The only reason you and I need a gun in our home is because we live in a country chock-FULL of guns. That’s why we have a MUCH higher homicide rate per capita than any other developed country. Despite the fact that our overall crime rate is the same. It is the same argument that countries use to develop and maintain a nuclear arsenal.

How do you dispute the fact, when a town made all of its homeowners keep guns, the crime rates dropped dramatically? I will have to go through each and every thread on here as to find the name of that town and get my statistics. I and some other posters had covered this in another thread on here.

How do you dispute the fact when, other countries have disarmed their citizens, their crime rates increased by an unbelievable amount? - again in the same thread - but I’m thinking someone said something like 200% crime rate increase. And, again, I will have to find my facts to support this argument.

And if we remove guns from our society, people like myself, which are law abiding citizens, for the most part (not counting speeding or tuning the radio in my car), the criminals will still have guns, as they do not acquire their guns as I do - buying a permit and purchasing them legally. I certainly do not want the criminals or the police to be the only ones who have guns - as the police are many times, far worse than a lot of criminals.

And I have explained vaguely many times, that sometimes things happen to women because a man is simply stronger than her - but if she has a gun she can stop her attacker. Are you suggesting that a perfect world would be one with no guns, so that woman can be defenseless against a stronger man to be raped, abused or murdered with his bare hands?

A lot of rapists, do not use any type of weapon, just there sheer overpowering strength. Why would you want to leave your mom or sister or daughter defenseless against that type of attack? GUNS DO HAVE A PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY!

When guns no longer are needed, all raping, abuse, and murder will have been completely eradicated - the crimes must be stopped before citizens are expected to leave themselves vulnerable to such violent attacks.

I don’t ever see those types of crimes being eradicated - so in turn, I don’t feel anyone should ever be expected to be defenseless against violent crime.

Kreutz, 54, died Wednesday at a hospital, two days after he was struck.

“I don’t claim to understand it,” police Chief Mike Paillou said at a news conference. He said detectives are following up on leads but asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. He did not know what provoked them - “fear, confusion, being young?”

It’s believed there was about $5 in the tip jar.

Family members weren’t surprised Kreutz went after the thieves.

“He was just caring, loving, witty and extremely loyal,” said his youngest brother, Chris Kreutz, 42. “That’s how my brother is. I would have done the same thing.”

    Thanks CATLADY.

Waiting for official news of charges, so Morbid and Imp can get those pics up and the shaming can start.

I think I missed the live press conference, but from what I can gather they were from Atlanta, GA visiting friends. Probably explains why no one could immediately identify them. One of them was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter I think.

The name of that town (and state) is Kennesaw, Georgia. And the reason they give for the decrease in crime, is that if a criminal knows for a fact that a person has a gun, he is less likely to try his luck in that home. He would rather go to a house in another city where the chances of the homeowner being unarmed are greater, and therefore diminish the risk to himself. Common sense. Even criminals have it to a certain degree it seems…..

BUT, I believe everyone responsible person should have a gun in their home. Escpecially, single women with children or even without.

on the left panel of that link above you can view the news conference.

The chief said the male suspect apparently got a short haircut since the theft.

Gary Poisson, who was born in the St. Louis area and moved away as a teen, said his son spent the past several weeks on a road trip with his girlfriend of three months.

He also said the couple were arrested in a theft last month at a suburban Cincinnati shopping mall. uggggg thats where I’m from not too many malls about anymore… makes me wonder what they ripped off - gas isn’t cheap - he sounds like a spoiled brat.

The father said his son called Thursday to ask for money to rent an apartment in St. Louis. He said his son was thinking about enrolling in Washington University. Aaron Poisson last year had dropped out of Liberty University, a Virginia Bible college.

    ————–
Kreutz, an owner and the president of the Holiday Inn Southwest & Viking Conference Center in Sunset Hills, died at 1:37 a.m. Wednesday. Preliminary autopsy results showed “massive head trauma” to the front and back of the head, Paillou said.

The chief said his detectives believe Kreutz was struck by the driver’s door and then hit the pavement as the car backed out of a parking space.

memorial fund / funeral arrangements and photo http://www.stltoday.com/stltod.....enDocument

he lived at the holiday inn and apparently had no wife or children - 9 siblings wow ! - my prayers are with his family !!

Wash U. is both highly selective and expensive, so this kid is either a high scorer on entrance exams with an excellent transfer transcript or wealthy enough to not need financial aid. Even the high scorers don’t often grab a full ride there. I think the kid was blowing smoke up his dad’s wallet.

“He used to be a polite kid,” Gary Poisson said. “All we know is he got involved with this girl and everything changed.”

From the article that CatLady posted. His parents really gave him some moral backbone. Meets a Cooter-Trap and runs to the bad side with glee. I wonder how a parent can teach good values and make them stick. What can parents do? It seems some of these “good kids” are good only as long as they aren’t tempted. That is to say, not good kids at all.

I knew he was a rich kid from his stance at the counter. Look at the ease, the entitlement in the way he stands there. It oozes with “I’m a handsome, wealthy kid with everything I want always given to me.”

I hope he wants a rod up the ass.

Gee, you’d think eventually one of these parents would come up with something more original than: “Girlfriend/boyfriend made him/her do it.”
    What a crock….

Just like the lady who sued McDonalds for their hot coffee will always be a mythical creature of pettiness and ignorance, this man will be an iconic example of sacrificing yourself for noble principles.

Off-topic, but I wanted to address this particular part of the quote since I have done a lot of research on the Hot Coffee lawsuit for a course I teach. The “mythical” part of the quote is accurate, in that most of the conclusions people have drawn about this particular lawsuit (such as that the woman was petty, ignorant, and greedy–because coffee is “supposed to be hot!”) is exactly that–a myth. Not based in fact. The woman in the hot coffee lawsuit was handed a cup with a lid that was only placed on top, not pushed down to “snap lock” as it should have been. She sustained third-degree burns and required skin grafts, and originally asked only to have the McDonald’s help her meet her insurance deductible, which they refused. That particular McDonald’s hs been cited by OSHA 3 times for having beverages at temperatures that exceeded the maximum safety limit for employees to work around. In much the same way that landlords are supposed to make sure that hot water heaters don’t operate at a high enough temperature to scald children in the tub, restaurants are supposed to make sure that hot beverages machines don’t operate at a high enough temperature to scald employees and customers. Especially given the high rate of teenage fast-food workers, who are often new to the workplace and not always careful and safety conscious. The jury’s decision was not about rewarding a greedy woman–it was about compensating her for some pretty serious injuries, and about sending a message that no employer is exempt from adhering to workplace safety rules.

Now, back on topic: Liberty University? Holy Schnikies! That’s the one started by Jerry Falwell.

Aaron Poisson was arrested on March 6, if you google his name you will find the page (Community Press).

I won’t post her name as I may be incorrect, but a girl got arrested the same day, robbing the same location as Aaron. I assume this is the girlfriend whose name we don’t yet know?

Probably a prior arrest, for both of them. I believe, I read in one of the links, that the dad of the boy had said the two had gotten in trouble for that very thing, a little while back.

Ya - I saw another article and it was definitely Feb. 8 when he was arrested, so it’s gotta be the right Aaron, and if the girl is the same one, I guess that’s up to our imagination until the name officially breaks. The bottom of this link says they were arrested on 2/8.

I used to live in Kennesaw for a year. It was only an apartment, though, so I don’t think the law really applied to me. However, if I ever buy a house in Georgia I pray like hell that I’ll find one in Kennesaw because it’s a very safe place to live.

So long as I don’t have to go through the perimeter into Atlanta I’d be perfectly happy. lol
