Homestead, FL – The Amber Alert hit the airwaves and internet on SundaySunday reviews night. Two little girls had gone missing from their Homestead apartment. Vanessa Rivas, 3, and Frida Gonzalez, 6, were nowhere to be found. The suspect was a man staying in the family’s home, known only as “Juan”. On Monday, “Juan” and the children were found near a Hialeah Gardens elementary school after being spotted by a woman who had seen the Amber Alert.

Vanessa and FridaFrida reviews appeared unharmed when found, but on examination at a local hospital, they were found to have been assaulted and raped by an adult male. The girls said that “Juan” had told them he was taking them to the park while their mother was in the shower. Frida Gonzalez reported that “Juan” hit her in the head and choked her with a necklace before raping her.

“Juan” has been identified as Lindoro Alvarado, a Mexican national who has been staying with the girls’ family for several weeks. The girls’ mother says she had told Alvarado he could not leave the apartment with the girls because it was raining. But then she left the girls with him to go shower, and Alvarado took the children at about 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Family members searched for Alvarado, Frida and Vanessa for eight hours before calling police around 9:00 that evening.

When caught, Alvarado gave police several different names. That and his illegal status made it difficult to get him identified so he could be charged. Now Lindoro Alvarado faces multiple charges, including two counts of kidnapping a child under the age of 13, two counts of child abuse, and three counts of sexual battery on a minor under the age of 12. Alvarado is being held in the Miami-Dade County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
