Teresa L. BakerJeff Sadler

Huntington, West Virginia - Teresa Lynn Baker, 51, called 911 at 7:57 p.m. on Monday night. Baker’s daughter, who lived next door, was in the midst of a loud fight with her boyfriend Jeffrey Sadler, 29. An hour later, police had yet to respond and the disturbance was still going on. So at 9:00 p.m. Baker walked into her daughter’s home, raised a gun, and shot Sadler three times, killing him. That time, officers managed to show up.

One of Baker’s grandchildren told officers that “My grandma shot my dad in the head and he is dead. He is lying in front of my bedroom.”

Alison Grieco, 24, and Sadler had two children together – Grieco had a third – and a history of domestic problems. Sadler was charged in June with misdemeanor domestic battery. Grieco told police Sadler got pissed when she asked him about missing money. He hit her in the face four times and warned “the next time he would rob her blind.” Sadler failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued for his arrest in December. The warrant was never executed.

Also in June, Grieco filed a domestic violence petition against Sadler and did so again in AugustAugust reviewsAugust reviews to prohibit him from contacting her. Grieco failed to appear in court, though, so nothing was done. Sadler’s Myspace is about what you’d expect from a West Virginia white boy who likes to beat up on women. Alison’s Myspace is done up in Battered Girlfriend Blank.

I think Teresa Baker was just fed up and decided that if the police weren’t going to be of any help, then that boy needed killin’. She has been charged with first degree murder and is being held without bond at the Western Regional Jail.

His MySpace says he was a boxer and had some titles. He probably hurt this girl pretty badly every time he laid his hands on her. The kids were probably seeing it every time too.

The cops took an hour to show up? Figures. I think they should try the cops for being so damn slow.

I hope she gets off on this charge. A wife beater or a bully will one day always meet his match. I guess it was his day.

I guess mom did not want to see her daughter in a body bag, so she took one for the home team. I would go to jail to protect my kids, so I can see why she did it. In cases like this the police are reallly never any help until someone is dead and 9 times out of ten it is the battered girl who end up in the bag.

I can COMPLETELY see why Mom would shoot him! She probably was witness to many bruises and injuries towards her daughter. Not only did Mom save her daughter, but she probably also saved her grandkids.

God bless West Virginia! I’m the last of my bloodline in 4 or 5 generations to be born in WVA, so I have more than a tertiary knowledge of all things hick. Hardest working bunch of people in the US, but their collective IQ is that of Terri Schiavo, post stroke. For proof of this, look no further than their unwavering devotion to that Huckabee idiot.

Such a shame the police department and applicable officers won’t be charged – for not getting off their lazy asses to protect this woman – REPEATEDLY!! The police are sooo negligent in this case. Too sorry to serve warrents – this could have all been prevented. I hope the daughter will seek charges or a law suit or something against this lazy bunch. — Again, education and resources will come into play. The daughter will lose her mother, the community will hate her because her mother actually killed a man for nothing more than hitting his wife, and she will stay the victim, no matter what.

I have relatives about 35 minutes southwest of Huntington – there, hitting women is still the norm. Actually, women who report abusive men are frowned upon – they are expected to let their so called “men” do as they please, keep their mouths shut, and if smacked around – they are expected to take it like any other deed that occurs in their day. In fact, it is more uncommon to hear about someone actually trying to do something to stop it – than it is to hear that ” so and so sent his wife to the hospital”. It is not even considered a “real crime” in that area.

How can they charge her with First? Sounds like, when the police wouldn’t do their jobs, she just lost it and went to save her child. It doesn’t seem premeditated at all, at this point.

Like I said, in that part of WV – It’s okay to beat up women. I will bet a dime to a donut, that she gets convicted of first degree murder for ridding this sorry world of his sorry ass. Her own community will send her to the fire pit for actually stopping a man from beating HIS woman. How dare she?

I wish there was a way to get a petition up for this woman, (like in Aiden’s case) to send to the presiding judge – First, requesting that an investigation be conducted into that police department’s handling of the case. Second, to ensure the judge that entered that original arrest warrent, was informed that this police dept. ignored his order (and this would not have happened had they done their jobs) – that tends to piss a judge off when their orders are dismissed by others that are supposed to be enforcing their orders. Third, to request that she not be tried with 1st degree, but a lesser charge. Fourth, to make sure that the daughter and grandkids are protected now – from the guys family and retaliation -cause you can bet its a comin’.

She needs to be given another box of shells and a medal, instead of charged with murder. What a load of shit, that the daughter and grandkids have to be left to fend for themselves, with the one person, who would try to help being locked up.

I know I would have capped his ass, too – if it were my daughter and her kids. I can’t blame her or even say she shouldn’t have. I would have probably done it sooner, if I were her. To me, she has shown great self-control and has tried to let the proper authorities handle it – she just couldn’t wait for him to kill her daughter, while the cops sat on their sorry, sorry asses. Which is eventually what would have happened, IMHO.

The kids were probably getting knocked around, as well. Grandma did them and the rest of us a favor. Poor kids, to have witnessed all that they did before this tragic event and then to witness the killing of their dad. Although, we know he is a POS, kids always love their mommies and daddies, no matter how mean they are. Poor, poor kids. :(

Yep, if I had that goon grinning at me like in that picture and he was beating my child, in front of my grandkids, I would have shot him too.

Only I would have sworn them to secrecy and hauled his dead ass out to the woods and make sure he was never found. When the cops finally arrived I would have told them that they were to late, he had already taken off.

Then I would have helped my daughter fill out the paperwork so she could collect social security survivor benefits.

Mom being locked up and the traumatized kids are the only sad parts about this case.

Yep… justifiable homicide IMO. Too bad it didn’t happen in a more enlightened state, and that Grandma doesn’t have the money, because given the right story and a good lawyer Grandma could conceivably walk on a “defensive shooting” defense.

I wish a news source would get a hold of this story. Maybe an attorney watching would want to get his/her name plastered all over this story and how they helped the defenseless women out of their plight……………….

Morbid or Imp – is this something you can steer to the media? A little national press coverage of the cops unwillingness to do their jobs and the poor children’s lives destroyed in one way or another – could not hurt this woman’s case, surely?

Can we e-mail Nancy Grace or Greta van whatever? In our own “Morbid Angel’s” way, do you think we could help this woman get a little press coverage?

He certainly deserved the above – but more for the kids to see or endure when he got loose. I can’t say I disagree, but I still believe its better that he is dead, for everyone except the grandma.

WTH was she supposed to do – just let her child and grandkids suffer at his hands. The cops hadn’t served warrants they had for months, they couldn’t take time to show up on the night in question, in an hour’s time – (I wonder how long it took the police to get there when a MAN had been shot by a lowly woman?) I know, I know, she should have waited 2 hours and let her daughter be beaten – she should have waited on the 2 hour minimum, then the cops would have shown. What a cup of shit!!!

Because a woman shot an abusive man – I honestly believe that is why the cops decided on first degree murder – to show the other women of that community what happens when you stand up to your man…….
The cops obviously don’t respond to domestic calls, court orders for protection or arrest, in Huntington. How can this police department not be under some sort of scrutiny for the lack of action to protect?

    According to one article”
“With her mom facing murder one, Alison Grieco told investigators that Jeffrey Sadler, 29, had been confronted by her mother who had entered the residence. After hearing Baker say, “what are you doing?” Grieco heard three shots and saw her boyfriend fall to the floor. “

Sounds like the boyfriend may have been coming after her or reaching for/brandishing a weapon. Makes a good case for self defense. No witnesses other than the grandmother, so may be harder to prove 1st degree. Plus, I feel it’s more likely she went over there with gun in hand to either scare him, or to make sure she had protection against him. I don’t for a minute believe a grandmother would want to intentionally traumatize her grandchildren by murdering their father in front of them.

Then (and this is what really pisses me off):

“A published report said that the initial report of a domestic disturbance at that residence went out around 8 p.m., about an hour before the confrontation resulted in bullets flying. The report stated that according to 911, police did not respond to the disturbance call.

Police apparently believed that the victim had been “coming and going” from the residence. The published report quoted Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook as saying his officers did not believe an active disturbance was in progress at the Cedar Street residence. “

Who gives a fuck about what they “believe”???? They are public servants and if a domestic disturbance call comes in it is their duty and obligation to respond to it. PERIOD. Fuckwads. A civil suit should be brought against those morons and grandma should be the beneficiary of any and all proceeds.

Just to clarify a bit, what I mean by no witnesses is that, from the reporting in this article, the daughter did not see, but only heard, the events leading up to the shooting. It seems she saw the boyfriend fall to the floor, but it seems that he may have staggered to where she saw him fall from wherever the event occurred, which seems to have been out of sight.

Can’t hurt to try. I’ll hit a couple places with it, see if we get any response. I really think Teresa Baker should walk. I don’t think she will walk, but I think she should. Even Sadler’s grandfather was like “well, she needs her day in court, and I don’t fault the police for prioritizing when they’re understaffed, so they couldn’t get there any faster..” (paraphrase – see linked article below)

But really, it sounds more like the police just went “oh, it’s them again” and didn’t bother, in which case a lawsuit against the department would be good. They’re saying it didn’t “sound” serious: http://www.herald-dispatch.com/homepage/x851842276

Someone should have had the foresight to put a knife in his hand.

Living next door to your daughter hearing the abuse would make it all the more difficult not to stand up and protect them… a moment of insanity seems resonable when you have tried to handle the dude probably and it failed you. It has to be very hard to wait for justice to workSoon you no doubt have no choice but to take things in your own hands.

Only those that are aware of the history of the abuse between this couple would be able to make a proper decision. Always comes down to we need to set an example to others that is …. why we must arrest.

*** One of my clients took the law in her own hands (2007) … she killed her granddaughters dad and then turn the gun on herself…. for 5 yrs have fought to keep the daddy from having unsupervised visits. The grandmother had custody of the girl after her daughter was served with contempt charges and jailed 6 months refusing the daddy visits. Betty has 9 grandchildren and lost her life protecting [1] one from her daddy that was convicted of gross sexual disabution. She died knowing her granddaughter would not be hurt by her daddy ever again.

because of it is Huntington ***This makes me think of the marshal university girl found in the crawlspace in december that is still unsolved. huntington police suck…

someone needs to give the link to this thread to the huntington judges asap…

The state of Texas has recently passed a new law referred to as the “castle law” where you are allowed to use deadly force to protect your life/property or your neighbors life/property if you feel you or the neighbor are in immediate life threatening danger. This new law allows anyone that can legally own a gun to carry it, loaded and concealed in their vehicles or at the palce they are living. They can not carry it concealed on their person without a CHL. Does WV have any such laws?

The neighboring state of Ohio does those and huntington is right on the border line. recipical states seem to have an influence in what or how they react…. early in dec 07 the cincinnati proscuetor went on the air and stated that… he gives premission for all to defend their family and property. This was due to a small business employee being shot and killed during a one man robbery. The boys parents insisted that they would not be burying their son if this other boy had not gotten an early release from jail from a previous crime. Since he is a repeat offender they are seeking the death penelty and he is very young (a pure idiot)

There she goes again … nice observation !!!

Why would any guy with a foot-long chin grow a goatee to make it longer?

Anyone know if someone is taking donations for this lady to hire a lawyer, yet?The cops definitely sound like they hold some of the responsibility of this incident. Grandma should of shot him in the legs and called the cops back…..”Boys, I’ve apprehended me an idiot right here, he’s a bleeding pretty good, might want a bring one of them there ambulances.”

I have not heard of any donations for attorney fees. If it is true about him being the grandson of Magistrate Darrell Black in Huntington – she will need someone far away. If it were not a magistrate’s grandson – does anyone else feel she would have been charged with 1st? I still don’t know how they see any sort of premeditation.

The sad part is – I bet she will be convicted because of “who” the woman beater was and “who” she isn’t and what she doesn’t have – no other reasons. Pathetic. :(
