Gibson, TN - Dorris Ann DeBerry, 62, was last seen before Thanksgiving last year, but her family didn’t get really worried until DeBerry was a no-show at Christmas. After all, her son David Climer Jr., 40, said his mama had run off with “some guy named Ray”. But when New Year’s came and went with no word from DeBerry, her sister started to worry. The sister reported Dorris Ann missing on January 9. Now, it turns out there was no “Ray”.
Authorities got suspicious when Climer wouldn’t answer the door at the trailer he shared with his mother, so they came back with a search warrant on Thursday. After arresting Climer on Tennessee’s Unhelpful Pain In The Ass law, they went through the trailer and found evidence of a violent crime - I figure Luminol was helpful, or else Climer was a slob.
On interrogation, Climer caved in and told authorities where to find what was left of his mother. Climer never admitted killing DeBerry, but did say that he “decapitated and dismembered” her. On Friday, he led investigators to a wooded area next to a cornfield and showed them Dorris DeBerry’s grave. Inside was a body that had been left in pieces for at least three months. Police say that Climer killed his mother in the latter part of November.
Climer’s ex-wife Sheila Burkeens says that Climer was violent both with her and with his mother. Burkeens lived with Climer and DeBarry in DeBarry’s trailer during the two-year marriage. During that time, Burkeens alleges, DeBerry ran from the trailer to get into her car after an argument with Climer on Christmas Eve 2004. Burkeens says that Climer “yanked (DeBerry) out of the car” and “dragged her back into the house.” Burkeens reports that DeBerry was injured in the altercation. Why Sheila Burkeens didn’t call police at that time, I’ve no idea. Burkeens did eventually file domestic assault charges against Climer and divorced him in 2005.
David Climer Jr. is being held without bail pending his arraignment Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder. Dorris Ann DeBerry’s remains have been sent to Nashville for testing to see if cause of death can be determined.

They let sonny out of the nuthouse and Mother isn’t going to let him live on the street, or he just pushes his way back into her life. The police have to wait until he does something violent before they can lock her up. Really sad stuff. To raise and child and watch them go bad, and then have your last moments on earth be spent as their victim.

Jan 30, 2008 at 2:44 am -Dude I think it must be the water in this lovely state of tennessee…I see more women that stay with the men in their live’s that abuse them….the whole family know’s it…does jack shit about it….then complain and moan when their loved on is murdered or hurt…and the nut told the police that he had NOTHING to do with killing his mom…she was already dead….but according to the police he admitted to cutting her limb’s off and getting rid of the body…..
