pleaded no contest to child abuse charges and on Monday, were sentenced to prison for 15 years. This will be followed by 10 years of probation and an order from the judge that they never be around children again. The boy is still in the care of the Department of Children.
These beautiful ladies, Suzette Stevenson, 45, and Jamie Lynn Martin, 26, are charged with aggravated child abuse. A 7-year-old boy, who weighed 37 pounds, was found wandering around a Westgate Resort parking lot in Kissimmee disoriented and with visible injuries. He had been drugged and left in the car while the two women checked on time-share property.
The boy suffered from severe malnourishment, internal injuries to his stomach area, a severely injured foot, and numerous cuts, bruises, and abrasions all over his body. The boy also had numerous injuries including ligature marks on his wrists and burns inside his ears that appeared to be caused by a cigarette. The abuse appeared to have been going on for several months. Some of the abuse included forcing the boy to drink shampoo, bending his toes back until they cracked, tieing him by his wrists to nails in the wall to force him to stand up for several hours each time, kicking him in the stomach, denying him food and keeping him out of school. They are each accusing each other of the crimes.
Stevenson, the guardian, was being held in the Baker County jail on $100,000 bond; Martin was transferred to the Columbia County jail, where she was held on $75,000 bond. The boy is currently being cared for in a hospital under the supervision of The Department of Children and Families.

Okay, is either one the birth Mom? Poor little boy! I have an adopted son and can’t imagine him being mistreated. A child is a gift, especially an adopted child because they sometimes have been taken out of bad situations, and should be given a better home and environment. Sounds like these girls should have adopted a dog since they treated this little boy.

I apologize. I sometimes feel hypocritical in that I am a hippie, I do preach non-violence, but damn, people hurting kids, I don’t get it. I can’t fathom it. Violence I know is not the answer to any of these horrid things these people have done, but goddammit, it cannot be allowed to continue. Some people seem to be just cruel and evil idiots. I try to teach both my kids, not to fight, to walk away from cruelness, but I’ve also taught them that they must defend themselves, because sometimes that is the only way to cure a bully. I think I’ve stated in another thread, I was once in an abusive relationship, there were times when my ex-husband would whip my ass in public and no one would help me. I made a vow never to sit back and let someone be hurt, I help in whatever way I can. Yes, I am a hippie and a lover of my Mother Earth and it’s people, but sometimes just expressing things in words helps. Guess it is why I do write poetry, it is a way to vent all these things….some not so damn pretty or peaceful.

Sorry that your husband was an asshole. My mother was physically abused by my father, fortunately she was strong enough to get out before I was 1. It amazes me how many people knew that he was doing it to her but never bothered to stand up to him and stop it. Or that no one helped you either. Just know that there are some of us out here that would have helped if we were around;
I once pulled my car over on a very busy street to help a little asian lady who was getting knocked around by her wonderful husband. The altercation between him and I nearly came to blows. Though he was a man he was on the smaller side so I was thinking to myself “okay, I can take this guy. I think I can kick his ass!” Fortunately I did not have to find out if I was right, because my stopping had now created a scene and another guy stopped to help too. Mean while the little lady had time to escape to safety.
If it makes you feel better in the least, though I obviously don’t know you, it seems from your posts that you turned out really great! And you don’t go around beating your children like some do because of what they claimed happened to them in the past. Well except for that awefully vulgar language you use…joking!

Here is the relationship between Stevenson and the boy:
Baker Co. Sheriff Joey Dobson said the boy was born in California. The mother was arrested and jailed in San Bernardino for meth possession. The child was then turned over to the father, who didn’t want to take care of him. The father then gave the child to his aunt, who later died. Before she died she left the child with her partner, Suzette Stevenson; Stevenson then moved to Baker County Florida.
What a shitty life this kid has had so far.

Where I am from, there is a whole legal “whoha” that has to been gone through before even another family member to take over a child’s care. They amputated the big toe of his left foot, one of two that had been broken by bending. Other injuries include rope burns on his wrists from where he was left hanging by his arms from two large wall lights at the trailer.
“He had burns on the sides of his ears, and they believe those came from being dragged across carpets,†said the investigator. “The doctor initially called him ‘walking death’ and indicated he may have damage to internal organs from repeated kicking.â€
Sean’s head was covered in bruises and knots believed to be from blows by fists, hands or other objects.

What a sad situation. I wonder what benefit the couple received having the child, it doesn’t sound like they were receiving any government benefits. Almost sounds like they were hiding him so I don’t see the benefit. It obviously wasn’t the benefit of having a wonderful little boy in their lives.
I wish that this little boy be adopted into a loving home where he is spoiled rotten and loved more than he will ever know.

Today, Martin was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The boy is no relation to either woman: “When the boy’s mother and father were jailed in California, the father turned the baby over to an aunt who had some type of relationship with Stevenson. …[T]he aunt passed away and Stevenson bought a fake birth certificate claiming the child was hers. She then moved to Florida where she began a relationship with Martin after meeting her online.”

Are we sure these women are lesbians? They look SO much alike that I took them for mother and daughter once I perceived that the person on the left is female. They have the same oddly drawn mouth, the same pig eyes and razor nose, even the same head tilt in the mugshots.
