Houston, TX – Wendy Chenoweth of Kingwood is facing felony child endangerment charges after she left her children at home in the care of her three-year-old. That’s right, she was using her three-year-old as a babysitter. Apparently Chenoweth needed some alone time and didn’t feel like taking two toddlers and an infant with her. Especially since her one-year-old child has Down Syndrome.

Chenoweth told police that she left the three-year-old, one-year-old and six-month-old children in her home when she left on January 5, but that she had “called a friend” to go to the house and watch the kids. The man she reported calling said that he had in fact received a call from Wendy about watching her kids, but that he didn’t even know the woman and didn’t know the kids had been left alone. He went by the house anyway, he said, but the police were already there.

The police were there because the three-year-old entered a neighbor’s house around 9:30 AM that morning. The neighbor took the child back home and found the back door standing open and the other two babies there alone. The neighbor called police and then waited with the kids for the authorities to arrive. LuckyLucky reviews for the kids they got a nice neighbor and not a nasty one.

When police were finally able to reach Wendy “Fabulous Mommy” Chenoweth on her cell phone, she said that she’d called a friend to watch the kids and she didn’t know why he wasn’t there.  When she got home some time later, she said that her van had broken down on the way home.  Police were not able to ascertain where Chenoweth had gone or when/if she had planned to return.

CPS workers who spoke with Chenoweth said that she admitted to leaving the children alone and “that she actually did not inform anyone of that”.   She did not tell CPS where she’d been either.  The articles I can find don’t say where the kids are now, but I’m guessing they’re not living with Mom anymore.
