Matthew Watkins Doesn’t Like Confrontation

Aurora, CO – Matthew James Watkins, 39, got sick of being yelled at on Monday, so he stabbed his wife to death. “What have I done? I never hurt a soul. I just couldn’t stand being yelled at anymore,” Watkins told arresting officers. When police arrived at the home, they found Cora Watkins, 31, dead on the floor with a large knife in the side of her chest. The Watkins’ five year old son witnessed at least part of his mother’s murder.
According to a neighbor, Steven Phillips, Matthew and Cora had been fighting all day. Matthew Watkins left the home at one point to go to the store with Phillips, who reported that Matthew said, “she keeps egging me into an argument.” After Matthew Watkins killed his wife, he called Phillips, who went to the home and found Watkins holding a gun.
The couple’s five year old son walked into the kitchen when his mother called for him as she was being stabbed, police say, but Matthew Watkins sent the child into another room before killing Cora. A three-year-old child was also in the home at the time of the murder.
Watkins is being held without bail pending formal charges in the Arapahoe County Jail.

How are the kids going to feel about this story when they grow up? “Dad killed Mom because he was tired of being yelled at. Yeah, that’s what he told the police.”
Poor kids. People say having a child makes people grow up and become better people. Not all the time apparently.

Get a job is a two-fold blessing- It lets you get paid AND gets you out of the house away from the yelling, thus preventing murder.

my grown daughter’s yelling may one day send me over the edge….. if it was clean the house get a job I’d understand …. just to ask her a general question – she yells defensively – you might even have to ask ask a second time to get her answer(s) . Toss her to the porch ~ please lock your door behind her – call the cops to remove her if she tries to break in … no need to kill her !!!

I was a former neighbor of the Watkins. Jimi, as he preferred to be called, was and is quite crazy. He claims to have bipolar disorder. He would never keep a job for more than two or three months. His mother helped support him. Cora was no angel, but she was not a bad person. She loved Jimi, and overlooked his problems. She even left him once, while they were living next door, I know this because she and their son ended up staying at our house. Cora was warned about Jimi, she just wouldn’t listen. He accused my son, and the son of another neighbor of robbing him, accused my son of attacking Cora, and even called the police about my son. He claimed to have been in the military, but could never provide any back up to this claim, and even became abusive about it, warning my husband and myself not to talk to his mother when she visited because it would upset her. What really happened is that Jimi did about a dozen hits of acid and was in a coma, tripping for a month or so and invented to whole thing.
I and my neighbor both wish the police had come back to where the Watkins had lived in previous years and talked to us.
Jimi “never hurt a living soul”, what BULL. He should be locked up for the rest of his life, and never be allowed to see his children, Jimi and Merry ever again. What those kids saw, and probably heard will haunt them forever.

Cora is my sister. She was a wonderful person. She only yelled at him because she had to work three jobs, take care of the kids, and she was almost finished with an art degree major from Phoenix University. She wanted to make a better life for her kids. The “Murderer” as my our family calls him, ONLY sat on the couch drinking a beer and watching rodeo, allowed jimi and Merri to crawl on all the furniture and destroy everything in their path. Part of his sentence is child neglect.
Cora filed for divorce and Jimi Sr. (AKA: Matthew) stabbed my sister to death. If he could not have her, nor could ANYONE ELSE!
She always wanted to have her name known by many, but now that she is all over “Google.com” I don’t think that this is how she would have been wanted to be known. I love her her and miss her eternally!

She loved swimming. She was on the swimming team for almost all four years of high school. She would get so mad when mom and dad would go to see her at the competitions. LOL She just wanted to do what she was going to do and do it her way. Especially, someting that she was REALLY good at.
Cora used to cut the hair off of my barbies and hide their clothes. I would yell at her and my brother (who has also passed) would throw dinosurs at her until she would give me back my dolls clothes.
On Halloween, we would exchange candy and my brother would be the referee between my sister and I. No matter what, I could not get her to get along with me.
Her friends would come over and I would hang on their legs. LOL They would watch “Head Bangers Ball” on MTV. She was a good person, but it took the right person to bring out the best in her. I am still close with one on her friends. She is now a family friend.
Iremember she had a boy over, I will not mention his name for his privacy, and they were getting a little too hot for each other. My mom walked into her room and scared the boy away. LOL There are no hard feelings today. Just a silly litte memory that we can share as family friends.
Cora loved cats and cats loved her. She was not a dog person until later in life. With exception of our childhood dog, Honeybee. God bless her little heart.
She did not date much. She was really picky and when she had someone she stuck to him. No matter what. For better or for worse. She was a really dedicated person to the other.
Cora always had a semi-low self esteem and was always looking for encouragement from her friends. When her friends were not around, she ended up in trouble because of her own actions. With this in mind, she typically chose the wrong type of guy. (abusive). It somehow made her feel, I am thinking powerful. I don’t know. I never and never will understand it.
She was really smart. Her grades did not reflect it, though. She had a hard time studying because she got bored of concentrating so hard on her studies. She never finished high school until she went to adult night school in 1998 to get her GED. The same year I graduated from high school. I knew she could do it, though. She just had to put her mind to it.

This message is for BAMA. I know personally what he was in and what he wasn’t. I was his sister-in-law.
To answer some of your questions…
*He was NEVER in the military. That is why he could not provede any proof.
*Jimi Sr. did dabble in drugs and drank beer every day.
*He is a hypocondriac and always makes the worst of every situation instead of looking at how it can be solved easily without lies.

*For Jimi Srs’ medical history as noted abovve. Let me clear that up. He had nothing wrong with him, he is simply a hypochondriac that makes a flu out of a cold, makes an ulcer out of a simply solved problem, a migrane out of a small headache, etc… you get the picture.
