Denise Thomson Blows .415 With Kid In Car

and the kid is a ward of the state, even.

Denise Thomson

Omaha, NE - She should have been in a coma. Denise Thomson, 25, was cruising down I-80 on Thursday afternoon when police dispatchers started getting the phone calls. An impaired driver was weaving down the interstate. There might be a kid in the back, the callers said. When officers managed to get her pulled over after a few miles of low-speed chase, Denise blew a .415, five times the legal limit.

Actually, she nlew a little bit higher, and officers didn’t believe a conscious person could be that drunk. So they took her to jail, where her blood alcohol content was tested. Sure enough, .415. Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis believes that is the highest blood-alcohol reading he’s seen in his career. Amazingly, this is Thomson’s first DUI arrest. Obviously she maintains really well at lower levels.

Here’s the kicker: An 8-year-old girl in the vehicle is a ward of the Department of Health and Human Services. The child was belted in, unharmed, and was later turned over to her foster parents. Thomson works for Beneficial Behavior Health in Omaha, which – get this – provides transportation for DHHS. So she was driving a foster child as part of her job. Niiice. DHHS has suspended their contract with Beneficial pending an investigation into why their drivers are hammered.

A Blood alcohol content (BAC) of .35 is equivalent “to surgical anesthesia”, according to the University of Texas. At a BAC of .415, she should have stopped breathing. It’s almost unheard-of for a BAC that high to be conscious. One more drink might have killed Denise, and subsequently the child she was transporting. I guess the obvious joke here is that you can be legally comatose and still work with foster kids in Nebraska.

Thomson only had to post $200 surety to get out of jail in Sarpy County, where her bond was set at $2000 on a single DUI. She’sShe reviewsShe reviews home, probably drunk, and I hope she reads this. Hey, Denise – nice eyebrows!

Thanks, RubyRuby reviewsRuby reviews, for another great tip :)

MovieLady 2 What the fuck are you doing? I don't care what MovieLady 1 has done, this goddamn story has nothing to do with her lifestyle. Sounds like someone trying to take the blame off this drunkin bitch, Diana? So her ass got beat up and you know a different goddamn story about the engagement. Frankly who gives a shit. The fact of the matter. An irresponsible alcoholic endangered the life of a child. There is no damned excuse for it. Her stupid ass is damn lucky she didn't kill anyone.....this time. Your friend or family member is a drunk. That's the only thing you should be bitching about.
  • movieladyII
As to movielady I am a friend of the family and I for one know the whole story of the engagement and why it was called off...ask to see the pictures of the blackeyes ripped clothes and bruises all over her body. Or the stained furniture because her ex-fiance threw things and broke bottles of beer all over her. Her ex-fiance is more of a raging drunk than I have ever seen in my lifetime probably one of the worst people I have ever met in my life. Nice to your face but has no problem beating a girl just because another guy looked at her or said hi to an old friend...real nice family member movielady. Ask movielady how many times her family member lost his license due to dui convictions and how many drug offenses has he been in jail for. Also she was never been hospitalzed for DT not once so I just wonder where they had gotten that information. Movielady until you know the whole truth but then again you are a part of that family so fiction to them is just as good as good as the truth. Just remember movie lady if we could even call you a lady there is an old saying that goes "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". And I know for a fact there is only one of the family members that may live in a glass house and honey it isn't you!!!

I am just flabbergasted. I looked it up and under Nebraska law, this is considered a misdemeanor. This is totally insane. Just the fact that she was transporting a ward of the state in this condition I would think would elevate the charge to a felony. After all, they will plea bargain it down no matter what.

Oh well, anyone looking for "good" transportation to run the kids or grandkids around???????
  • WryBread
One year in jail because she was lucky enough not to kill someone this time? She'll be out and will kill someone sooner or later, that we can take bets on.

I got into a drunk stranger's car the other day (long story) and rode about 30 feet before I hopped out fast. It was terrifying, like riding on water in a boat with no boat.

Denise was formally charged by the judge yesterday (2/20/08) with Negligent child abuse, DUI and 2 traffic violations (driving over the center line and driving on the shoulder of the road-these 2 charges were both within seconds of each other). She is looking at more than 1 year in jail, fines and suspension of her license.

It seems to me she is getting off way too easy as this child she was escorting on behalf of the state has to deal with a life time of trauma over the whole situation. Is this the best we can do for traumatizing a young child who is already undergoing the trauma of being in foster care as the mother is a 6-strike DUI driver herself. Way for the state (via a contractor) to step in and help huh?
  • MovieLady
This woman is definitely a raging alcoholic as she was engaged to a family member sometime ago. After her 2nd hospitalization for the DT's he broke it off- thank the good lord. It is nothing for her to go through an entire 1.75 of vodka in a day. I am surprised she never got caught sooner.

It would be my guess that she drove to the school to pick up the girl, then to the nearest liquor store where she downed the bottle and then into the car and along her merry way and thankfully into the arms of the local authorities. Thank goodness the child was allright and hopefully will recover from the experience.

And by the way, the childs mother is incarcerated for (of all things), fourth offense drunk driving. How about that for deja vu!

I'm glad Denise will be off the roads for awhile and I am sure that this is not the last we will hear of her. For those who may want to know, she also has the personality of a toad and she does appear in her photo pretty much the same as day to day in spite of the massive amounts of alcohol-because, that is how she is day-to-day. DRUNK!
  • Lisa
I can't imagine somebody could be that drunk and still being able to function, she must have some superhuman immunity to alcohol as like ImpQueen said technically she should have been in a coma. It's difficult for me to even comprehend a 0.45 BAC level. I'm surprised the child was wearing a seat belt. I was almost expecting another case of a child being unbuckled in the back seat while the case of crappy beer is up front strapped. I'm glad the litte girl is still alive, she must have been so scared, no doubt. I'm sure Beneficial isn't too happy now that they'll now be put through DHHS's wringer and have to come up with explanations as to why one of thier employees was five times the legal limit and driving a state ward. Although whoever dropped the child off with this drunk should have noticed that she (the driver, not the girl) was this bad, I mean how difficult can it be given this level of intoxication to not notice that somebody may not in the proper state to drive?

Note to self: Use question mark not period when asking question, dummy ass.
  • thepooh5
.415 = legally dead, I thought. Damn, what a tolerance, to still be driving. I would have to agree with the raging alcoholic assessment.

Like warrman69 asked, who in the hell gave that child to her. They should also face criminal charges. DAMN DAMN AND DOUBLE DAMN.
  • Fliper
.415??? Damn my liver is already having convulsions at the thought of THAT much alcohol. That little girl must have been scared to death and wander how many people it took to pry her out of the seat...
  • WryBread
Wow, the Vampire kid’s bond is soooo much higher. Does not seem right at all. Shit fire, I guess it’s worse for a 19 yr old to fuck a consensual 14 yr old, than for this woman to drive almost comatose drunk with a child?????Fuck that.

That is weird. A child was involved in both situations. I got into a drunk's car the other day (long story) and it was terrify, like riding on water. I leapt out at the first opportunity.
  • Who the hell gave that child to her? Man, she must of reeked of booze.

Someone was watching over that 8 yr old that day! WoW! I get wow'd a lot on Dreamin' Demon.
  • Unamused
She is a raging alcoholic if she can have that much in her and not be comatose or dead.
  • Her public defender will probably use the, “The policeman used a defective breathalyzer”, and that a defense expert must have access to the source code, the secret step-by-step software instructions to help him prove his client’s innocence stating that .415 is an imposible reading for her to be driving.

Which is why it's really good that they did a blood draw when they got her to jail to verify. 'Cause you know their breathalyzers probably don't even go as high as she blew when they first pulled her over.

  • I think that’s her “Hey baby wanna by me a drink?” look.

    I love you man!

As for this woman, .415, unfuckinbelievable, at work on a Thursday afternoon with a minor ward of the state in the car...priceless.
  • The old “WBMean2ME” look on her face....

    O_o
Surgical anesthesia drunk? That is a new one on me!

What kills me is that there is at least one other adult that saw her this shit-faced and actually helped belt that 8 year old into the car with her. 8 year old wards of the state don't just jump into people's cars on their own.
  • WryBread
The old "WBMean2ME" look on her face. Not too drunk to cornrow her eyebrows. I bet that kid was scared.
  • mm_classy
In Texas it's an automatic felony even if it's a first offense if a child is in the car. I think it should be that way every where.
  • austin_lady
She looks rather alert for her BAC. It obviously isn't the 1st time she's been this snockered.

You would think that she would have also been charged with some sort of child endangerment. She's just damned lucky she didn't kill anyone.
  • Hippiepoet
    Holy Shit, that is unbelievable!.
