As the guy using these same roads in my daily life, metaphorically anyway, I don’t need the cops running high speed chases through the dark on a hunch that someone was having sex. From this related article it doesn’t appear that there was an obvious felony in progress but more like two people getting carnal in a car. Why did they run? I don’t know but I’m sure we could have figured it all out with a quick jot down of a license plate and a visit to the home of the vehicle’s registered owner(s). Maybe this would have clued the wife in if she wasn’t already, it might not have saved the girl but neither did this chase scene. The cowboy heroics while suspects endure the fight or flight phenomenon just don’t seem helpful to me.

But then when it turns out a girl was being raped, and then was later killed because the cop didn’t pursue the suspect, people would have jumped all over that as well. They really cannot catch a break. Cops frequently break off chases now days, in this particular case, I would have done the same as the cop in the video.
Sucks this particular asshole couldn’t drive, though.

Leah, if that is true (and you don’t know if it is–ONLY Robert knows), that only makes it worse. A 39 year old should not be having sex with a 15 year old, period. 15 year olds are pretty grown up, but they are not adults in any way. They are freshmen in high school. The only role a 39 year old should be playing is that of parent, helping the teen to maneuver their way through confusing times as they approach adulthood. And in THIS case, he was actually SUPPOSED to be acting the role of a guardian. When she came to stay in his house, as the friend of his stepson and as a person whose own parents could not care for her at that time, he was placed in a certain position of trust and guardianship. He violated that.Even if it DID start after she moved in, that does not make it BETTER. He’s a loser and a pervert, either way.
