Jamie Bolin Was Sorry

PURCELL, Oklahoma – We posted an article about this, back in 2006, but it was before we changed the site over. But Kevin Ray Underwood was charged with killing 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin. He lured the-girl into his apartment, killed her and sexually assaulted and mutilated her body. He was caught a couple days later when investigators found her body in a plastic container in his bedroom closet. The goal was cannabalism. Anyway, he is in court right now undergoing his trial, and jurors got to see his videotaped confession. The crime was pretty heinous in itself, the girls reported last words are tough.
In the tape, a soft-spoken Underwood told FBI agents that he hit her over the head with a wooden cutting board while she was watching television and playing with his pet rat. When asked what happened after he hit her, he stated “That’s something that’s haunted me forever since it happened,” he said. “She started yelling, I’m sorry,’ which I’m like, What is she sorry for? She didn’t do anything wrong. It’s me. I’m the one that should be sorry.“‘
He also stated that he regretted hitting her immediately after he did it, but it was too late to turn back. So the regretful Underwood did what anyone does when they feel bad about hitting someone in the head with a cutting board. He smothered her with his hands, sexually assaulted her lifeless body, draped the corpse over the bathtub and began sawing her neck with a decorative dagger, nearly cutting her head off. Yup.
No one is denying he did this, but their defense is that he started having fantasies of eating people after he started taking Lexapro, the antidepressant. The only reason why he picked a kid was because he knew they would be easier to contain. That they would not be able to fight back.
At the end of the videotaped confession, Underwood appeared to become tired and then became physically sick.

i’ve followed this case since Jamie went missing and was horrified when she was found the way she was. I hope this bastard pukes every day for the rest of his miserable life, because I’m not gonna lie, that child’s last words make me wanna hurl, too.

Not surprisingly, the jury took only 30 minutes to determine that Kevin Underwood, 28, killed Jamie Rose Bolin in April 2006. On with the penalty.

I may be way off target here, but if the girls FIRST reaction to being hit was to start saying “I’m sorry”, maybe her parents need to be investigated for child abuse, too…That sounds like the classic reaction of an abused child to me….most children woould have just started screaming, “Stop! Please stop!” , not “I’m sorry”

Yes, this story is a sucky one. Her father had just had a talk with her explaining why she couldn’t go into strange people’s apartments — specifically this guy — just because he had a cool pet rat. When asked if she understood him, he started crying and said that he really thought she had.
I don’t think there’ve been any allocations of prior abuse in her home, Angel.
Look, she’s a kid in a place where she knows she’s not supposed to be, and she’s petting his rat, and he bops her one. Perhaps the “I’m sorry” was that she thought she was doing something wrong with the rat, or that she shouldn’t have been holding it or something. Who knows? But I’ve not read anything that cast doubts on her situation at home.

I think this is one of the worst, sickest cases in the last couple years… I’ve followed it from the start.
Why do so many worthless POS murderes think they can get away with placing the blame on some medicine. My husband and I have both been on Lexapro in the past. And, nope, never made us want to kill & eat anyone… did help with the depression, though.

The “I’m sorry” to me seems to be more of a ’she thought she may have been doing something she shouldn’t with his rat, etc.’ type statement… I mean, your a child and someone comes up behind you and knocks the fuck out of you with something heavy, all the child awareness training in the world is going to go right out of your conscious thought, literally…. Think about battered adults and how they are unable to fight back because of the absolute shock of what is happening to them… This was a lil kid… I missed this story when it first happened, is my first time hearing about it…
You know what, this one, with this picture and those words, got to me today… It’s like, FUCK I just want to cry my eyes out and rip the fucker to shreds at the same time…

Oh god you guys, this one absolutely slayed me. I KNOW in my heart that it was fear that brought the “I’m sorry” plea.
This is my biggest heartache, the thought of a child in fear.
I have always said that when I get to the pearly gates that will be my question. “Why allow a child to be afraid?”

I can’t get this case out of mind. I can’t imagine what her parents must be going through…to know the gory details of your little girl’s last few minutes, to know that she was terrified. Beyond comprehension.

I wish her father had gotten her her own rat. It was too much of a temptation not to go see it. I loved animals, too, when I was a kid. I guess she was home alone and the nice guy came by and she really wanted to see the rat and have company. I’m just speculating here.

It just really tugs on the heart strings (and makes you MORE sad) when you see a photo of the child/victim…

Jerkoff Jamie committed a pre-fantasised, premeditated act of horror that would have echoed through the Force, if it existed outside of George’s mind, that is. When are modern day cannibals going to realise – we DON’T taste like chicken! Or if so compelled, why not chew on yourself – he has two hands of ‘finger’ food for chrissakes.

After 8 1/2 hours of deliberation, a jury has recommended that Kevin Underwood be put to death for the murder of Jamie Bolin.
A judge will formally sentence Underwood on April 3rd.

A judge has formally sentenced Kevin Underwood to death by lethal injection for killing Jamie Bolin.
As the judge gave his ruling, Underwood showed no emotion.
