Richard Close Says No To High Gas Prices

Richard Close

Ocala, FL  –  Richard Close, 77, was fed up with the high cost of gasoline and he wasn’t gonna take it anymore.  At least, that’s what he told police.   But instead of taking it out on the gas pumps with a ball bat, or writing a letter to the newspaper, Close was arrested for beating his 74-year-old wife Betty, who had the audacity to need dialysis and thus had to be driven back and forth to the hospital.

Close says that the stress of working as a security guard on top of his wife’s illness got the better of him.  He says that he drinks “two beers a day” to help with the financial and work stress, and that he lost his temper when he drank a few more and his wife told him to stop.  He’s sorry, he says.  He got three bills totaling $1600 in the mail in the days before he lost it, he says.  Social Security doesn’t cover their needs, he says. He’s worked seven years as a security guard to cover costs – Betty’s medical treatment is covered by insurance and Medicare.  But what right does she have to tell him how many beers he can have? Close wants to know.  And his wife being sick since December and needing dialysis treatments made their gas bill go up, and he was flat pissed.  He doesn’t know what he’ll do if Betty leaves him, he says.  LifeLIFE reviewsLIFE reviews wouldn’t be worth living.

Well, that mean old fart will just have to make do without a doormat, says Betty Close.  Her account states that Richard Close had been drinking, and when he drinks he gets angry. They argued and he grabbed Betty by her dialysis arm, the one with the shunt implanted it in less than three months ago, the one that she gets needles stuck in every day or two. “I can break every bone in your body,” he said, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. She said he choked her and pushed her down.  She’sShe reviewsShe reviews moving to Illinois with her sister, Betty says, so screw that wifebeating bastard.

Richard Close is charged with aggravated battery and battery on a person over 65.  He’s being held in the Marion County jail and he would really appreciate it if someone would hurry up and bail him out because he “doesn’t have anyone to turn to”.

Thanks, Ells!

“doesn’t have anyone to turn to”.

SHOULD read, “doesn’t DESERVE anyone to turn to.” Bastard!

Look at that weird shirt they photographed him in. Pink and white stripes are not exactly what I think of as “elder wear.” I swear I believe there is a Perp Dress-up Fun Kit out there for deputies to enjoy.

Wish they had given the evil old bastard the tutu.

Maybe it’s just my screen, but it looks like orange and white stripes to me.

Could we compromise on melon? Melon or orange sounds like the “Seaside Perp’s Day Out” costume in the Deputy Fun Kit. It comes with very short white shorts and a sandpail and shovel for the perp to hold while being photographed. Also sand to insert between his toes.

I’d like to point out that this guy, even at his age, has the Perp Chin.

Just like Anthony Tyrone Terrell above, that chin is up in an “I don’t deserve to be here” faux-badass jaw jut. He thinks he’s the victim here. He is wrong.

I believe that it takes a man who is a real COWARD to beat up on a woman. Add ‘ailing woman’, and it makes him that much more of a coward. She left him after this incident, right? That’s probably why he assaulted her – a simple case of penis envy. He realized that she has more balls than he ever will, and he couldn’t take it.

That pic… that indignant look. LMAO.
“Yeah I beat the bitch- running up and down the road wasting my gas. I’m 77 and still can’t retire cause of her dumb ass.
    What an asshat.
He reminds me of my papa. Now there was a real son of a bitch. Yes, there are skeletons in my famillies closet.

Liquor is known (just, quietly, like – don’t tell anyone) to infuse ‘dutch courage’ in young and old dudes alike. Sober, he’s moaning that he has no supports and that he can’t open the lid of his prison jello.

What’s it with “I can break every bone in your body” to a frail and sick old biddy? Definitely a cranky, self righteous, cowardly mean drunk. At least now he he can save on gas and drink at home and punch himself in the face when he gets ’stressed’.

He does have that arrogant look of “she got what she deserved – I had the right to – I shouldn’t even be here” – what an OLD POS.

I would have to agree – he’s probably been a mean bastard all of his life. I don’t believe that a man and woman could live together for most of their lives – happy and abuse free. Then, when his life long partner becomes sick, he suddenly becomes abusive to her – because she’s costing him a little too much in gas. He’s a mean ole turd and has been IMHO.

However, I have to ask one question, ONLY because his wife left him after this incidence – If this was not the first time, why did she now leave, after this many years? Was this the first time that she ever felt like he really might kill her? Possibly, it had been verbal abuse until now.

I really doubt it, but I guess it is possible, he just lost it. Most people her age, are “set in their ways” and I can’t see at 74 years old – just now stopping the abuse, by moving out. If she has enough “self-preservation” to move, now – wouldn’t she have left, when she were younger, stronger, healthier, and able to provide for herself, if this type of abuse had always been present her life?

At her age, that shows a tremendous amount of courage, to pick up and leave everything you have known for so many years. Kudos to her for having the strength to leave. I hope other women, young and old will follow her example – YOU DON’T HAVE TO TAKE THAT SHIT – at any age.

I can’t say I know of any other grandma types that would have made this big move. I am very happy she found the strength and resolve, to leave his mean ass – whether this was the first time or had abuse been what she has known her whole life.
