Held off on this one, as I wasn’t sure where it was headed. But since this is now a homicide investigation, I figured we should get this posted.
HORSE SHOE — Bob Bryant alerted authorities that his parents Irene, 84, and John, 79, had not come back from a hiking trip in the Pisgah National Forest. Crews worked for three days before finding the body of Irene Bryant, 84, partially covered by leaves about 25 yards from their vehicle. A medical examiner later found Bryant had been killed from blunt force trauma to the head. The couple’s bank card had been used to withdraw $300 from an ATM in Ducktown, Tenn and photos taken from bank surveillance cameras show a person wearing a yellow rain jacket withdrawing money at 7:35 p.m. The hood of the rain jacket obscures the person’s identity. Initially thought to be a missing hikers case, the search efforts first used dogs that are not trained to search for dead bodies. Because of the three-week lag to the massive search area and the two-state crime scene authorties haven’t had any luck in the case.
Here is the timeline of events so far:
Oct. 21, 4 p.m.: Someone uses Irene Bryant’s cell phone to call 911. The signal is lost, and the call never reaches an emergency call center. The provider is unable to lock onto a position using GPS. Irene Bryant was killed that day, authorities later say.
- Oct. 22, 7:35 p.m.: Bryants’ bank card used to withdraw $300 from a machine at a Ducktown, Tenn., bank.
- Nov. 2 or 3: Bob Bryant tells the Henderson County Sheriff‘s Office his parents are missing after not being able to reach them by phone or e-mail for two weeks. Neighbors noticing newspapers piling up outside the Bryants’ home also alert authorities.
- Nov. 6: Search for John and Irene Bryant begins.
- Nov. 6, 1:45 p.m.: Bob Bryant, after traveling from home in Texas, finds his parents’ Ford Escape on the side of Yellow Gap Road in Transylvania County.
- Nov. 8: Law enforcement begins search of couple’s financial records for recent activity.
- Nov. 9: Authorities determine couple’s bank card used.
- Nov. 9: Sixty-five people join another 40 already searching for the couple. Searchers find body, which is sent for autopsy and identification.
- Nov. 12: Search for couple suspended.
- Nov. 13: Police go public with information on the bank card use, releasing photo from bank video. Medical examiner identifies body as that of Irene Bryant.

All four of my grandparents were dead before I was old enough to kill them myself, so I can’t empathize with you. But look, at least these guys lived long enough to drive poorly and become victims of road rage. That’s surely worth something.
Another positive spin on this: Social Security will remain solvent for 4 seconds longer than otherwise. Let’s do our part by offing a few blue-hairs today, otherwise there won’t be any benefits for us later!

There is nothing to update. Mr. Bryan has still not been found. Investigators are looking for some college students parked near their vehicle in hopes they may have seen something useful.

Update: Skeletal remains found in western North Carolina were identified Monday as a missing hiker whose wife’s body was found near a hiking trail.
Transylvania County Sheriff John Mahoney said Monday the medical examiner confirmed a body found Saturday by a hunter in Macon County is John Bryant, 80.

They did link him to it, conclusively, they said. And they found the remains, too. I tried to post all sorts of info about this a few days ago, but the site kept eating my posts and I got cranky and mean and took my toys and went home.
Anyway, yes, prosecutors are “certain” that this was also the work of Gary Hilton. The details are now lost to the cybergremlins.

My grandparents are hiking in a state park in the sky because the opression of our United States of America makes drifters (with no hope of finding a job) so desperate that they need to kill an old woman and hold her husband hostage in order to retrieve 300 dollars from their bank account. Has anybody got an update on this case? Did they ever formally charge Hilton? Was there a trial yet? Has he been sentenced?
I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose parents in this horrible way. All those months of not knowing must have been awful. And waiting for justice cannot be easy at all.

GMH, is awaiting a Death Penalty trial in Leon Co, FL. There is a hearing scheduled to set the trial date on May 29,09. This hearing has been rescheduled several times without explanation. Some pretrial evidence was released but redacted beyond comprehension.
The average wait to receive lethal injection is aprox 20 years in FL. GMH is 62 years old. He was given a life sentence in GA(30 years min). Do the math. He will die of natural causes in prison.
GMH’s greatest fear is Federal SuperMax. I can think of no one that deserves it more…

The film called “Deadly Run” is about a serial killer who hunts women he sets free in the woods. The producer of the film, Samuel Rael, says Hilton came up with the plot. For the 1995 screenplay, he says Hilton suggested, “go ahead and let some beautiful women out in the woods and then they could be hunted down like prey.”

‘Found the link’, the Sketch of the POI does resemble GMH. Although many victims of GMH & associates, will be revealed through DNA and other methods, many will go unsolved.
The reason given by LE to the public, via the media, that the DP was taken off the table in Meredith Hope Emerson(Blood Mtn Hker) case, was that GMH, would lead them to her remains. Although this may have played into the decision, the primary reason was to get a conviction asap. A GA Law dictated that GMH’s DNA couldn’t be released until indictment. His cae went from arrest to sentencing in less than 30 days. His DNA results were returned within 24 hours and cold case detectives from several states & jurisdictions were waiting for them. ‘Meredith’s Law’, was swiftly passed that remeded this antiquated policy… Several states, including FL, have folowed suit in changing this law…

Hilton, 61, in jail for allegedly kidnapping and killing Buford hiker Meredith Emerson now faces charges in the slaying of Cheryl Hodges Dunlap, 46, of Crawfordville, Fla. in a National Forest near Tallahassee. A masked person suspected in Dunlap’s slaying used her ATM card on three occasions following her disappearance on Dec. 1. Leon County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Rob Reisinger said during a news conference that deputies can place Hilton in the area at the time of Dunlap’s disappearance.
Avid hikers John, 79, and Irene Bryant, 84, were last seen alive on Oct. 20 in the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina near the borders of Georgia and South Carolina. Her body was found bludgeoned three weeks later; John Bryant found dead days later. Transylvania County (N.C.) Sheriff David Mahoney said there are many similarities in the killings of Bryant and Emerson.
In each case — including Cheryl Dunlap’s slaying — the victims’ ATM cards were used. Emerson, Dunlap and Irene Bryant were all found in state or national forests. In the two most recent slayings, the bodies have been disposed of in gruesome fashion. Georgia authorities said that Emerson was decapitated, and reports have circulated around Tallahassee that Dunlap’s head and hands were severed from her body. Local officials won’t confirm it, but Maj. Mike Wood of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office told the Tallahassee Democrat there are similarities in the cases that deputies weren’t at “liberty to discuss.”
Yet another unsolved slaying in which the victim was dismembered has investigators in LaGrange wondering whether Hilton may be involved in yet another killing, though officials are quick to dismiss any known connection. Still, there are “obvious coincidences,” said Capt. Mike Nixon, chief investigator for the Troup County Sheriff’s Department.
On Dec. 6, a passing motorist discovered the body of a woman — still unidentified — missing hands, feet and head. The mutilated body was in five black plastic garbage bags along Stitcher Road in LaGrange, which is west of Macon near the Alabama line.
Although an attempt was made to burn the bags, some evidence was recovered, including a Domino’s Pizza coupon from Chamblee. The address on Hilton’s arrest warrant for Emerson’s kidnapping is on Clairmont Road in Chamblee. Nixon said investigators believe the woman was killed in metro Atlanta.
“We’re looking into Hilton. We’re looking into everything,” he said.
Rumors have spread in LaGrange and Tallahassee that the slayings are connected, as each corpse was dismembered and the bodies were discovered within nine days of each other. Nixon said he’s heard the speculation but so far nothing links the two cases. And as of now, he said, Hilton is not a suspect in the LaGrange slaying.
Meanwhile, Forsyth County officials say they are investigating whether Hilton may have been involved in the slaying of Cumming beauty salon owner Patrice Endres, whose body was found a little more than two years ago in Dawson State Forest, about a mile from where Emerson’s body was located Monday.
Hilton is accused of abducting and bludgeoning to death Emerson, 24, who disappeared while hiking with her dog in the North Georgia mountains on New Year’s Day. He is charged with kidnapping with bodily injury in Union County, where Emerson disappeared in Vogel State Park. Hilton also faces a murder charge in Dawson County, where Emerson’s body was found Monday and where police say she was killed.

I was very concerned, and to be honest, very frustrated when I realized what GMH, had been up too for decades, yet was being portrayed as a petty drifter by the media. When I located his garbage pile which was aprox 3 ft deep by 10 ft in diameter; kids clothes, women’s clothes, men’s clothes, etc. and LE left it sitting on the ground in his campsite, until it was eventially hauled to the dump by park officials, it was obvious to me that they were not interested in the truth. Seemed that they wanted it to go away.
All media reports read: GMH held Meredith for 3 days; Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri. Thats 4 very long days & nights….
GMH’s many, many victims, have no voice…

Jeremy Jones said that he abducted Patrice Endres, and dumped her body at Sweetwater Creek. LE searched Sweetwater Creek in Fulton/Douglas Co. When they didn’t find her remains. They ruled him out. Her remains were found near sweetwater Ch Rd. Dawson/Forsyth GA.
I am confident that Jones was an Associate of GMH….

Aproximately 1 1/2 years ago a group of concerned people came together when John & Irene Bryant, Cheryl Dunlap, and then Meredith Hope Emerson was abducted and tragically murdered by GMH. The original forum; ‘Safety Tips on the AT’ , as well as many more forums were shut down(censored), but the group, being very persistent, survived, and is on a forum called: ‘The Pie House’. The members are from all walks of life and from many areas of the US, including the Tally area, and around the World(as far away as Germany). We are having a get together this weekend at Tugaloo State Park, GA, to meet in person. It has been tagged as ‘The Pie Fest’….

GMH, lead LE to the site where he disposed Meredith Hope Emerson’s remains on 01/07/08. This was in the Dawson Forest WMA, Atlanta Tract. GMH, was interviewed enroute by LE. He made the statement;
”this is not the only body that’s been dumped here!”

He walked toward me with an iron bar held firmly in his hand, no expression in his eyes nor in his face, I reacted and he veered around me, placed the bar in the bed of his his truck, then became normal….

Patrice Endres Has Been Located 12-6-05
Patrice was found on a road that has yet another church on the same street called “Sweet Water Creek” church. The same “Sweet Water Creek” Jeremy Jones spoke of disposing of Patrice. I now wonder was his confession true but sketchy because of his drug abuse? Authorities in Forsyth County say that because Patrice was not found where Jones claims he put her, does not mean he is cleared. They still believe he is the one who took Patrice that fateful day.What makes this mystery so interesting is the fact that Patrice was found five days after an Alabama judge sentenced Jeremy Jones to die for murdering another woman. The day Patrice was found was also on her husband’s 60th birthday. My mother and I searched several church yards in the first months after Patrice’s disappearance because my mother had a dream that Patrice was in a field with tall trees and she heard church hymns playing. We did not go too far to the next county where Patrice was ultimately found because being in the South, there is a church on every block. I have to wonder if he had kept searching because of mom’s dream, would we have found Patrice? We dismissed it all as crazy dreams, because we all have them from time to time.
