grow bigger balls and remove these kids from using parents before the damage is done, not after.Illicit drugs or kids is an either/or choice to be made by parents - or made by statutory authorities for them - there are plenty of loving, capable family only too willing to raise children safely and lovingly.

Apr 5, 2008 at 9:06 pm -Bornagainpagan, in about the last 12 to 18 months, we’ve seen a huge increase in crystal meth in the inner city of Melbourne. I used to work in a community health service in Fitzroy, and I’m still very close to a number of the workers there, and they’ve been telling me that the parkies (junkies and homeless alco’s who lived in the park) we treat are starting to become far more unpredictable and violent since they’ve moved from the horse to the crystal meth. It’s a seriously bad development.
