Let’s just hope that the punishment from mom doesn’t lead the kid to do what Joshua Spearman and Nicholas Browning did by killing mom for totally humiliating him in this way. I would sure hate to read that as an update on this page.

I love this! More parents should learn to punish children, instead of abuse them. or the ones that do nothing at all.

Some public humiliation is PERFECT....especially for a teen. They mostly seem way too concerned with what all their friends think of them, I know I was at that age.
Kudos to the P.O. mom!!!

Who was it among us who told about "Mr. Listen," the rolled up newspaper that her sister used to symbolically smack her kids? I have been laughing about "Mr. Listen" ever since. It's such a good name.

I also have been thinking about such punishment for small kids. It seems to me that the kids feel the shame of it and no pain is necessary. Mother animals lightly cuff their babies to show "I'm top here and you are the baby." From what I've seen, human babies resent being reminded that they are the little ones, and yet they accept it. "Mr. Listen" was a great idea, just enough to establish who must be boss.

If more parents actually punished their kids and taught them consequences like this woman maybe we wouldn't need sites like this. (although it does rock)

kudos to her.

My son, all 6′ of him ducts his head in fear that someone he might know maybe close enough that they heard me and walks away toward some other desired unnecessary item he can’t live without and the process starts all over again.

LMAO, that is hilarious!

I think its a good thing but I could'nt have done it.
My mother publically humiliated us constantly, just because she was in a perpetual bad mood so I've always been loathe to tell my kids off around other people.
But, having said that, good on her. Too many parents put things down to youthful hijinks and clean up after them and make it all go away.
You know the sort of parent I mean. The sort who would say "Well she should'nt have had the phone where he could find it. Thats just putting temptation in his way... he's just a boy, he's just a kid"..mmm, till he becomes just a criminal.

That’s scary — 12 years old and stealing his teachers’ phone — makes me think that this is not his first problem with how to behave.

What kid are you talking about? :) The boy in this post is 14.

my oldest is 12 and hasnt stole anything, yet!

Or just hasn't gotten caught.

Heck no...if more parent's were like this lady I don't think there would be as much crime among kid's these day's. I am kid's think that they can do whatever they want then when they get in trouble....it's the parent's fault cause they did nothing to try and curb the behavior

Hey Morb, can you get this lady’s address for me? I want to send her a “Morbid on the Couch” award.

Kathy! I knew you hadn't lost the mettle to be our couch photo awarder! I see the Baby Fubore Drama Thread is up to 1200 posts. I'm staying away. It's a different country from DD.

As for this story -- go MOM! Her son is old enough to need something more than a sour look. That's scary -- 12 years old and stealing his teachers' phone -- makes me think that this is not his first problem with how to behave.
