Denise Thomson Blows .415 With Kid In Car

and the kid is a ward of the state, even.

Omaha, NE - She should have been in a coma. Denise Thomson, 25, was cruising down I-80 on Thursday afternoon when police dispatchers started getting the phone calls. An impaired driver was weaving down the interstate. There might be a kid in the back, the callers said. When officers managed to get her pulled over after a few miles of low-speed chase, Denise blew a .415, five times the legal limit.
Actually, she nlew a little bit higher, and officers didn’t believe a conscious person could be that drunk. So they took her to jail, where her blood alcohol content was tested. Sure enough, .415. Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis believes that is the highest blood-alcohol reading he’s seen in his career. Amazingly, this is Thomson’s first DUI arrest. Obviously she maintains really well at lower levels.
Here’s the kicker: An 8-year-old girl in the vehicle is a ward of the Department of Health and Human Services. The child was belted in, unharmed, and was later turned over to her foster parents. Thomson works for Beneficial Behavior Health in Omaha, which – get this – provides transportation for DHHS. So she was driving a foster child as part of her job. Niiice. DHHS has suspended their contract with Beneficial pending an investigation into why their drivers are hammered.
A Blood alcohol content (BAC) of .35 is equivalent “to surgical anesthesia”, according to the University of Texas. At a BAC of .415, she should have stopped breathing. It’s almost unheard-of for a BAC that high to be conscious. One more drink might have killed Denise, and subsequently the child she was transporting. I guess the obvious joke here is that you can be legally comatose and still work with foster kids in Nebraska.
Thomson only had to post $200 surety to get out of jail in Sarpy County, where her bond was set at $2000 on a single DUI. She’sShe reviews
home, probably drunk, and I hope she reads this. Hey, Denise – nice eyebrows!
