Norman, OK – Donna Louise Riles, 36, was a hardworking single mother. She was a former foster parent and a daycare teacher who spent her time taking care of other people and not enough time taking care of herself. So when she went on a telephone chat line last weekend and met Tony Benae Smith, 26, Donna Riles thought she deserved a little down time with a charming guy. Except that charming guy wasn’t so charming after all. On Monday night, police say, Smith shot Riles twice in her bedroom and left her twelve year old daughter to clean up the mess.
Donna’s sister Audrey Phillips says that Riles met Smith Saturday through a telephone dating line. “She was lonely and just fell into the wrong hands.†Authorities say that Smith and Riles spent time together over the weekend, and that he was at Riles’ home on Monday. Other family has said they believe Riles and Smith first met via an internet dating service.
Phillips says that Riles’ daughter was upstairs in her room on Monday night when the shooter came in told the girl that “her mother was being selfish. He asked for a CD and the music was turned up real loud,†said Phillips. “That was unusual because Donna didn’t like loud music. And then [the daughter] heard the shots.â€
Phillips said the man asked Riles’ daughter to go with him, but she refused. He then took the keys and drove off in the Riles’ car. The daughter found her mother “sitting by the nightstand with blood coming down†and immediately called 911, reporting that her mother had been shot in the head.
An hour later, an off-duty police officer working as a security guard in Oklahoma City spotted Smith walking near a hotel, carrying a gun. The officer called for backup and Smith was arrested, carrying the murder weapon – a .25-caliber revolver. Riles’ daughter identified Smith from a lineup. Smith denied knowing Riles, but said “he was going to die for his sins,” according to a police affidavit.
Smith has a fairly extensive criminal record in Texas for assault and “retaliation”, but had no record in Oklahoma. Authorities say Smith was a drifter, staying in hotels or with people he met. Smith is being held in Cleveland County on murder charges.

What can anyone say about this? One wrong move and the woman is sitting by the nightstand with blood coming down. I bet she thought that having her 12 year old there would stop any funny business. Instead the kid is darned lucky that Prince Charmless didn’t kidnap her in her mother’s own car.
Now what happens to the girl? Passed around a huge extended family like that baby that got beat up and killed? Being a kid is hard nowadays.

What happened to the good ol’ days when you met a “nice guy” at the laundry mat, or church, or the grocery store? And what the HELL happened to “not bringing home the new boyfriend around your kid until you knew him WAY better and he had passed your older brother’s screening tests?” Just exactly how well can you get to know someone via a phone conversation? I just don’t get it!!!!! When are women going to realize that “Prince Charming” was make believe? Society has changed from the way our parents met. A woman can NEVER be too careful when it comes to her life and her children’s lives. Background checks are as easy as online dating. If a woman can pay for an online dating service or a phone dating service, she should exercise some good judgement and pay for a background check as well. If a man doesn’t come recommended via your best friend, Check him out!! And I don’t mean the way he looks. And even those that are introduced to you by a friend, it can’t hurt to look up their history. Think about this…..if a company does a background check on a potential new employee, why wouldn’t you want to do the same thing before bringing a stranger into your LIFE?

They are on the low side, especially the one on the right. The whole dude is listing to the right. I wonder why he has a bullet-proof vest on — afraid the 12-year-old will come after him — or is this a way to weight him down and make sure he doesn’t hide a pen up his sleeve as a weapon? Or are they dressing him like a caveman armadillo in order to break his spirit through ridicule?

What a price to pay. I am not condoning it but I remember a time when there was little threat of AIDS and an evening of drinking, dancing and partying at the local club could lead to some pretty good sex in a one night stand. Good times!
Maybe times are bad but I can still see the hook-ups at the club. You just have to wrap it up. Be smart. I mean there have always been crazy fucks out there. Is it worse or reported more? Is it worse or is it we have information at our fingertips.
