CINCINNATI - A Delhi Township woman killed her children Tuesday morning in a murder-suicide, police said.

Mary Ann Wittich, upset about her husband leaving the family, drugged her children, Jacob Wittich, 10, and Sydney Wittich, 7, with Benadryl or some other similair substance, painted black X’as over their hearts and then shot them both twice in the chest at point blank range.

John Scott filed for divorce Jan. 24 from Mary Ann Wittich and had recently agreed to share custody of the two younger children. The couple also has two adult children, Kathryn Wittich, 24, and Lindsey Wittich, 20, one of which found the bodies. Mary Ann Wittich volunteered at her parish and was an involved parent. Everyone who knew this family, say they were active with their church and school. They say no one saw anything like this coming.

But the family did. In addition to the suicide note, Wittich also recently told family members of how depressed she was and made suggestions about death.
