MARIETTA, Ga. — A black male in his 20's or 30's entered the Gamestop store at around 6.pm. Fifteen minutes later, after the last customer had left, he pulled out a pistol and subdued Manager-in-training, 21-year-old Matthew Cherry and another store employee, using duct tape to restrain their hands behind their back and around their mouths. The man then lured the employees father, who was waiting outside in his vehicle, into the store where he was also restrained in the same fashion. After spending an hour in the store stealing video game consoles, video games and DVDs, the entire time, Matthew Cherry was suffocating to death. The duct tape was covering his mouth and nose. After the robber left, one of the victims called 911, but Matthew was already dead.
The suspect is believed to have also stolen Matthew Cherry's red, two-door 2004 Honda Civic LX with Georgia license plate 2010 ASW. He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, with a thin build and unshaven. He was last seen wearing a light blue ball cap, blue jeans, a blue jacket and a navy blue shirt with a white T-shirt underneath. Anyone with information is asked to call Marietta police 770-794-2366.
