Not to mention if an inversion develops and you get more snow than is predicted. Pure speculation-either their tracks got covered, or there was no snow cover yet at all to leave tracks. As for the phones, maybe there is hope there, if there aren't towers in their area. It sounded like at least most of them had some type of wilderness experience, so they would know what was safe to eat...maybe they found or built some cover and they're just waiting.
