ok first of all may I say that this is one of the most heidous cases i have read about I am a red neck mom and grandma from missouri and I agree with all of you That the step grandma knew about it and was covering up for her fat swine sucking pig of a son what mother gets out of bed at 1:30 am to take her supposdley drunk son her car and sets at his house for 5 1/2 hours til he returns and doese’nt at least peek in on the child she is supposed to be sitting with acting like she did’nt know the child wasn’t there bull spit!!!! she knew I will just say this much in all honesty years ago I had made a terrible mistake and married a guy who I had known all of my life one day I was sick and had went to lie down my then 8 year old daughter came and got in bed with me she was shaking all over i ask her what was wrong and she told me her step dad had stood over her while she was sleeping on the living room floor and had ejaculated on her well this was the first time someting like this had ever happened because my daughter was taught to always tell me everything so without hesitation i cleaned her up while my ex husband sat in the recliner asleep I took her to the neighbours house and returned home needless to say he was awoken by me jabing him in the gut with his own 30/30 it was’nt loaded but he did’nt know that he confessed everything to me right then and there and had wet himself and begged for mercy for me not to kill him my friend by this time had called the police and he was aresseted he actually told the cops he wanted to press attempted murder charges on me the cop looked at him and said well i wont aresst you and you can go back in the house with your wife if thats what you want ha ha he volunteered to go to jail . So yes I know what its like to have your child hurt my daughter is now 27 years old and has had to undergo alot of therpy in her life but she is at least still with me and for that everyday I thank god . Now for what i feel should be done to all of those involved in rowan fords case the death penalty is to damn good for them after all why should they die a peaceful death of going quitly to sleep and never waking up by a needle hell thats just a shot the should be put into prision and once a day be brutally raped by other in mates while having to stare at a huge photo of rowan after the rape they need to be strangled with a cord until the pass out only to have it repeated over agian and agian until the die of old age now thats red neck justice !!!!! otherwise for the rest of their natural born lives the should have to face the horror that little girl faced I would just bet that if every one of the preverts out there was sentanced to a punishment like this there would be alot less of this crap happining.

I agree with all of you. This whole thing has me so stressed out. My daughter is sleeping with me at night because I cannot bear for her to be out of my sight while I am sleeping for fear of anything happening. I have never been so scared. I have lectured her and her brother about going outside without the dog with them, or without us being outside. THey know mostly about what is going on without the gory details. I have spared them that. But they know Rowan was killed, and they remember seeing her when we would be at that church. I dont believe that the mother is totally oblivious to this, I just think she never thought it would go this far. Wednesday she will bury her baby. She will have to pay for overlooking the obvious warning signs. I agree that Mona Spears had to have known more than she says. No woman would sit in a house with a child in it for 5 1/2 hours and never check to make sure she is covered up. Hell, I check on my 19 year old to make sure he is covered up at night. And to not be suspicious when he son calls to ask for her vehicle in the middle of the night? She is either dumb as hell, or she knew more than she is letting on. And his cock and bull story about blacking out and not remembering things until Friday. That is such BS. He just knew that with Chris going to the cops and turning himself in that he was screwed so he came up with a last ditch effort to explain it. I think that they realized that the cops were gonna get them with DNA evidence once Rowan was found that Chris finally confessed. I dont know, I am just so angry. They are to be arraigned tomorrow, I am curious to see how they plea. If they confessed under questioning I cannot see how they will plead not guilty, unless they plead diminished capacity or temporary insanity due to alcohol. I personally hope someone snipes them while they are on the way to the court house. Here they pull them out of the jail and walk them thru town to the court house so they are subjected to the humiliation of being seen. Or at least they used to. But in this case they will likely drive them for fear someone will kill them.

I can’t even sleep … everytime I close my eyes – I see horrible things.
It makes me want to puke. SHE’S 9 YEARS OLD – THEY SODOMIZED HER. I wonder if she died from strangulation, or internal bleeding? The corner said it was the most brutal rape he’d ever seen. The things they did would be enough to seriously injure an adult woman – I can’t imagine what it did to this little 60lb girl.
I can’t believe so many people around where I live go on tirades about illegal immigration and how the “dirty mexicans” are going to come here and rape, rob, and kill … when it’s usually NASTY MIDDLE AGED WHITE MEN who do these things. I’m not saying that whites are the only ones who rape or kill – but like 90% of serial killers and serial rapists are white! Maybe we need to be less worried about illegal immigration and use those funds to protect poor innocent little kids like Rowan!
My husband is not white … and a lot of people around here are racist. It really kills me sometimes – the way people look at us – or little snide comments they make. One of my co-workers is very prejudiced even though she tries to hide it … today we were having a discussion about this case – and I told her basically what I said above ^^^ most of these guys are middle aged white men. She got really mad about this, but it’s sorta payback for her asking me one day IN FRONT OF EVERYONE at the lunch table “Do your husbands people still marry sisters? Don’t all Indians believe in that?”.
Also – some of the women I work with defended the mom 100%. I wonder how different it would be if the family was hispanic? I’m sure all those women at work would be saying “Lock her up and throw away the key!”.
Bexter – I totally see where you’re coming from. The past few days I haven’t let my kids out of the house without me or their dad to accompany them. My husband was supposed to work a few nights this week but changed his schedule. I get very nervous without him around to protect us … I know it’s paranoid – but this world is such a BAD place … :[

One more thing. Men, are not like women. They do not have a natural “instinct” for children who are not their own. That’s not to say stepfathers can’t be great parents – but let’s face it ladies – most men are asshole anyway – and I’d say most men are pervs too. Finding a great guy who will cherish and truely love you in this day and age is like finding a needle in a haystack – and what decent self respecting guy is going to want to date Colleen Spears? Not to be mean – but she has 5 kids (by more than one father I would presume) – she’s not very attractive, and she’s obviously pretty broke if she works the nightshift at Walmart.
I could never trust a man besides my husband with our kids. My husband was raised by four STRONG women. It sounds like David’s mom is just as fucked up as he is. No wonder he has no respect for women or children! And Chris Collings is adopted – so god knows who he came from. I seriously believe that this just creates an endless cycle of abuse. If you raise a son around this – he’ll grow up and do the same thing to his daughters. If you have a daughter – she’ll either be dead or in the same position her mother was in – on welfare and married to a scumbag.
BREAK THE CYCLE! My mother in law was widowed when her youngest was 4 months old. She somehow managed to raise all of her four kids – and none of her daughters were raped, molested, or murdered. She somehow managed to raise a son who is a gentle soul, not a sexual deviant, who provides for his family, and would defend them to to death if he had too. It is possible! Women like Colleen don’t even want to try!

I agree with you. We have a dog inside that would tear someone up for coming in the door at night. She is very protective of the kids. So even tho my husband works nights I feel somewhat safe. At least I did. But I do the same, every time I close my eyes I visualize the things these pigs did to that girl, and try to imagine how she must have cried. At first I didnt know that he was molesting her before and thought how she must have thought he was there to save her when he first came in the door but then he dropped his pants and joined Chris. How betrayed she must have felt. But once I found out he was molesting her already, I realized that she must not have thought he would save her and realized that it was only going to get worse. And the article I read that said they killed her because she looked up at them. How totally cruel at any rate. Its just so awful. I could not imagine my daughter going thru anything like that. It tears me up to even imagine it. I hate both of them and hope that they die over this. Either in prison, in the electric chair or by redneck justice at some point on the way to the courthouse. There is so much pornography out there that people are becoming morally bankrupt and they just dont value lives or children anymore. My kids mean the world to me and I could not imagine hurting them, or allowing someone to hurt them. I cannot believe that the mother knew nothing. I feel that at the least she chose a d*ck over her daughter. Like I said I cannot wait to see what happens when they are arraigned tomorrow.

and I agree with you cyan19, tho I am adopted too, but I know where I came from and am damn glad she gave me up to decent parents who raised me right. I think Chris came from okay people, he was adopted by okay people, he just ran with a bad crowd, and was babied by the adopted parents. He was always in and out of trouble with the law, mostly in, and never really had to deal with responsibility. His mother died recently and to tell you how little he cared, she laid dead in the house for 3 days before people from her church found her.He had little to do with his adopted dad, who only checked on him every few days to make sure he was still alive. He was too busy being a drunk and I imagine on drugs to care about anyone. ITs a sick world anyway but this time it hit a little too close to home.

Hello everyone.
I’m from Milwaukee,WI and have been following this unbelieveably disturbing story since I heard about it a week ago. This makes me so sick to my stomach. I don’t have any children of my own yet, but I totally agree with everything that has already been said. This little girl’s mother should only receive sympathy because her baby is gone, other than that, she should have to serve some kind of sentence since it is apparent she knew something was going on. I don’t understand how people can do this to children, they are children.
I’ve cried for that little girl because I can’t even imagine what it was like for her before she died. Who does this to a 9 year old and think it is ok? What kind of mentality do they have that this seems to be “the norm” and acceptable in their eyes?
I hope these two so-called “men” aren’t separated from the rest of the prisoners where ever they end up. I know there is a sort of class system in prisons, with child rapists/molesters/murderers being at the bottom and I believe in the whole
“eye for an eye” deal, so hopefully they will get to experience the fucking hell they put Rowan through.

My mom married my step-dad w/ 2 daughters when I was 4 and my sister was 3. They went on to have 2 more children together. My stepfather was fantastic – the best thing to happen to our family and a great parent! So the stepparent comments are a little unfair and out there.
As far at the white trailer park trash that is involved in this BS…the dude didn’t wake up one day and say let’s molest my stepdaughter and kill her! He MUST have been molesting her for some time and the mom was oblivious. He & his friends must have been molesting her and things went too far…and here we are. What sickos. I hope someones sodomizes all of them involved – then they should put them all in the cave together for eternity.

Have you notified the authorities about what the sister said? The mother is responsible in this too if that statement is correct. If you have first hand knowledge then you should do this.

He KNEW RF was at his friend’s house…was that because she was a frequent guest there? Why did nobody in the church or school ask her WHY she had to be out of the house at dawn before Spears woke?! What a tragedy!!! I have always been a supporter of the DEATH PENALTY – this is a prime example of why I so strongly support the DEATH PENALTY!
What a waste of a beautiful child. How can they plead not guilty after confessing – both said they strangled her? Was that a plan, to “cast a shadow of doubt” between the two – for the jury? I think they planned all along to both confess to the killing (if caught) – then the jury has a “shadow of doubt” and may not be able to find either of them guilty or ensure a mistrial. I hope the judge, jury, and prosecution can see this for what it is worth — NOTHING!!!

I dont know, I think the mom needs to be investigated more to see if she was in the know that things were going on with DAvid and her kids, not just Rowan but the older ones as well that she ignored. If so, I think she should be charged with negligence. I am also interested in hearing what the State says about the hotline call about Rowan.
As for the above, I think that they must have covered her face or head when they were raping her or else drugged her. I am anxious to hear the findings of the autopsy to see if there were drugs in her system. The Nathan that is mentioned is the other person whose name has floated around. I know his family, but not him. I dont know if he was involved in the ordeal other than to have been involved with the drinking part of it. I also think Myrna Spears needs to be investigated more for obstruction of justice for not reporting sooner when she knew that he was gone all that time and for not checking on Rowan while she was supposedly sleeping. I am still angry and dont think it will go away any time soon. And the fact that they applied for public defenders, now we get to pay for the sorry POS’s legal defense. They said they are under suicide watch, that would be nice to hear. I think if any of them do it will be David. Good riddance tho.

Ok well new here to this as of just now, but i was reading all the things wrote on here and agree with them all. Also I have been doing my own detective work and did anyone notice that on chris’ myspace page ok under his pic it says the last log in was 11-02-07 right the day of the murder, well if you notice where it says his mood he put HORNEY with a devil smiley face, how sick is that. Knowing that he satisfied himself with a little baby, what kind a man gets his rocks off on a little child, I have 6 kids 3 of them girls, and I never let them outta my sight i trust noone, because of things like this, and I mean no’one. I’m going to the funeral today not for support for the mother but for the little girl who no one cared enough to protect, that whole family has to live with what they all did and well did’nt do to save that little girl, and KARMA comes 3x’s back.

By the way what kind of mother lets her kid sleep in the car all night long while she is working, why didnt the mother just cut his thing off and throw it in a cave and put him in jail, so she could be safe. And another thing is rowan was old enough to be in school so why did the mother work nights and leave her kid with him, she should’ve worked days while she was in school and had him work nights, so he couldnt rape her kid, what a b*tch she never should’ve been able to have kids…. People these days need to have a licence to be a parent, and stupid dont qualify as being a good mother.. We as parents are giving to much credit, because if it was’nt for our children we would not be good parents. So love your child enough to protect them, not the man in your bed, hell men are like buses a new one every ten minutes and the same with woman. put your children first, remember they didnt ask to be born. We gave them life and now we have to do everything in our life to protect their lives.

I agree, she should have transferred to day shift. I dont know where David worked, but I would never had left him alone with her, after the older girls moved out. I too had heard that she slept in the car. I would think that she should have told more people, like the people in her church, about the abuse, but you dont know what kind of threats that POS used to keep her quiet. I mean if I weighed 60 pounds and a 300+ pound man was threatening me I imagine I would keep quiet too and do what she did, just hide and exist. But her mom SHOULD have seen something and dealt with it. She will have to live with what she has done, but I imagine from the things I have seen and heard that she didnt care all that much, I think right now she is basking in all the attention she is getting. You could tell that from the TV interviews that as bad as things were she was liking all the attention.

That is just sad, and sick in my book. 15 mins of fame from your daughter’s brutal murder and rape, by the man you said i do to. I tell you this, my daughter was 7 and molested by a family member, and she didnt tell me, but i knew and after trying to kill him he turned himself in but was released because my daughter wasnt able in her mind to tell police what happened, he died in Ok from a drug over dose I heard so he got something for it, but the point is that I did tell everyone what he did to my child, and it wazs touching with her clothes on, but still does’nt matter, anyway no’one belived me and two more of the girls in my family were also harmed and now I hear the I’m so sorry I didnt belive you now my child is suffering because I didnt listen. But you know what the police and state officals, are also to blame, because they just dont listen. I will always belive my child over any adult, no matter what. Because if I dont then who will. I was molested as a child and no’one cared, I told the school, my mother, my friends, the police, the hospital, nothing from anyone, they said I consented it well I was 5 he was 48, so i think that people need to stop trying to get 15 mins of fame after the fact, and try protecting and saving their children.

I keep looking at her beautiful picture posted above with this article – I can’t get it out of my head – it seems she is having to force her smile – almost like “can’t anyone see what’s happening to me?” Her eyes are crying for help. I weep for this sweet child.
As to the POS mother, last night, while I couldn’t sleep, I kept trying to find a way to believe she did not know – surely! BUT THAT IS BULL SH*T!!! The sorry B*tch had two older girls move out because of the “trash” at home. THAT WAS A MAJOR CLUE! Then, this is the unbelievable part, her kid ALWAYS leaves the house early (hours early for school and church), sleeps in mom’s car BECAUSE she DOESN’T WANT TO HOME ALONE WITH DAVID, and she didn’t know? After lying in bed last night, I am almost more angry at the mom (if she can be called one) than the POS that did this. It almost seems to me, that she allowed those things to happen to her children (all of them) JUST TO KEEP THE SO CALLED MEN AROUND. Were her children “fringe benefits” to staying with that hag? I don’t know the answer to that one, but she could have PREVENTED this is had she been any kind of parent.
And, sorry to be so ignorant, but I have just joined the discussion yesterday – I am quite a bite behind on a lot of the news that has already circulated and also I live in North Carolina – so if anyone has the time could you please comment on the posts regarding “the tip from the hotline” and did I understand the sheriff stated they killed her because she looked at them?
If she was killed for looking up at them – that implies one of three things 1) if this had been happening, were they (or David) hiding his/their faces – but why was she leaving early if she did not know “who”? or 2) did she know “who” they were and she broke on of David’s sicko rules by looking at him? or 3)was this possibly the most brutal attack to date because there was more than one man and “stepdaddy” could no longer hide the facts?
Too much to comprehend and I’m not sure I want too. I feel, also, that there were enough signs that some of the adults at school or church, or the community should have intervened. I know I would have – the first time the cops were called on me I was 14 – an adult woman drug her child ( a little boy 4-5yrs old) out of a grocery store, threw him in the car, and the with a closed fist backhanded the child twice in the face and head – before I could get out of my friend’s car. The next thing that happened, I drug her out of her car by her hair, she landed on her butt and back on the ground and I stomped her with my boots and then sat on her chest and punched her until the grocery store workers got me off of her. I do not remember it – but my friend said that I was screaming “how does it feel b*tch” over and over at the top of my lungs. I wish I could have been there for little Rowan – we might both be dead – but she would have known at least one person in this sorry world cared about her. I am not being cruel or mean by this comment, I thank the Lord that this ordeal is over for beautiful Rowan. I’m sorry that she had to go out “so hard” – but at least the Lord has sparred her anymore physical pain from David and others. The Lord has sparred her from the feelings of betrayel from her mother and desperation of no one helping or caring. I pray that you rest in peace now, Little Rowan. My guess, going only with what we know (and even some of that may not be credible as we have no way of verifying anything said by some of our posters) is that while David may have been having inappropriate contact with Rowan (going by statements made here, the fact that the two older daughters left, and the activities of Rowan and her early church visits, the Hotline call, etc), maybe he let Chris in on the secret.
Maybe they hatched this crazy plot to have Chris abduct the girl with the sole intent of them both raping her. Masks would not be viable as who wouldn’t recognize these two Deliverance, backwoods, redneck looking versions of Laurel and Hardy even if their heads were cut off. They blindfold her, or make her keep her eyes shut, who knows. But going by their statements, killing her was not in the plan until the second she looked up at David. Which has me wondering if he was ever abusing her at all, as why kill her if he had been doing this all along?
I am curious as to what David told his mother. Where he was going. Did she not check the room because she knew Rowan wasn’t in it? I am not saying she knew the girl was being raped, as David could have told her anything, but I think more will come out on that side of the story.
In any case, I am sure the more details that come out, the worse this story will get.

Perhaps, the POS David was pimping her out to friends and not being the attacker, in the beginning? I don’t know, but both of them were a waste of space, time, and air.
You are also right about stating masks would not have concealed their identities. Just so hard to try to second guess anyone – much less a sicko pyscho! David’s mother is trash, too! I have a 16yr old son and if he ever thinks about doing something like this – well, lets just say the cops will be the least of his worries. I have raised or tried to raise my child to know the difference between right and wrong. I wish Ms Spears had done the same or at least told on the POS and saved Little Rowan’s life.
Both women, the B*tch mother (as such) and the sorry Ms. Spears are as accountable as any others in this horrific murder. I pray the law doesn’t allow those two to walk around freely. I believe they should have the same sentences as the “bottomfeeders” get! Preferrably, DEATH!!! I would hate to know I spent one dime to feed or clothe them, as I know any Missouri tax payer would! However, if they do live – One thing we can be thankful for….PRISON JUSTICE!

I agree with you morbid there is alot more to come out i am sure I follow the story every day I can not go to the funeral today but i will say a silent prayer for rowan we all need to remember that she is safe now and may i just add one thing if the older girls were also being abused and thats why they left then why oh! why didnt the report it now if they would have told some one what happened to them they may have gotten their little sister out of their any way woulda , shoulda , coulda its all to late now when i close my eyes i can she her in a field of flowers playing happily with other children she is smiling now a real smile no longer does it have to be forced HEY!!!! Colleen , David , Chris , myrna and all who knew or even suspected and could have helped but chose to ignor the signs because the dint want to get involved rowan knows what you done.
AND SHE IS WATCHING YOU she smiles now because she is safe in god loving arms and she knows that you all will burn in hell there will be no rest for you all yes god does forgive sin but not the devils sin and what you all did was pure evil incarnate

I am absolutely sickened by this. My prayers are with Rowan’s family (the ones that did truly love her)and her school friends. I question Colleen’s part in this. I recently read somewhere that Rowan’s real father molested this little girl also. Colleen & David were married in a bar. What a bunch of f*ckin’ winners! Also, there were reports of suspected abuse in the recent past, and it’s a no-brainer as to why Rowan went to church early and also early to school. This is so sad…and to me…could have been prevented. People just need to removed their rose-colored glasses! ***Sigh*** Thanks for listening. Peace.

I THINK, maybe the older girls did tell, at the time, and no one believed them. I, also WISH, they had come back in their adult lives and helped. I will not place blame on them, though. Who knows what they endured and what threats were made to them. Evidently, those girls did not receive any help from anyone and most certainly they were never offered counseling – because they had to run. I’m sure the older girls have more guilt themselves than any of us could ever post. The older girls are in my prayers as well.

OK. From what I’ve read here and observed in new reports I have formed the following opinion.
Colleen Spears is a dumb bitch with as much motherly instinct as a slug and half as many brain cells. She should be held accountable for not protecting her children and her reproductive organs should be burned and fed to the wolves. I thought she seemed like she was seeking attention from the first photo I saw of her sitting on her front lawn. Who grieves for their child ON THE FRONT LAWN and then grants so many TV interviews??? Notice how we aren’t hearing too much more for her now that the details are coming out.
It looks like everything was stacked against that little girl from the day she was born. The other two were lucky they made it out alive.

Colleen Spears and Ms. Spears – I cannot say enough – how I hope the cops will exhaust every avenue to charge both these b*tches with anything they can find in any statute. The more I read, the more I would like to fly to Missouri and thrash those b*tches my self. I would gladly pull a little stretch on simple assault to punch them both in their lying mouths and say “Look what you caused!!”
I wander, could one apply for a job with the state of Missouri, be accepted, be hired and trained in time, to get to be the one to throw the switch, push the plunger, or what have you, on those POS, if convicted? I could become interested in a career change after reading about this little girl, Rowan.

I only disagree with you about the express lane – I say let the prisoners have a little fun – you know the same kind those bastards had with precious Rowan. I know we don’t want to waste tax dollars – but a few weeks without being separated from general population – would be worth a few dollars don’t ya think?

Since those b*stards got their jollies – I would really hate for “Bubba” miss out on the fun. Actually, rape is not the only thing that happens in the pen to guys like them. I have a friend who had a car wreck and killed the passenger, yes alcohol was involved – anyway he did a little stretch in the pen. One of the bad stories I remember him telling, was how one inmate, who had raped a little boy, had his rectal area “fished out” with some type of wire. My friend described it as a coat hanger but I don’t think prisoners actually have clothes hangers like we picture. The pervert almost bled to death but he was saved (what a shame). I wander if he viewed sodomy the same way afterwards.

Sheesh! Yikes! are right – ugh, makes your stomach weak. However, I don’t know if anything is BAD ENOUGH to equal Little Rowans suffering; but, I don’t believe anything that could be imagined would be “TOO BAD” for those b*stards to suffer.
Rowan did not have any choices! Those POS chose to do these sick things, which, in my opinion, removes all of their rights to fair treatment, humane treatment, their right to be rehabilitated. Rehabilitation – a joke in itself. I don’t think they could be rehabilitated and even if they could, why should tax payers have to pay for their rehabilitation. If I become an alcoholic or drug addict (much less of an offense as this), guess who gets to pay for my rehab? – ME! No one else. Let them pay for their own choices, although money is not acceptable in this case. There is no cash price for Little Rowan’s suffering. So let them pay with their bodies and lives. She had too – because of her SORRY MOTHER!
And what about that Colleen? I am about to die. Why is she not in jail right with them? I saw a picture of that fat fart David, with a tear running down his cheek – I almost puked. He really is a “big bad man”. I hope they keep him on suicide watch and make sure he lives to make it to general population – maybe they can extract some real tears like the ones Little Rowan cried.

Sheriff Epperly is already eyeballing Colleen, you can tell in his media comments. And I think that whoever hotlined Colleen to the Department of Family Services should SPEAK UP, and stop acting with apathy. Perhaps though, they already have. Who is to say?
You all might want to take a look at how many registered sexual predators live in these counties, Newton, Mcdonald, and Barry. I bet half the parents in this area have no clue. How many women with children who are dating bother to look it up? Of course, not all predators are caught. There are infinately more out there than is on those registry lists and that is reason enough to think twice about who you bring home. People need to start educating themselves in order to protect their children! To protect the children that aren’t theirs too.
None of us can say what penalty these deviants should suffer. It won’t undo the pain Rowan suffered…would that it could. The laws should be stronger in regards to such behaviors. Our system of justice is weak. It is formed by those who haven’t been affected personally by those types of criminals.
We’re all angry. I’m angry. I think we all have alot of emotional healing to do in regards to this case, for those who are following it so closely. I hope that the outcome of this case has strong justice, and that those who were involved are implicated to the fullest extent. All will come out in the wash.
