Michel Veillette Kills Family, Ruins House

January 12, 2008 at 4:29 pm by

UPDATE 4/15/08 – Michel Veillette is dead. He hung himself with a sheet in his jail cell and was discovered at 1:39 a.m. today, approximately three months after he allegedly killed his wife and children.

Michel Veillette Kills Family, Ruins House

Mason, Ohio - You know, if you’re gonna off your whole family, there just seem better ways to do it than setting fire to your $436,000 slice of suburban real estate, effectively ruining the market for everyone around you. But nooooo, Michel Veillette, 34, is not only a selfish homicidal bastard, he’s also a bad neighbor.

Veillette capped off his workweek Friday night with a little family en flambe. After beating and stabbing his wife Nadya Ferrari-Veillette, he then set fire to his three-story brick behemoth with his dead wife and the family’s four children inside. It is thought that the children were already in bed on the third floor of the home when their father set the house on fire. Because he’s nice like that.

Marguerite Veillette, 8 , Vincent Veillette, 4 , and Jacob and Mia Veillette, 3, were killed in the fire. Three of the children were alive when firefighters arrived, but died shortly after arriving at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Mason. Authorities thought at first that all the victims died of smoke inhalation, but realized later that Nadya had been stabbed and had head trauma indicative of a beating. The children were not stabbed, and all the victims were found in third-floor bedrooms.

Michel Veillette jumped from a second-story window (above) and appeared to have a few well-deserved knife wounds as well. He’s in serious but stable condition and is now single with no kids. He’s been charged with aggravated arson, one count of murder for his wife, and four counts of aggravated murder for his kids. Which sounds sort of like a nice way to say he was really, really pissed off when he killed them.

Michel Veillette is a self-employed engineeer from Quebec who traveled extensively for work, spending only a few days a month at home. Margeurite’s teacher reports that the second-grader never mentioned her father at all. And employees at the Colors Cafe’ in Mason, where Nadya Ferrari-Veillette worked part-time, remember her answering “Who?” when asked about her husband. Nadya’s co-workers report that Nadya was bubbly and sweet, but troubled by her marriage.

Michel Veillette’s mother and brother say that when they last spoke with Michel on Firday, he was driving home and anxious to get there and see his children. Was he planning on murdering his family then, or did something happen to set him off once he arrived home?

What does an affluent Canadian contract engineer living in Ohio really have to get that upset about? Did L.L. Bean run out of turtlenecks? Did one of the kids get a C on the semester grade report? If the guy had an adjustable-rate mortgage, I can kind of see burning the house down, but not with the family inside.

I’m waiting for the news that Veillette was up to his eyeballs in debt. Barring that, there’s gotta be a mistress out there somewhere who was pushing to take the relationship up a notch. No Amber Frey has yet been located, but given the nature of this crime, there’s either sex or money involved.

Update, 4/15/08 – Michel Veillette has committed suicide. He was found hanging in his cell at 1:39 a.m. Tuesday morning, a few weeks after being taken off suicide watch. Guess he won’t be going to trial after all. Thanks, Michel, for doing the right thing, although it would have been nicer to have done it before setting the house on fire and killing the family.

I am sick of these creeps offing their family because of whatever problems they are having. To bad he didn’t jump out the window BEFORE stabbing his wife and burning his kids.

My guess is this criminal mastermind was having an affair but didn’t want to spring for a divorce & 4 kids’ worth of child support.

He really thought he’d get away with it. What a dickhead.

Sadly his wife and kids are gone.
I hope I really hope his stab wounds were from his wife. Hope she got in some good shots on this ass before he jumped outta the window. Even better hope it injured him bad and while he’s doing time in prison some other criminal is parking his beef bus in turd town (one of my favorite lines) while this POS holds his own colostomy bag.

Yes, I agree with Dammitall. Let’s wait for the little girlfriend to show up. How did he get all four kids to stay in the house? I suspect we’ll learn they were drugged.

Michelle, that line works equally well both ways: “beef bus in turd town” and “turd bus in beef town.”

Yep, a girlfriend. He was only home for a few days a month because of his work. Either a girlfriend and he did’nt want the mess and expense of divorce or she said she wanted a divorce and he did’nt want to have to pay child support for the kids he barely knew.

Would that be a word palindrome?

Will the kitty kat on the side come forward?

I don’t know it if would be a word palindrome, but I’m sure its a hard truth that many men learn after they kill their families and jump out of windows and live to go to jail!

I think they’ll probably track the sidecar kitty cat down through cell phone records. She’ll not have known that he was married. She’ll be planning a Huge Wedding that he was planning to finance with the insurance money from the burnt house.

I’m waiting for the mistress to show up, or else evidence of serious financial concerns. A half-million dollar mortgage is nothin’ to sneer at.

I’m thinking of adding an Imp’s Beatdown Score to some of these posts with my own suggestions for implementation.

    Ex:

Michel Veillette Imp’s Beatdown Score: 9/10. Only because he didn’t rape the kids. Otherwise he’d have gotten the full monty.
Suggested Implements: dull knife, plastic bag, cigarette lighter.

I bet it was money. Look at the asshat’s photo in the article linked. Who would touch THAT? He’s lucky his wife would let him touch her enough to have the children they did. If they were already having marital problems, with or without a 3rd party involved, the cost of divorce and child support would push him over the edge.

It’s a shame he is such a weak person. He should have stayed and died in the fire too, then all his money worries would be over.

There is quite the rush to judgment here! Perhaps we should wait for all the details to come out before we lynch the guy.

For all we know, his wife and kids were just asking for this. The two older boys look like trouble-makers and that baby is obviously a screamer.

I am glad he’s alive, and I hope he doesn’t get the death penalty; assuming the state has the law.

His act was obviously triggered by some sort of a failure in his life, or maybe he just looked a few too many times in the mirror. Failures cause suffering, and the easiest way to put an end to them is by ceasing to exist; which he should’ve done instead of killing his family. People liike him need to live and continue to suffer. I don’t mind my tax dollar to pay for his life long ass rape.

Man work his arse off to support wife + kids. Man worked too hard and so never home. Man came home one night, saw wife with another man. Another man left in a panic. Man got in argument with wife. You can fill out the rest of the story.

Of cause I am making this up, just like every one of you since none of us know the truth. But I am just wondering… am I the only one not thinking so one-sided? (Yes I am a man so I might be bias…)

Please keep your heads straight, lets find out the whole story first.

I really doubt that any story is gonna make it okay that this guy killed his wife and kids. His children didn’t die quickly, by the way – they died slowly and painfully.

I’m not buying that there was another man in the house at 7 or 8 PM on a Friday night when Michel was expected home. He’d talked to his mom and brother at 6:30 and was not home yet, but was headed there. Nadya would have to be pretty stupid to have a man in the house with her kids at that time of evening.

Now, if she was having an affair, I can see him getting mad at her and even killing her accidentally during an altercation. Not okay, but i can sort of see it happening. But there’s nothing those kids could ever have done to make it reasonable for him to leave them in a burning house.

I don’t think the question is really why he did it, but IF he did it. When did “innocent until proven guilty” go out the window?

Hmmm. Wife dead of blunt force trauma and stabbing, children dead of injuries received in a fire, he’s the only person that gets out and he gets out through a window a full floor below where three of his kids were still alive, but dying?

Yeah, you’re right. Must have been the leprechauns.

    ….Salem witch trials, anyone?

Umm it’s called speculation. No one is on his jury here so calm down.

Why refer to the the witch trials where multitudes of innocent people were murdered by various forms of torture. This is one man, who appears to have murdered his family. Just an opinion but bad reference!

Ah yes, I am once again reminded of the age old addage:

“Never argue with idiots, they’ll bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience”. Only you don’t seem like an idiot, you seem to have fairly decent reasoning skills. You ARE however, a close-minded individual, so close enough.

Ok new story… Man has mistress, wife found out, wife confronted man when he got home, man and wife got into argument, wife cry, being emotional, threaten man, and said “I want nothing to do with you and I don’t want your kids.” Wife set fire on the house. You guess the rest.

Again, nobody knew who killed who at this moment. Maybe he did, and if so I will be the first one to agree his kids deserve to live. Either case this is a sad story. But I’ve said enough… have better thing to do in my life. At least I am confident that I am a wimp and I don’t have the gut to kill anyone… so if someone found me stabbed (and live), I won’t be charged with murder…

I don’t think the question is really why he did it, but IF he did it. When did “innocent until proven guilty” go out the window?

The man was charged with murdering his family. That is what we are discussing. If you would rather no one talk about this incident until after the trail, go fuck yourself and find another site that is willing to oblige. Besides, there is no such thing as being proven innocent, moron. Just guilty and not guilty. Being found not guilty is nowhere close to meaning the person is innocent. But you are right, arguing with idiots does drag you to their level…but occasionally I like to step down to look people like you in the eye.

Again, nobody knew who killed who at this moment. Maybe he did, and if so I will be the first one to agree his kids deserve to live.

Under what circumstances would these kids not deserve to live?

Actually, we do know who killed who, and here’s why:

    1. Nadya died of blunt force trauma and stabbing – primarily stabbing. However, the stab wounds were not immediately obvious, because they occurred before she was burned.

    2. If Nadya started the fire, why did Michel Veillette not call 911? His knife wounds were superficial, to the arms. Most of his injuries occurred during the jump from the window.

    3. There was enough evidence at the scene to charge Michel Veillette with aggravated arson and murder within twelve hours of the event.

    4. The children were found in their 3rd floor bedrooms. The fire started on the third or second floor, either right near the children or under them. Nadya Veillette was found dead in a third floor bedroom, but Michel Veillette jumped out the second story window, meaning that in order to get to that area he would have passed his children, who he made no attempt to rescue. He was on the third floor during the altercation, as Nadya was dead there and he had defensive knife wounds on his arms, indicating his presence at the altercation that killed his wife.

I suppose it’s barely possible that Nadya beat herself to death, stabbed herself and started the fire and that Michel didn’t feel the need to rescue his kids or call 911, but that still makes him guilty of failing to get help for his children. Or maybe there was an intruder who, with no apparent motive, tore up this family and let Michel out alone so he could jump out the window, then escaped the flames himself with no damage and leaving no evidence.

I think Occam’s Razor’s gonna be borne out on this one.

Maybe our wise Makkuro, who went off to lunch and hasn’t posted since, choked to death on a sandwich during his lunch. Or maybe someone in the kitchen kept their hand in the sandwich while it was being served and then leapt their hand out and shoved it down his throat until he suffocated. Or maybe the waitress pretended that she was wiping the table, but held the washcloth over his mouth and nose until he died.

And maybe this father didn’t kill his wife and children and then try to pretend that was just an innocent victim leaping out of a window. And, probably, unfortunately, we will have to read more philosophy and pseudo-wisdom from Makkuro sometime in the future.

Update: Michel Veillette says that he and his wife were arguing about finances and his girlfriend the night of the murders. He says that his wife Nadya went after him with a frying pan, after which he retaliated by stabbing her. But he swears that she had already set the house on fire by then. Riiight. Which of course explains why he didn’t even attempt to get his kids out of there. Yeah, i’m buying that. Not.

Not.

He had a wife AND girlfriend. Gross! He’s so creepy looking – his girlfriend must have been someone he found out back grazing in the pasture.

Wow, way to inject your opinion on almost all the facts thereby biasing it. Even the news, which is biased, isn’t half as biased as this. I know Michel. He wasn’t a looker, but the guy worked hard and loved his kids. If he did any of those things, which I am not rushing to judge because I know better, it wasn’t because he planned it.

I don’t doubt he stabbed his wife and hit her with the frying pan. I do doubt he started it. His story claims that she attacked him and he managed to take the weapons away and used them against her to stop her from attacking him more. I believe that.

He may have started the fire, but I doubt he did it with the intentions of killing his children. Someone who gets attacked with a frying pan and a knife probably doesn’t come out without getting slashed a few times and hit at least once in the head with the frying pan. Getting hit in the head with a frying pan is likely to knock something lose. Adrenaline to stop your attacker can affect your thought processes. Shock from an attack can cause you to stop thinking clearly.

Words have to have been exchanged and likely if he started the fire it was for one of two reasons. 1. An attempt to stop his wife from leaving the room as he didn’t realize she was dead. 2. Because words about the house were exchanged and he didn’t think she should get it anymore. Knowing him as I did, I know he never would have come to either of those conclusions if he was thinking straight. I could also see her starting the fire to keep him from leaving. The coroners report gives evidence that she did not which I don’t like but have a hard time not believing.

My guess is that after getting things knocked around a little and being high on adrenaline, he started the fire. As he stood and watched it begin to encompass the hallway(I’ve read it was started in the hallway), he began to calm down and think things through again. Then he remembered the kids. Unfortunately I’d like to think I’d run through a fire for my children but I have never been in that situation. The heat of the fire stopped him in his tracks and as a last resort, he dove out a window.

No reports say how he was found. Maybe he was unconscious on the ground where he landed. Maybe he dragged himself to the neighbors house and got them to call 911. Maybe he sat by the side of the road suffering from shock. Who are we to know? Who are we to judge?

Wow, way to assume we’re a legitimate news source and not a blog.
I saw the layout of that house. According to police sources, he was able to walk across the third floor, past his children, down the stairs and jump out of the second story window to save himself, but he wasn’t able to call 911 or get his kids out of their beds? Your argument that he didn’t intend for his children to die is flimsy at best in the face of the evidence. (And there is no evidence that he asked anyone else to call 911 either, so put the fantasy away.)

And because you think Nadya might have hit him first, all the other stuff he did was okay? Get a grip, dude, seriously. His children are dead because this guy couldn’t control his temper, and you’re here defending HIM? How about defending his children’s right to be here? Or his wife’s?

Wow. If adrenaline has this kind of effect, it should be illegal.

You’re jumping around in your thinking like you’re a little high on adrenaline yourself. Calm down. Lots of people are dead. Mostly little people who had their whole life ahead of them. What idiot sets fire to a house to keep someone inside a room? Murderers set fire to the house to hide their having bludgeoned a person to death and in order to get rid of a batch of children whose expense was going to cramp his style with new girly friend.

I knew this guy had a girfriend on the side!

Notice how I said ‘Even the news…’ That basically says that I recognize you aren’t a legitimate news source. But the problem I have is the fact that you judge this man without knowing him. Who are you to judge? I am definitely not saying what he did was right. What I am saying is that I was not there and I cannot assume anything and I don’t like you doing it.

By the way, I could not find a layout of his house, could you post your source, I’d be interested in seeing it. My wife told me she read that his wife was found on the second floor in the master bedroom. 3 of his 4 children were also found on the second floor and his fourth was found on the third floor. I of course cannot find the article she read this in so I’d be interested in seeing your source. The fire was supposedly started on the second floor in the hallway leading to the rooms.
This says he was found on the lawn, no indication of what mental condition he was in. It also says 3 of the children were found still alive which to me means the fire was not burning long.(You said as much about the children in your original post)
This states that the children were not drugged and they were in their bedrooms sleeping. It also states that it is unlikely they suffered any pain when they died, a true boon with such a tragedy.
This one says he jumped out his bedroom window and also that the fire was set to the second floor hallway around the master bedroom. It also says he got hit in the head with the frying pan during the fight.
This PDF shows some information and says that Nadya and the four children were found in their bedrooms but doesn’t give enough detail to show where their bedrooms are. From the PDF, it looks like they are all right above the garage which seems silly to me especially with the broken window on the other side of the house and his testimony that it was the master bedroom window he dove out.

None of the two dozen or so articles that I just read says where each child was relative to the floor nor do any show the layout of the house in any detail. Its not that I don’t believe you, its that I want your claims to be backed up by evidence, not by opinion. There is plenty of evidence calling the wife the attacker but you blame this all on him by saying he beat and then stabbed his wife and set the rest of his family on fire seemingly for money or sex purposes which is not backed up by anything but your opinion.

In all this, I think the death of his wife was necessary for his own survival which is called self defense. The death of his children was a totally unnecessary tragedy but knowing how much he cared for them, it might truly be a temporary insanity issue. I think he deserves to be punished for any crimes he did commit but I will not judge him as not one of us knows all of the facts. The courts will hopefully met out the proper punishment.

If you knew him and spent years working directly with him as I did, I would hope you wouldn’t be so quick to draw your own conclusions. Truthfully I would hope you wouldn’t be so quick to draw your own conclusions at all, with or without knowing him.

Seriously, Zanix, I appreciate your viewpoint, I really do, but where were you a month ago when this was going down? I had the source at that time. I’ll look again when I have a minute and see if I can get the layout out of some news reports’ archival ass, but honestly, man, nothing I say is going to change your mind. You’re just here to lambast me for not kissing the ass of a man you thought you knew.

It doesn’t matter how long the fire burned – all of his children died. All of them. One in the home, three the same night in the hospital. They’re dead and it’s his fault. What part of that seems unclear to you? Why are you just now Googling to find stuff on this guy? We’ve posted 127 stories since this happened last month. If you wanted me to pull sources, about 100 stories ago would have been a better time.

I hope you’re right, I do. I hope he didn’t mean to do this. All my information was taken from news sources that were in the public domain at the time I wrote the article, so there’s no libel here. Speculation is only that. You’re maligning his wife the same way you think I’m maligning your friend. The only difference is that she’s dead and can’t defend herself, and he’ll get a trial. Nadya and her children never got one.

The reason I’m just starting to get into this is because I just got a call from another guy I worked with yesterday telling me about this. I don’t watch typical news, I read BBC News on the internet because it tends to be less biased but the downside is that I get less U.S. news, and I live several states away so I hadn’t even heard a peep about it till now. I have since done as much digging as I can and I can’t find very much information anywhere. Since it’s been a month, I find it hard to believe that they had more concrete evidence earlier and it no longer exists unless the evidence was flawed.

To a certain extent, you are right about my reaction to his wife. I never knew her. We never talked about her. But we did talk about his kids. He adored his children. I remember him leaving the jobsite when his twins were born but he was so good at what he does that he couldn’t be gone for more than a few days before we needed him again.

I just have a problem when I go to all these stories just now and all these people are ready to toss him to the wolves and the last that was posted was half a month ago on any of them. If I could, I’d want to hear his version of the story from his mouth. With everyone taking Nadya’s side when she was the one who started the physically violent part of this, I guess I am trying to make sure people see that there can be two sides to this. I can’t do anything else to help him.

With everyone taking Nadya’s side when she was the one who started the physically violent part of this, I guess I am trying to make sure people see that there can be two sides to this. I can’t do anything else to help him.

How do you know she started it? Reports have said that Michel Veillette did say that, yes. But he had only a few superficial cuts – she was stabbed fatally and beaten. So even if she “started” it, he sure as hell finished it. Chances are she was near dead before the fire even started.

I’m sorry for your loss, but if you don’t talk to Michel more than once a month to even know this had happened, it’s not that huge a loss, y’know? And it’s pretty apparent that you didn’t know him any better than anyone else did.

Zanix, it doesn’t matter who started it, or how it started…what matters is who finished it, and how. Even if the wife did start the fight (which I doubt), HE’S the one who chose to end it with the slaughter of his family. If he was so dazed that he couldn’t save his children, he would have been too dazed to save himself. And if he loved his children so damn much, why was he screwing around on their mother? Why was he teaching his sons that they didn’t have to respect women, and his daughters that women aren’t worthy of the respect of fidelity? Gee…what a GREAT guy.

If anyone started a fight, he did–the second he said, “Hell with my marriage vows!” and hopped into bed with another woman.

I don’t talk to him more than once a month because I know he is busy and so am I. We worked together for close to 2 years. How many of your ex-coworkers do you call up once a month?

As for starting the fight. If he was strong enough to overpower her than how did he get the cuts? He was apparently bad enough that he was in the hospital for over a week from his injuries. Police have said he was stabbed in the leg and the stomach. In order for him to receive those injuries, he’d have to attack her, then she take away the knife and pan from him , stab him and cut him a few times and then he took it back before killing her? Come on. That or he stabbed himself but the angle of the wounds would tell tales there and none of the stories even speculate that he attacked her first.

My guess is that after getting things knocked around a little and being high on adrenaline, he started the fire.

Wow. If adrenaline has this kind of effect, it should be illegal.

Well helll… who doesn’t start a fire and roast there children while hopped up on adrenaline? I always keep a box of matches in my pockets for such times.

Oh and one last thing. The kids are definitely the ones who suffered in all this. If he is convicted, then he deserves to do his time. I just don’t think the death penalty is the right course of action.

I think they more than suffered, and let’s not forget his wife. I do not care if she started the fight because he was a dishonorable cheater that chose to waste money on some side pussy. He should have taken his fry pan lickin’ and been a better person for it. The DP for this chinless wonder sounds damn good to me.

If it was just a fry pan lickin’, I’d agree. When a knife is involved, I don’t care whole you are, I will fight back until I feel my life is no longer in danger.

Thank you. While it gave no new information to me, I had not seen it and I’ve been looking for anything like this.

BTW, thank you all for listening, even if you didn’t agree. I’m going to continue to think of him as innocent until found guilty in a court of law by a jury of his peers. If they happen to find him innocent on all charges, I will think of him as such. If they happen to find him guilty on one or more charges, I will accept it as such. This event has opened my eyes and never again will I blindly judge a person based upon the actions of a single day.

Zanix, it is just a hunch, but my guess is that this guy isn’t as busy as he used to be.

    Heh, cute.

Well thank God all people do not think like you. All those innocent people that have been freed by people who continued to fight for them after wrongful convictions would have just been screwed.

This event has opened my eyes and never again will I blindly judge a person based upon the actions of a single day.

A single day? I think the trial will show that this man was involved in activities that spread beyond the night he got busted cheating on his wife.

No one here is blindly judging him, at least I’m not, I am judging his actions and his obvious intentions. If this man was a good guy, and was just the most loving father on the planet, his actions on the day he murdered his wife and kids supersedes all that. There was no excuse for it. I could care less if a man gave 100,000 to a local charity…if he gets caught shoving his cock up the ass of a 2-year-old, he is just a generous pedophile. For all the good this man may have done, or may continue to do, he is still a cowardly child murderer. Jesus, O.J. was let go but I don’t think you will find anyone, who is being honest, who doesn’t think he got away with murdering two people.

I just do not get your logic. It’s almost like you are saying that if I am a nice guy, but then one day I snap and decide to kill my family, I shouldn’t be judged on those actions, but rather that until then, I was a nice guy? Really?

What really amazes me is they interview a guy named Chad who worked with the man for 12 years, and even he isn’t as blindly devoted as you are…a man who only new him for two short years. My SON could have done the actions this man did…I would still love him, but I would make no excuses for the fact that he murdered his family.

However, IF he is found innocent (which he will not be), I promise to admit I was wrong about him being a child-murderer. But when the evidence comes in and is made to light, like in every other case like this we watch here at this site, and he is proven to be the heinous, murdering coward we already know him to be, I’ll be sure to hand you a nice, fat stone to toss his way. That is, if you are not too busy visiting him in prison, pressing your tits against the glass that separates you.

Thanks though, Zantix, for once again proving to me that no matter what I do, there will be some schmuck to stand by me no matter what it is, as long as I am a nice guy. There is a chick who commented a few times in the Kelsey Peterson case…you two should meet. :)

Morb, I can just about guarantee you that Zanix never met Nadya or the kids. he’s just that guy who can’t believe someone nice and normal like he is would do this, so it has to be the wife’s fault. Nevermind that Nadya was beaten and stabbed before she was burned or that Marguerite had thermal burns over 90% of her body, ot that he didn’t even attempt to get any of his kids out of their beds – much less out of the house.

Wow. Just wow. I’m glad society is more civilized than you are or there would never be innocent people alive to be freed by people like me. They’d just get out the ropes and hang him. You continue to throw your stones and feel good about yourself.

Glad to know you don’t believe the whole innocent until proven guilty thing. I hope it bites you in the ass one day.

Gotta love Morbid…. :) I had to comment on that, hahahahaha!!!

Now to the rest of the comments…………………….

Gotta love Morbid…. :) I had to comment on that, hahahahaha!!!

Now to the rest of the comments…………………….

My god people, I’m not saying the man is totally innocent here. I’m saying I won’t judge him until he has had a fair trial. You pull bits a pieces out of the mountains of knowledge and interpret it your own way. Nadya was beaten and stabbed. Damn straight she was. So was he! The difference is that he didn’t die from it. That is deserving of a hanging?

Marguerite had thermal burns all over her body, but she died from carbon monoxide inhalation. What the thermal burns tell us is that the fire was goddamn hot which corroborates Michels story about it being to hot for him to go after the kids.

He killed his kids. I’m not arguing this point. I’m not saying he should be freed. I’m not saying he is innocent. That never should have happened. If his intentions were to kill his kids he deserves the death penalty. Do I know what his intentions were? No. Do you? No but you seem to think you do. Hopefully over the course of the trial they will be able to prove what his intentions were and decide if he deserves the death penalty or just life in prison.

I’m glad society is more civilized than you are

What society do you live in? You are in extreme denial. If I wasn’t so bewildered by it, I would laugh out loud.

Glad to know you don’t believe the whole innocent until proven guilty thing. I hope it bites you in the ass one day.

WTF? Are you wishing ill on another person because they are disgusted by the actions of a weak piece of shit murdering bastard? We won’t even get into the fact that he killed his wife, THIS FUCKER LET ALL OF HIS BABIES DIE!!! Hello?

He’d fight to the death to protect HIS life, but he’d let his innocent helpless babies burn to death in a fire he started? Holy fuck! Are we on candid camera or something? This has got to be a joke!

That’s for a jury, dumbass. If I watch a man bash another in the head with a hammer, I don’t need a jury to tell me if he is innocent or guilty.

You didn’t watch it happen, you’re speculating. Why is this so hard.

Hopefully over the course of the trial they will be able to prove what his intentions were and decide if he deserves the death penalty or just life in prison.

That is were my aggravation stems. Hopefully, they will have decent prosecutors and will have no issues explaining to a jury what happened that night. But Zantix, seriously, anyone with kids knows that the only way you would leave them in a house on fire, with no attempt to help them, would be if you wanted to leave them in the fire.

A real man, who nothing left to lose, would have died trying to get them out. But this man is a cowardly man who did have something left to lose. A girlfriend in Canada.

And not only were you absent at the scene, you missed the majority of the initial press and police press conferences, so you’re weeks behind on your research. Therefore, your speculation is based only on limited knowledge of man whose family you never met and with whom you didn’t talk frequently. And we’re supposed to suddenly bow to your font of wisdom? C’mon. Frankly, all you’re doing is increasing our traffic to this story, which has nearly doubled in comments since you showed up.

You never did meet the children, did you? Or Nadya? what about the girlfriend? Or the massive debt? What do you know of any of those factors besides “dude was a nice guy”? If dude was a nice guy he’d have moved heaven and earth to get to his children and died trying. He didn’t, and the evidence on Nadya’s autopsy was such that it’s highly unlikely she was alive long enough to start the fire. She was fatally stabbed, brutally beaten. His injuries, until he jumped out the window, were minor. Your guy is a grade-A dickhead, and to my mind, a murderer. You don’t have to like it, and we don’t have to refrain from judgement.

I can’t do anything else to help
    him.

Let me help you — HE KILLED HIS KIDS!!! :( The wife and husband aside – HE LEFT HIS KIDS TO BURN!!!!

WTH are you thinking – it does not matter about the wife – well, it does, but what I am saying is, no matter what happened between the adults, he killed his own children or at the very least, left them to die.

So YES, his ass goes to the wolves.

  • thepooh5

I just have a problem when I go to all these stories just now and all these people are ready to toss him to the wolves and the last that was posted was half a month ago on any of them. If I could, I’d want to hear his version of the story from his mouth. With everyone taking Nadya’s side when she was the one who started the physically violent part of this, I guess I am trying to make sure people see that there can be two sides to this. I can’t do anything else to help
    him.

Gotta remember that arguing with a mob is worthless. Was trying to leave civilly. Now I’m just going to leave. Later.

He’s still here, you know. Zanix, you weren’t trying to leave civilly, you’re just pissed that your failure to produce evidence of your semi-buddy Michel’s innocence was met with disdain. What were we supposed to do, say “ohmygosh i didn’t know you KNEW him, well that changes everything”? Clearly you have not spent time reading here before. If your blinders weren’t so enormous you might have made an interesting addition to the site.

Thanks for the little site traffic blip, though.

    I’ll re-ask Morbid’s question — Are you the girlfriend?

You sure sound like a girl who has had smoke blown up her ass – no pun intended – about what a loving father he WAS and how you and he could have a beautiful family together, if it weren’t for that bitch.

I notice that you have responded to everything except Morbid’s question.

So is Xanax, I mean, Zanix, a woman or a man? I was thinking man. But then started thinking he does sound a lot like an Oprah fan or someone from “a site” who mistakes length of posts for persuasiveness. And most of the Ope’s fans are women. This call once a month could be a manly thing or a flirty thing.

But Zantix, seriously, anyone with kids knows that the only way you would leave them in a house on fire, with no attempt to help them, would be if you wanted to leave them in the fire.

I know what Morbid is talking about here. When a fire starts in your home and you know that the children you love desperately are in that house is a nightmare. One that I will never forget, it was four in the morning and I ran around in the dark smoke filled rooms waking up my children and sending them outside. I was counting to make sure they were all out and one was missing. The fireman tried to stop me from running back into the house for my son and I bit him and sidestepped him. I was half-way in the house when I realized that he had spent the night with my mother. I would have died trying to get all my children out of that fire. I was lucky, I got all mine out, but my Aunt didn’t in the house fire she was in, she threw one child out the window to save his life, but couldn’t get to the others. She lost all four children in that fire and was badly disfigured from trying to get to her children. My mother was thinking of that fire when she pulled up, I could see it in her eyes but I also saw the pure look of joy when she realized all the children were safe. If this man would have loved his children as much as you say, he would have lost his life trying to save them all, not taking the window as an easy way out.

So sorry you and your family had to endure two fires. I’m thankful that you were able to save all of your children and make it out yourself.

You are correct about what any loving parent would do. I bet you never even gave a thought to your ownself – just oh shit my kids are in there. It was a gut reaction (I gotta save my kids, I gotta save my kids), because you are a loving parent – it was not a thought process, as seems to have been for this man – the only thought being of himself and the side item.

If it was just a fry pan lickin’, I’d agree. When a knife is involved, I don’t care whole you are, I will fight back until I feel my life is no longer in danger.

Yah…. and when your life is no long in danger, like chinless… you run out to the garage to get gasoline, run back inside to spread it around the house. Knowing your children are asleep in their beds, you strike the match and toss it. Then you save your sorry ass while your babies die. Bah…

Even animals will go into a fire to save their babies. I know mother cats will do it even when their ears have been burned off already.

Thanks though, Zantix, for once again proving to me that no matter what I do, there will be some schmuck to stand by me no matter what it is, as long as I am a nice guy. There is a chick who commented a few times in the Kelsey Peterson case…you two should meet.

    Amen

He killed his kids. I’m not arguing this point. I’m not saying he should be freed. I’m not saying he is innocent. That never should have happened. If his intentions were to kill his kids he deserves the death penalty. Do I know what his intentions were? No. Do you? No but you seem to think you do. Hopefully over the course of the trial they will be able to prove what his intentions were and decide if he deserves the death penalty or just life in prison.

You prove the point- he KILLED his kids. NUFF said. No further discussion required.

Mr. Veillette is a sick fuck. He should have to visit burn units and see babies burned up, smell them, and hear them scream out in pain. Yeah, he should have pictures of his own children’s burned bodies taped all over, where he can look at them everyday. I cannot attempt to understand someone like that….someone that could be so fucking cruel.

Deidesheimer testified Tuesday about statements Veillette made during a 55-minute recorded interview Jan. 14 at University Hospital – three days after the deaths. “He stabbed her with the knife while straddling her with his knee on top of her neck,” Deidesheimer said. “He said he knew she was dead.” Next, Deidesheimer testified, Veillette said he grabbed a gasoline can from an attached garage, poured gas on the second floor, then ignited it with a long-handled butane lighter from the kitchen. Veillette said that as the blaze raged, “he tried to get his kids out,” Deidesheimer said. Intense heat drove him back, so he jumped “head-first” out a second-floor window. Investigators later found a lighter and a melted gas can in the master bedroom doorway, along with a trail of blood leading to the garage and to the window that Veillette said he jumped from.

THEN, surprise surprise … he changes his story – blaims his wife. Claims he doesn’t remember talking to the cops during his confession, that they got it him to say that stuff b/c he was high on painkillers or something.

He [Veillette} said Ferrari had already set the blaze before she attacked him in their bedroom. Veillette claims he tried to save the children, but the fire was too intense and forced him to jump out a window. The account from Veillette contradicts the statement Mason investigators say he gave them three days after the fire as he recovered from stab wounds and other injuries at University Hospital.

ALSO .. Did you see the size of that guy? Veillette was considerably taller and bigger than his wife. Like he had to stab her and beat her with a frying pan! He could have easily subdued her if he had too.

Money problems, girlfriend, wife and 4 kids? I’m wondering about a life insurance policy — Kill the wife ($) + kill the kids ($$$$) + burn the house down ($$$ and cover up murders) = run off and live happily ever after with a ho-bag.

And Zanix, he started the fire b/c he was disoriented from being hit in the head and adreniline?? Give me a break! That has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my life.

Thank you for the information, too. This just verifies to me that Nadya couldn’t have set that fire. It makes sense that he wouldn’t have been able to get to his children – or Nadya, for that matter – but based on where the fire started, he couldn’t have even planned to try. That sucks. This man’s family deserves justice. To try to defend or explain away Michel Veillette’s actions is a slap in the face to his wife and children.

Zanix’s own website actually stated that maybe Veillette’s new girlfriend didn’t give him a hassle about money. So that tells you where that guy’s coming from – whatever you do is fine, as long as you have a new girlfriend.

If you knew him and spent years working directly with him as I did, I would hope you wouldn’t be so quick to draw your own conclusions. Truthfully I would hope you wouldn’t be so quick to draw your own conclusions at all, with or without knowing him.

Think about what you are saying. There are many, many people who have beem attacked by others, or their kids have been molested by lifelong friends/family members, who never, ever saw it coming. They don’t say ‘Wow, I must be wrong. I work with that person and they would never do that. My kid must be a liar.’ Or ‘maybe my uncle didn’t rape me. He seemed so great at the family picnics.’ Women marry child molesters/abusive men without ever realizing what they are capable of. Get a clue, man. No one ever really knows a person. And I prefer to look at the overwhelming evidence. Throw around ‘circumstantial’ all you want, but such evidence is only disregarded on TV; in real life, enough circumstantial evidence can put you away. After all, if you weigh such evidence properly, the details fall into the place. Man has mistress, man stabs wife (I don’t care why), house is on fire and kids are left to die while daddy, who you yourself said LOVED them dearly, escapes and doesn’t even try to save them. I doubt a jury would see it your way. Head injury??? Dude, to leave my kids in a burning house, I’d have to have had a lobotomy. I would save them or die trying. I gather you do not have children (or a conscience) because no parent (or person with any kind of conscience) would leave children to die. I don’t give a fuck if you knew this guy since you were in utero; that does not mean you know what happened any more than we do. Just because your speculation goes in favor of your buddy doesn’t make it accurate.

Chinless loser. I truly hope he strangled to death slowly–no quick neck break for him, if there’s any justice in the world.

According to this article, http://tinyurl.com/5362d3, he left behind a suicide note. If there is such a thing, what do you want to bet that it will be all about “poor, poor me?” And he’ll manage to blame his wife one last time, I’m sure.

Well, expect his friends to come out the woodwork any time now, crying about how this “proves” he was innocent–he just couldn’t life without his family any longer, so it proves he never could have killed them? *eye roll* How about, this proves he was guilty as hell? Finally his guilty conscience got to him…or, more likely, he knew there was enough evidence of his cold-blooded murders that he’d end up getting the death penalty anyway, so he just launched a pre-emptive death penalty himself.

I wonder if the mistress was standing by him through this. I’d love to know if she co-incidentally broke it off with him right before his suicide.

That Z dude apologist for the perp was all over the place – illogical, superior, judgemental -no wonder he cut and run for less critical pastures. I can only thank him, though, for the brilliant “Frying Pan” defence (knocked something loose) and the “Adrenaline” defence (got high) which no doubt will find their way into the lexicon of defence arguments, along with Twinkies and PMS.

Update ~ The girlfriend has spoken:

The day before he was arrested in the death of his family in suburban Cincinnati, Michel Veillette stopped off at Leopard’s Lounge in Windsor, Ontario, and told his stripper girlfriend the time had come.

He was planning to end all ties with people he knew in Ohio, the girlfriend, Sabba Siraj, would later tell police.

“I’m going to be together with you. We are going to spend the rest of our lives together,” Siraj said, recalling the conversation for Mason police.

Veillette rattled off a list of names, showing Siraj a picture of one of them — a woman who Veillette described as a childhood friend, someone he helped along with all his other charity work.

Siraj later found out it was his wife.

Not to even suggest that a stripper is less worthy than the next gal, but…Really?

This reads like some cliche true-crime fiction novel.

I wish I was surprised, but for every Scott Peterson in the world, there is an Amber Frey.

…and I know I kind of missed this boat, but I hadn’t read the second page comments when I posted earlier.

I don’t get these “innocent until proven guilty” people. That is a standard that the GOVERNMENT is held to. It’s just like the people who argue that they have freedom of speech on privately operated sites. No…The GOVERNMENT is not allowed to infringe on your speech. If you’re in my house or are on my website (if I had one), I can censor your shit all I want.

People don’t seem to understand the difference between government standards and personal standards. Judgement is a good thing, so long as you’re not taking the law into your own hands.
