Duceliz Diaz And Daughter Were Murdered

5-2-08 – Albert Perez, 27, has been charged with killing Duceliz and her daughter, Kayla, and staging the murder to look like suicide. More details at end of article.
Bernville, PA – Initially thought to be a murder-suicide, Duceliz Diaz, 22, and her daughter, 5-year-old Kayla, were found hanging in the second-floor apartment where they lived in Bernville on Jan 15th. Now, a month after their bodies were discovered, investigators are now claiming this as a double homicide. Family members became worried when Diaz’s sister received an e-mail from her sister less than two hours before the bodies were found. The message said Diaz was going to do something that would forever change the family, expressed love for family members and said Diaz would be watching over them. Relatives immediately went to the apartment, and kicked open the door.
The family of Duceliz had disputed the murder-suicide claim for the beginning, stating that she was incapable of harming her daughter. They stated that she had not been depressed, even though she had just went through a breakup with her boyfriend. The ruling was determined after the completion of a series of elaborate tests, including reenactments of the hangings using life-like dummies.
Also, interesting to sidenote about this family…Duceliz Diaz’s brother killed his ex-girlfriend, another woman and two children in 2001 by pushing their car into the path of a train. Thanks for the story, Ells.

I got that same feeling when I looked at that pic. I have a zillion of the same type of pic of me and my daughter. Its just a goofing off having fun pic.
I’m glad her family didn’t give up. It’s jut so sad.

Wow, this is very interesting. I am wondering if there is any more information on this case yet? And I agree with Kathy; thank goodness she had a diligent family.

must be a recent photo as you dont loose all them teeth until your at least 5 unless they were pulled by a dentist cause of a fall / decay. so very sad this had to happen – are they pointing fingers at the brother or boyfriend … whats happening with the investigation ?

Unbelievable.
The amount of restraint some of those officers transporting him must have not to get him alone in a room for 5 minutes is something else. I couldn’t do it.
His intake accident report would read – suicide via asphyxiation with bed sheet. Case closed.
One less monster roaming the country side.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. If I were a cop, for cases like this one and Rowan, Alijah, Riley, etc. our “accidental death of inmates” would drastically increase.

Perez initially told police he had not seen or talked to Duceliz for two months before their deaths. But they found semen in her panties and body, which they linked through DNA to Perez. Troopers said Perez took a Sony Playstation from the apartment after the murders. They said the video game had been a source of conflict between the couple.
Note to self: Next time I kill a girlfriend and her daughter, make sure to use a condom when boinking the corpse. I guess we know who ultimately won the Playstation argument…

Miodoll, we do tend to be pretty rude and crude here on the Demon, but usually it’s the perpetrators who are on the receiving end, not the victims. I can’t speak for Dex–I don’t know that poster–but your sister deserves no scorn. I extend my condolences to your family. I hope you are able to find some small bit of comfort in knowing that Albert is behind bars tonight.

as for Dex, I don’t think he was trying to insult the victim here, I think he was incinuating that the perp in this case was too fucking dumb because his obvious lies and the evidence didn’t match up (thankfully); which is how I took Dex’s post. Sorry for your loss. I blogged this story because of the picture alone. As a parent myself, these particular cases get to me a bit more than others. I cannot imagine what happened that day, and for the first time in a long time in regards to these stories we blog her everyday, I am not sure I ever do. But I am glad they caught the prick who did it, and I hope he ends up getting what he deserves. I know that wont give you guys any closure, but at least that particular chapter of this ordeal can end.

I agree the picture does speak volumes and is extremely heartbreaking!
Miodoll, my condolences for your loss, tragedy on this level is life altering. We had a similar situation in our family in the mid 80’s, we still hurt, but time does heal.
