The mother of the 3-month-old found locked in the trunk of a car has been arrested on charges of neglect of a dependent, criminal confinement and false informing.

April Finch admitted to placing her baby in the trunk of her car around 9:30 p.m. She then took a shower and called 911 to report her baby was missing and that the biological father may have been involved with the disappearance. While police were at the home, Finch’s husband told investigators that he could hear the baby crying from within the trunk of the car. The baby was taken out of the trunk at around 12:55 a.m. and was in good condition.

Finch initially told investigators that she didn’t know why she did it, but she later said she did it to get attention.
