Hey Pedro Cortez, Nice Shot You Idiot
January 2, 2008 by Morbid

Denver – Pedro Cortez, 25, has been arrested for the shooting death of an 11-year-old girl and a woman who were both at a New Year’s party in a house in Denver. Shortly after midnight, Cortez fired a high-powered rifle from approximately 300 yards away from the home. The bullet entered through a wall, through the head of Becky Yanez and into the side of her cousin, Angelica Martinez. Becky died at the scene and Angelica died at the hospital.

Neighbors reported hearing gunfire and a second bullet was found in a snowbank in front of the home. It is not yet known if the man intentionally tried to shoot at the woman and girl, or if it was just an accident and he fired off the gun in celebration. Cortez has been charged with counts of first-degree murder.

Yanez was hit in front of her daughter, 14-year-old Jeanette Yanez, a ninth-grader at Lesher Junior High.
“Everyone fled to a safer room, and Jeanette realized her mother wasn’t there. She went back and realized pretty quickly that her mother had passed,” said Lynne, who was not present at the time.
Lynn said Jeanette and her mother lived together in an apartment.
“It’s just been the two of them for a number of years. She’s worried about who’s she going to stay with. She’s not sure about her future,” Lynn said. “She’s been pretty strong for a 14-year-old girl.”

Dumb macho assholes who have to fire their guns at New Year’s. Every year in Los Angeles people would get killed by these nuts and their celebratory gunfire. But did that stop them! No, can’t give up a tradition like that! They didn’t seem to care that even if they fired into the air, the bullet came down somewhere and sometimes killed someone.

Makes me so happy to be australian when I read of all these gun related deaths.
Our gun laws are very strict and we have nowhere near the amount of shooting deaths other countries do.
When Martin Bryant went on a mass murder spree in Tasmania a number of years ago they changed the gun laws. Thank God.
Can’t see America ever going that far though.

I don’t know why those damn fools can’t shoot into the ground if they feel they must shoot at all. >.<
