How in the world – did he have any kinda of bail? The DA’s office and the judges that allowed bail are so much at fault, too.
Set a pregnant woman on fire – the women being set on fire and shooting a grown man are heinous, enough. The real possibility of killing a child was staring him in the face and didn’t slow him down. Damn Double Damn!!!
Evidently, there were several witnesses – no question of doubt of his guilt — DEATH PENALTY – no questions – no need to decide whether to seek it. Kill that POS.

I don’t believe they can seek the death penalty unless one of his victims dies. However, even if they don’t, they should be able to seek life. Hopefully, that’s the goal. This crime was exceptionally heinous.

Athena – again you are correct – my brain as usual going faster than my fat little fingers – I did not type the part of if anyone actually dies. That is not what I posted but is what I meant to post. And, I certainly hope they all live – and if they do I hope Life is an option the DA will explore.

That’s fucking ridiculous. Seriously. I think we should just start offing people with offenses like this. I mean, obviously, we’re running out of room in prisons if this fucker was roaming free, so why can’t we “clean house” a little?

Heather – we can’t be like that – because we are better than that. That is why shit like this inflames us all so much – we care! There is no question of his guilt and if you want “the eye for an eye” thing – someone has to lose an eye first. No one is dead at this point.
I am so in favor of the death penalty and feel it is not used enough. Yes, we are running out of room in prisons – so we should “clean house” with the already convited, proven offenders instead of keeping their sorry asses up for years, decades – that would open up some room. Another thing that would help the over crowding is for “pot smokers” not to get more time than child molestors – another ludicrous thing – no I take that back that is plain and pure bullshit – Fortunately, at this stage of the game, I think there are more pot smokers than pedophiles – Thank the Lord!! And, unfortunate, for more room in prisons. Law makers need to get their priorities straight.
We can’t off people for offenses, only convictions (maybe that is what you meant – as I don’t always type the correct word that I meant to put). And, then conclusive convictions – admissions, indisputable evidence, etc. We cannot allow ourselves to stoop to their disgusting levels of just “offing” people.
Do I think he deserves to die – YES, a million times over. But, so far, he hasn’t killed anyone – only armed robbery was mentioned above (14 armed robberies) until this mess – that is the ridiculous part – how in the world could anyone allow bail? The death penalty is out of reach, at this point. Unfortunately! And, I do not hope that anyone dies just so that there can be an opportunity to get rid of his sorry ass.
And yes it kills me to know he is breathing my air. I’m with you, mostly!!

I’ve updated the story, he was not arrested 14 times since Feb, he was arrested four times on 14 separate counts of grand theft since February. Still stupid, though. He had only been out for 10 days.

Right on dammitall and Pooh with your drug statements. Non-violent drug offenders should not be imprisoned. Our prisons should be be full of violent criminals who do shit like this….and of course our prisons should not be “the good food, good tv, good computer, good weight room” type of prisons. Our prison systems need to change.

pour gas on someone is bad enough withou setting the fire the guy needs to die, no court room proceeding necessary. You would think differently if it was your loved one that was set ablaze. One of them now has a newborn premmie that they can not take care of they were ROBBED part of their life they can never get back.
I agree we are too running out of space we have been paying another county $1000 a mo to board over flow and they have threthen us if we don’t do what they tell us and vote the tax increase they already showed us. They terminated 6 police crews in the most dangerous of neighborhood and released hundreds of inmate the day after the tax levy failed. It really sucks they should just off them whats the point – these people are unfixable inside the prison walls or outside just a waste of resources suuplied to them.

The guy is a moron for looking for cash in an insurance office.
The fact that he had access to gasoline (always readily available in insurance offices!) means he had some previous intent, or, for some reason, it was his weapon of choice, besides his gun.
Hippiepoet: Prisons are for the rehabilitation of criminals and the incarceration for life, or until execution, of those who commit the most heinous crimes. The problem is, as rehabilitators, they do not work. Case in point would be the classic “preppie murder” case of Robert Chambers in NYC from 1986. Look it up.
Also, too many drug pushers or users spend time behind bars with sentences that are too long and cost us too much.
If someone is in jail because of drug possession for personal use, that person needs detox and counseling, not jail. There he gets raped, makes unsavory connections, and then cannot function when he is “back on the outside,” because he is exposed to, and forced to survive with, scum like Leon Davis, Chris Collings, David Spears et al.

Uck. This gets worse. The baby was delivered by Ceasarian following the attack, and died. Now the other woman who was set ablaze (not the pregnant one) has died, as well. How horrible that she lingered for so long before succumbing. Someone needs to be answerable for this man’s freedom. And I use the word ‘man’ loosely…

Thanks Ruby for the link. Damn, that is soooooo sad. As a nurse, I think seeing a burn patient is one of the most awful things, I’ve ever had to deal with. (I could not have worked a burn unit) These poor woman. Terribly tragic.

Wonder you are probably right, were it a family member I would feel different. I guess I was trying not to “hate” so much and let some others reasoning into my brain – but, I can’t deny, if it were my family I would want him dead – for lighting them up.
Now, he certainly, has no excuse or reason to live – he killed 2 people and there is no question of his guilt. DEATH PENALTY!!

I’ve oft thought that folks that kill, should die the same way. Kinda cruel. Though I’d want to burn this sick fucker up, I know I couldn’t (if I killed him, I’d be no fucking better than him). I hope he does rot in fucking prison….it’d be such a pity if he got kitchen duty and somehow ended up getting burned. Again OUCH. I always thought the two worse ways to go; death by drowning, death by burning.
btw I meant no disrespect to anyone who believes in the bible…and yes, I’ve read it and yes I was raised Christian/Catholic but now consider myself Agnostic.

The gasoline thing – does point to premeditation, if he “brought it”. I suppose someone – the man trying to help, a maintenence worker, what have you could have had a gas can around. But if he brought the gas with him, he planned on killing them or hurting them so badly they could not identify him. If he carried the gas, I believe he was gonna kill them. Shells for a gun, the one thing more costly than gas or oil.

Why not? Maybe if the punishment for crimes were worse than a slap on the fanny there would be less crime. The playing field should be “level” when it comes to crime. If they can be sickos and commit the dirty deed, why can’t we “stoop to their level” and dirty deed right back? Ya know, something along the lines of …..you steal, you get your hand cut off, you rape a child, (or anybody) you get your dick cut off or twat sewn shut, (although staples would work here too), you kill someone, you die the same way. NO questions asked. Period. Perhaps, in time, criminals would come around to our way of thinking. Hell, as it is now, what do they have to worry about? Get caught, go to jail, three meals a day, all the tv they want, all the sex they want, hell, for them its home. Home sweet home!
