Sen. Jim Preuitt’s Grandson, Benjamin Stanford, Committed Suicide

CARROLLTON, Ga. — Benjamin Stanford, 17, was last seen on the morning of Nov. 5. A student at The Donoho School in Anniston, Ala., he was the son of one of Alabama senator Jim Preuitt's daughters. The same day, authorities found his Jeep Cherokee along I-20. Stanford's body was then found by searchers in a wooded area about one mile off I-20 in Villa Rica. Carroll County, Ga., Coroner Sammy Eady said the cause of death of 17-year-old Benjamin Stanford of Lincoln, Ala., was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

    My prayers and thoughts are with the family for their tragic loss of their son, Benjamin Stanford. It’s hard to believe that a child would take their own life.
